8/2023 this place has become a local favorite. Perfect place to stop in for a glass of wine & let that summer breeze cool us down. Staff is always helpful. I chose a Rosé this time. It quickly became a favorite.

Jan/Feb 2023 Stopped by to check out this new wine store in Southern Village Market Street. Staff was helpful and explained how the wines are displayed currently - that will be changing in January - & what type of wineries they’ve partnered with. They also have a good selection for charcuterie boards. Good vibe.

I can’t say enough about the fine people at Rocks+Acid. Because of unforeseen delays, I had just under 30 minutes to pick up a bottle of red wine to share with a friend who was coming over to my house. I knew the folks at Rocks+Acid would know what to go with, so I went over. Laura was a rockstar and saved the day. I gave her a price point and general wine preference, she showed me three potential bottles and described each. I chose a bottle and a cheese plate and off I went. The wine and cheese were amazing, and a great time was had by all. Thank you again!

I love R + A! It should go without saying that a shop that focuses on wine should be knowledgeable, and THEY ARE! However what I like even more and keeps me going back is that they make an concerted, authentic effort to get to know you, know what you like, and remember who you are the next time you visit! This is what makes the difference between a "store" where no one knows your name and a "shop" where you feel a part of their "framily". ~Erin Daniel

Love Rocks + Acid! Paula, Laura and team are fantastic, very helpful without the snobbery that often comes with wine. The wine selection is great…love seeing so many different wines! Looking forward to some of the special tastings and classes.

I wanted to surprise my wife with an assortment of wines. Not knowing much about wines myself, I entered Rocks+Acid and I was immediately overwhelmed with the vast selection they have. Sensing my terror, Laura quickly came to my rescue. She asked me a few questions about my wife's likes and dislikes in wine and "the game was afoot." She spent a good 20 minutes with me explaining in detail the regions, climates, soils, balance and complexity of several wines. In the end she was able to help me select four bottles that I am sure my wife will enjoy. I could not have asked for a better sommelier to help me in my quest.

A gem! Great store with very knowledgeable staff. Every time I go in I come home with delicious varietals or regions to try! They also have a great selection of vermouths to really up your Manhattan and Negroni game. Big shout out to Laura who translates what I am describing into the perfect glass of wine to enjoy or bottle to take home.

Great tasting highlighting the variety of the new Australian wines. Very helpful staff that steered me to some champagne styles in the store that I had been looking for as part of a tasting class

Great experience at this new wine shop. Owner was friendly and welcoming, and, most importantly, offered excellent recommendations for wines to pair with a special meal we had planned. She considered our food selections, usual wine preferences, and price point and made suggestions that pushed us a little outside our comfort zone. All of her recommendations were spot on! We loved the wines and had fun talking with her about them. I love that the store is dog-friendly and look forward to returning for a tasting and snack. A great addition to Chapel Hill!

This is a great place to find a new favorite wine. I’ve attended one of the classes and it was wonderful as well.

Wonderful collection of interesting wines. This is definitely not the Great Wall of ordinary wine you find in super markets. We have been to two wine events and have thoroughly enjoyed both. Laura was funny, knowledgeable, and interesting.

Already one of the best wine stores in the Triangle. The professionalism and friendliness of the staff; the selection; the service are all grade A number 1. The layout is clean and easy to navigate, and it doesn't matter whether you are new to wine or an established aficionado, this is a good place to shop. Located in a growing shopping district in direct proximity to a Weaver Street market and an ABC store, and close to several good restaurants as well.

My wife and I attended one of the wine tasting events at Rock + Acid. I have been to several wine tasting events over the years, including a few in this area. Most have been so-so at best. My expectations were not high, but at the very least it would be a decent way to spend an afternoon. Who knows maybe we would even find a decent wine or two. All I can say is that I was completely blown away. There were 6 wineries represented at this event and they were all clearly curated for their excellent wines. All of the wines served were at least technically good, and we found many to be absolutely excellent! Every table had at least 1-2 excellent wines and multiple very good wines. We ended up leaving having ordered over 2 cases from the tasting. Paula and Laura, the women who own Rock + Acid, really know their wine!

Apart from the wine tasting, Rock + Acid carries a great selection of wine. Paula or Laura will help you find a bottle to suit any meal, any occasion. I question whether the lone one-star reviewer at the time of this writing was actually at the same shop that we’ve been to, because I can’t really see either Laura or Paula being smug or snobby. I also can’t imagine them recommending Costco over something comparable and equally excellent from their own selection. For those that haven’t been, their selection is surprisingly broad for what looks like a small to medium shop on the outside. The selection of wine within the shop is not at all classist. They have wines ranging from very inexpensive to obscenely expensive, they will have something delicious for you within your budget. To boot, they keep the shop at around 55 degrees to maintain the quality of the wine they sell. That is quite a commitment to their product!

Overall, I would have to say that this is one of the best wine shops that I have ever had the pleasure of visiting and an absolute “must visit” for those that truly enjoy wine in the Triangle area.

The BEST wine shop in the Triangle! To have a wine shop owned and operated by a professional sommelier brings the most delightful, thoughtful, and exquisite selection of wines. The space is also chic, inviting, and modern. My husband and I attended their Winter Wine Walkthrough event and were blown away by how absolutely delicious the wines were. Each glass of wine outdid the last. The stories behind the wines were also thoughtfully curated so do make sure to ask! So worth it for a visit!

They also allow dogs-- what could be better! We can't wait to return and be in wine heaven! Cheers.

Just opened, definitely the best wine shop in this area. It’s sommelier-owned and operated but it couldn’t be more welcoming, low-pressure and fun. The team at the shop are very interactive and want you to ask questions so you get a great wine and learn along the way. They also have wines by the glass and prepared food. It’s everything most wine stores are not: cool and hip. An awesome place to hang out browse, sip and chat.

What a fun way to buy wine (or cheese, or non-alcoholic options, or beer, or other assorted and unique items, for that matter)

The shop is inviting and Instagrammable, the owner is well-versed and meets you where you are, and the selections are interesting. I'm not sure what else you'd want from a wine shop.

Oh, did you want to bring your dog in? Go for it.
Oh, did you want to have a glass and hang out with a friend? They've got you covered.
Oh, did you want events and classes so you can learn more about wine in an exciting and interactive way? Check!

Go support this locally woman-owned business that gives back to the community and is friendly and approachable--what are you waiting for?
