Higher Self Bookstore

Place was magical. Staff was super friendly. They have so many good books and the choice for crystals are beyond. They have a make your own tea bar that I personally thought was beyond awesome. I will be back for sure.

This place is magical! Absolutely LOVE how organized all of the crystals & gems are! They are all super easy to find & get info on since they all have a paper print out that you get with your stone. Everything is easy to find & browse. They have SO many to choose from and not just your basic go-to's. They are much more than just a book store, definitely the best part of our shopping trip to Downtown Traverse City!

I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this gem of a store in Traverse City! I thought it was a crystal shop when I first entered due to the sheer amount of crystals in the main room. It was honestly dazzled by the well-organized variety! You could imagine my delight when I finally found the well-curated book selection to my left. I wanted to buy all of them, haha!

The store is well-organized, the staff was friendly and helpful, and I love how there is an array of astrology and tarot readings to choose from. The back of the store’s view of the creek was also lovely, even in dead of winter. Overall the vibes were immaculate and left me feeling great. I don’t live in Traverse City and I don’t travel through Michigan much. But if this bookstore had an online store, I would definitely buy all of my spiritual books from this place!

This shop is organized very well! They have a great variety of raw and polished rocks/minerals. Tons to see and read about as they have little cards explaining healing properties of each rock/mineral. They sell tons of other cool things like books, tarot cards, candles, incense, etc. I bought goat milk soap that was apparently made at a nearby Traverse City farm with essential oils from the shop itself. Super neat. The pricing was pretty normal for that area. The service was warm and welcoming. I will be back!

I've been a customer of Higher Self for over 25 years. They are my doctor, my therapist, my pharmacy, and my beloved friends. Which Is why I only see a medical doctor about once a year, simply to validate that I am in better condition this year, than the year before. And I am never disappointed.

While this isn't a review suggesting that you abandon medical science (as you won't find many FDA Approved labels there), it is one intended to illuminate the cure all for what ails our Spirits. You can simply walk in around around the shop, and even if you bought nothing, you still leave with your own Higher Self saying, "Thank you!"

If you ever have the opportunity and inclination, their master energy workers are truly loving and sensitive healers. Yet they can only do so much. Because the fixes there aren't permanent, until we fix the things that continue to break us apart outside this beautiful shop. If you bring your own Higher Self to Higher Self, you will have to force yourself to leave.

I'm from out of state and visited this store while walking down front street. The vibe when you walk into these doors was beautiful! The store is VERY well organized, tagged, sized. Information on each crystal with price, and specific crystal info were on small pink cards. My sister and I went in and saw a tarot card room, we thought they were done for the day but the lady very happily took us. This was our first ever tarot read and she took the extra few minutes to explain where tarot originated and when people now use it today for energy readings. There was a meditation time after hours which we didn't partake in but was really nice to see. If you are a crystal, zen or inner self type of people definitely take the time to stop here. ♡

Customer service is excellent. An amazing array of choices of stones, metaphysical books, candles, incense, essential oils, etc.
My only disappointment (no stars removed because ultimately it's just a perk) is that we've spent a lot of money here ($200+) in the last year and my most recent visit was the first time I was asked about having a membership or perk card with them (I didn't). We've always had easy chats with the staff around checkout time so I'm guessing they just forgot.
I'd still choose shop here regardless of a special card.

I loved this shop so much I went back twice while on my three day stay in traverse city. The prices are unmatched and the quality is crazy. Loved browsing and just seeing everything they had on the shelves. I HIGHLY recommend stopping in!

I have been in love with this store for years. It is such a pick me up! You feel good as soon as you walk in. This is where I come for personal growth. They have so many great tools and resources. Even my littles love it and always pick out a crystal to take home. What you really want to do though is book a service. Today I just had my first Reiki session with Jo and she was fantastic. She has such a nurturing warmth that I just felt so energetically supported. It was such a beautiful feeling and I'm still glowing. I've also worked with Jeff and Zach who are wonderful and I HIGHLY recommend! I'll definitely be back for more. I'm so grateful to have access to such a wonderful place right here in TC. ✨

Awesome metaphysical store. Very helpful and knowledgeable while being friendly and inviting. Everything from essential oils to reiki. Even if this stuff mildly interests you, I would highly recommend visiting this place if you are in the area.

So I'm obsessed with this place! They have amazing selection of crystals, both in jewelry form or just in their raw beautiful rock form. We also have a great selection of incense and essential oils. As well as, self-help and a magical book selection. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful! I have even had a session with the owner and he is incredible! And remember if you come here consistently to get a karma card! You earn money to spend later! Love love love this place!

The staff are always polite, friendly, and helpful. Everything and everyone in the store creates a sense of calm when you walk in the doors, away from the chaos of the world outside. I love going to this store.

So many great and to me, unusual items. I want to get a Dragon Blood Stone now.
Just can't afford it but would love to have one to carry with me on next year's walk into Michigans Upper Peninsula. You must visit this place. Especially when in need of various types of Sage.

Love this store! Owner is very nice and helpful. Prices are fair and not overpriced. Has everything you need for a very zen space in your home. Every crystal comes with a slip of paper that goes in depth of its properties. Love this! Such a wide selection of crystals too.

I am so in love with this shop! I traveled here from Muskegon to visit Great Wolf Lodge with the kids and grand kids. It was such a wonderful surprise to find such a wonderful store! This little shop is PACKED with amazing books, beautiful crystals, jewelry and tools. I could have shopped for hours! I am SO excited to get home and set up my spring alter with my purchases. I will definitely make the trip back just to shop here! And the young man that checked me out was very kind and professional.

Lots of great treasures in here! Staff members were friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of tumbled and raw rocks and gemstones at a fair price. Many great books on all kinds of topics, tarot decks, runes, jewelry, incense, oils.. the list goes on and on!

This store was beautiful!!! The scent of incenses bring you in the door and all the healing crystals trap you in. All the books they have will keep you there for hours and with how helpful the staff is you just might stay that long. I loved it and can not wait to go back.

Fantastic little metaphysical store. A surprisingly vast selection of crystals and stones ranging from very small to quite large, all very reasonably priced. I wasn't expecting the prices to be as reasonable as they were.
Very relaxed atmosphere. Nobody approached me when I came in (though I was greeted), which I liked. I don't prefer being asked if I need help when visiting a new store. I like having the chance to browse until I feel I need help. If that's not your jive you may need to approach an employee, and there were plenty on standby to assist!
There was also quite a massive supply of incense and oils, although an extremely small amount of sage bundles and Palo Santo sticks. I was a little saddned by that as I personally feel both are equally, actually more, important as incense and oils.
Also, one entire wall, the length of the store, is devoted to books and card decks which was amazing.
Lots to choose from for anyone that wanders in.
Will definitely be back and encourage anyone that's looking for a new place to browse to pop in and take a peek.
