Gala Foods Supermarket

Last week was my first time in this store and I must say that I was quite impressed. Sure, the food was fresh and the variety was good but there was something in particular that stood out. I am the caregiver for a blind gentleman and he suggested that we visit this store. He has shopped here before and thought that the employees were nice. Although it was a little tough to maneuver him and the wagon through the aisles because they were unpacking a lot of boxes, I appreciate the fact that they are keeping the place stocked with fresh items. The gentleman I was with asked for donuts. I asked where the Entenmann's display was and was lead to the front of the store. I picked up a box of the variety pack and noticed that they were expired. The gentleman whom I was assisting said that since they were "only" one day expired he would like take them but for a dollar. We discussed this with the person behind the counter (I assume a manager) and he said "we'll be able to get a credit for the expired ones so take a good one and we'll give you a discount." The man I was with is a blind veteran so it was very kind of them to offer him some type of assistance. He charged us one dollar for the "good" donuts. In a world where there is so much negativity; it is nice to see that some people still do the right thing and help out their fellow man. Thank you for a job well done. Stay safe and healthy.

Compare Foods is a great new addition to Patchogue shopping resources. Located in a spot that has not seen a supermarket since Bohacks close their doors 45 years ago, it is now being discovered by more and more people.

This store is extremely clean and well-kept, with a terrific fresh produce department, and a very good deli.

This small chain is a family-owned, Hispanic focused operation, that in addition to offering the same products as the other supermarket chains, stocks a great selection of the products favored by our originally Spanish speaking neighbors. I stopped at the fresh Mexican baked goods section is worth the trip alone.

With good prices, and some of the friendliest people you'll ever find working in a market, I highly recommend Compare Foods!

Very ethnic market. Reasonably-priced, you can get most everything you need here and if you can't find it the staff is helpful and caring.
