Goodwill Distribution Center - North Outlet

The bins are an experience! There are great deals to be had but you have to put time in and be ready to rummage through! There are a lot of resellers who spend all day there and they are super quick to hit the new bins. They grab a ton of the good stuff really quick so you have to be fast!

Great place if you like to dig for treasures in the bins! I can easily spend 4 hours in here and feel like I've been there for 1 hour. You will find something for everyone. Books, jewelry, dishes, blankets and sheets, car mats and wiper blades, shoes, jackets, furniture, well you get the idea, I won't list anymore lol but the list goes on and on.
You pay by the pound for clothing and large items are usually a set price like $4.99 or something reasonable like that. You will always get a good deal here. The staff ladies at the registers are super nice and welcoming, always greeting you with a smile and kind word.
If you are on a budget, this is the place to go.

This place is wild. The check-out line was so long I didn't even shop. It is designed for people buying in bulk, such as for resale. I stopped in for 5 minutes and realized it wouldn't be worth standing in line just to buy a few things. The employee I talked to was very nice. The store is constantly swapping out the blue bins to bring new merchandise to the floor. They should have a Netflix documentary about this place and the people that shop here.

Lost my purse here today. The staff went above and beyond trying to find it, and everybody shopping rallied together to look. Unfortunately, we didn't find it. If you find a wicker basket with a pink lid, that's my purse :) it has a grey phone and a brown wooden wallet inside. Please leave it with the cashier if you find it, and I will pick it up from them. Love the bins! I'll be back once my new debit card comes in! LOL!

I want to say that Derrick the Manager in the morning is so awesome and understanding. The staff is polite. However, some people that go there everyday feel like they own the place and boss around. I like to go and find treasures, lol. Not deal with mean people. ;) So, thanks to the manager and staff it’s customer friendly and just make sure to wear gloves.

Reading these comments I’m just baffled to see how true it is that people will complain about something no matter what! I’d be sick to know the bins were restricted to one per person, I think you wanted something and someone else got it before you! Anyway I think this store and the south Austin location are fantastic no matter how many people have gotten to the bin before you there are some serious treasures to be found! Honestly I found an authentic Balenciaga purse last weekend that would have been like $1600.00 new! These stores truly allow me to dress my family in amazing clothes even when times are financially difficult , as long as you know how to wash clothes you can dress like a million bucks thanks to these stores! Thank y’all Goodwill employees for dealing with the bs we are great full to y’all!!!

Really enjoy coming to this Goodwill Distribution Center!!! It's a big store and ya gotta be patient to find those hidden gems!! The young lady at the front door was very friendly and made you feel welcomed as you entered the store. To be honest, on my first visit it was a lot to take in! LOL! But I got the hang of it and fit right in like the veteran shoppers that come here regularly! Give yourself plenty of time to look through the bins and make 2 trips through all the bins just in case you missed a gem on your first trip through! Wear comfy clothes and shoes - gloves too for safety - some things may be broken so you want to protect your hands. Thank you!!😊

I love it. I will admit it’s an addiction! The staff is super nice and helpful! Have been there like 8 times now and I’ve never had a negative experience! And the deals are 🔥, you have to dig but they definitely have some great stuff!

Loved it - a gold mine for those searching for items BEFORE they reach the stores- first-pickings!!! Not organized like the usual stores (no display shelves . . . you'll see). Very clean and friendly, polite service.

I went in with some idea that it can be a little hectic sometimes. I wasn't actually ready to see people make a mad dash to the new bins and start basically throwing stuff out of their way to get to what they want. It was cool to watch from the other side of the store though. Found some really cute stuff, all clothes and blankets. I didn't know people could park their carts and get another because they kept telling us over the speaker we can only have two. I guess it means two at a time plus what you park because everyone else there had at least three carts per family. We were able to get a cart and as soon as we checked out a kid grabbed it for their parent that already had two carts plus a parked cart. It's a cool place to go ham on second hand stuff. The prices are by pound which was great for me! Next time I go, I'll be more prepared now that I've experienced it.

So for the most part I dont feel like much explanation is needed behind why I rated it what I rated. But this place is something else so I'm going to explain my reasoning.
I would actually rate it 4 stars. They operate on a timely schedule, and for the kind of operation it is, it is kept relatively clean and the employees are nice.
However I gave it an extra star to accommodate for the people rating it poorly just because they didnt know what they were getting into.
This is an outlet. Everything is thrown in bins to be dug through, the more effort they put into displaying the items the more they have to charge so if you want a typical store experience please go to one of their regular stores and save yourself the disappointment. Due to the nature of the game some of the customers can get too over zealous which is another reason I see for this place getting poor ratings. The business only has so much control over how people behave. That being said they do have rules and for the most part as I have seen try to enforce them. But people are still going to do what they will and some of them can get a little aggressive. You are warned.
For what it is it is a decent place.
For the casual shopper I would reccomend not getting in anyone's way and wait for the frenzy to die down around the news bins so you can calmly do your digging, I've found plenty of good items this way.
Dont be afraid to ask for individual prices on heavier items, every time I have asked they will give it to me for an even cheaper price than if I paid by the pound.
Also grab a cart on your way in as they will probably all be in the parking lot and you might have to leave to go get one once you start finding stuff.
As mentioned above people will do what they will and due to the nature of this place some stuff does get broken so be careful of glass and such as you dig.
If you dont mind a little more work than a regular goodwill this is a great place to find awesome deals. Just please be fair and accept it and the experience for what it is.

This was my first time to visit this location. It was a different experience than my usual thrift store shopping. I like it a lot! Be sure you have enough time to look through bins. It’s a lot to take in! Ariana was our cashier and she was AMAZING! Great customer service. The manager and staff are very friendly and helpful!! 2 👍👍’s up Goodwill!

The ultimate junk store. I've been a scrounger all of my life and have found some real gems at the Blue Hanger outlets. Goodwill gets huge volumes of stuff donated, far more than they can sort through to resell at the retail outlets. Unless you go late at night, you generally have to put up with crowds who rush the containers when new stuff gets put out. Even after it gets picked over, though, there are a lot of nifty things that get overlooked or tossed back. At $1.49 per pound (heavier/less valuable things can get priced by the piece); it's a cheap price to pay for entertainment.

I usually don't give 5 stars unless the businesses are very professional, helpful, & assisting people beyond their expectations.

OMG This outlet is amazing! If you have ever been to the other outlet one down south Austin then you will most deffinitely agree! Way less people, nicer things, better prices and you're not gonna believe this one, but I was able to find matches to all my shoes I wanted! That is near impossible at the one down south. It's cleaner too and just had a better vibe.

Once upon a time there was a place I read and heard about that was supposedly magical and cheap,but I soon came to realize it was a NIGHTMARE. It looked like the Serengeti of goodwill.People ran to the bins like little leprechauns who would kill for a bin of old tshirts and piles of broken junk.As they brought new bins in they ran to the bins like little rats looking for a crumb.this place is the crumbs of the crumbs! I can not express the staleness I felt on my hands as I walked out of this place.
Never again will I go back to the big lots of hoarders!

Buy it by the pound. Things not good enough for retail cheap cheap cheap. Broken bikes around $6 each other things also lawn mowers treadmills couches and tables. It's a real bargain hunters bizarre. Show up when the doors open for the best deals. New items brought out regularly throughout the day.

This place is great if you are ready to dig into all the bins for cheap finds! Bring disposable gloves. Since they just opened recently it's still very clean and new, way better than the Outlet South.
