I just had a incisional Hernia repair done robotically by Dr. Shin who is with NYU Langone. Never had someone who was so caring and understanding . My 2 pre-op Nurses Marie & Barry were wonderful, kept you calm and had nice conversations with them all the while waiting for surgery. This hospital doesn't seem to have the best ratings BUT I am not rating the Hospital I am rating the staff. EXECELLENT STAFF ALL THE WAY FROM THE FRONT DESK (Brenda) to my pre-op Nurses to Dr. Shin, Mr. DaVinci, Tom and Kelly (sorry if I left anyone out) THANK YOU ALL FOR A HAPPY HOLIDAY!!!

Long Island Community/ Brookhaven Memorial Hospital

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the outstanding care the doctors and nurses provided to my mother-in-law Mrs Joan Burke during her recent stay.

Although she is originally from Virginia, the distance did not hinder the exceptional level of care she received. Despite the challenges of being in unfamiliar surroundings, your expertise, professionalism, and compassion were truly exceptional and made a significant impact on her recovery.

I have been to this hospital through all my life and they have seen me through some weird things lol good and bad. They make me feel so comfortable going there, I make everyone laugh and they don’t judge me even at my worst, I like that they can tell when I am septic and when I can hold out, and I just have to say last night my two ER doctors Rivas & Rachel really were there for me and like I said weird things before, I have an extremely high pain tolerance and I have a bad kidney infection but I left there smiling even thru that pain and finally left with the correct antibiotic and I couldn’t be more grateful for her funny charming sarcasm and genuine bedside manner and for making me smile through it and staying calm. This place came a long way over the years.

So my 83 yr old father was brought to Long Island community hospital from his assisted living on September 29th 2023 due to a fall. Things escalated quickly and was told he would need immediate back surgery. My first reaction was to get him out of that hospital and have him transferred to stonybrook or Mather hospital but neuro surgeon dr Sathi told me he didn’t not think it was a wise decision to move him, So I went with his advice. Everyone I knew in the medical field had nothing good to say about the care in the hospital and made me very concerned for my fathers after care .
Well let’s fast forward to 7 days after his surgery.. Dr Sathi did an amazing job , the ICU staff at Long Island community hospital was absolutely amazing. And now my dad is on floor 3 and I have to say the PAs and nursing staff have been incredible!! Brookhaven hospital has had terrible reviews for years but I think since Long Island Community has takin over they are wonderful.. I am glad we kept him here and will spread the good word throughout our community. The staff here deserves to be recognized.
Thank you to all the staff
Sincerely , Dawn Bromberger

After a significant surgery, I was recently admitted to LI Community Hospital for 3 nights. Every person I came into contact with, from my outstanding surgeons and the surgical team, to the ICU nurses and team and step-down nurses and team, treated me with caring, decency and kindness. I was very anxious going into surgery, but cannot say enough great things about how the team at yhe hospital cared for me and put me at ease.

Had a wonderful experience recently when I walked myself into the emergency room. Alton greeted me and was so kind and made me feel like everything was going to be okay. He was a true angel. When my husband arrived he welcomed him with open arms. James & Vayola were amazing nurses and came whenever we asked for help. They were kind and made me feel safe. Great experience thanks to the employees who genuinely cared and took their job seriously.

I had a wonderful experience last night with the staff at Long Island Hospital on Hospital Road. Everyone from the ambulance staff to the nurses and doctors, were so nice and friendly. Even staff passing by. I have not 1 complaint. They all treat you with respect, they are careful and thoughtful. I had an injury, (yes this is me staff, toothpick in the foot woman lol), and I was in and out pretty quickly. They didn't leave me laying there ignoring me, someone was always asking how I was. Or making a gross look on their face 🤣🤣🤣.

My granddaughter was sent to the ER not too long ago as well and she was very happy with the staff too.

All the negative reviews are ridiculous I have been going to this hospital on and off since 1994 and I never had a bad experience like any other large hospital you have good bad staff that doesn't represent an entire hospital. It's like one nurse on a ward doesn't mean every nurse is awful I would recommend this hospital in a minute.

My husband had a great team of professionals take care of him. From the security, the front desk personnel the nurse Ben and the doctors Joseph and I can't remember the other doctors name they really give excellent care. I know people get impatient when they have to wait in the ER however it takes time to treat every patient that goes there. To the team in the ER thank you so much for all you do. I am thankful we have this Hospital in our area.

I was there last night. I cannot be thankful enough for them. The wait was long once inside but that's okay. I was just so relieved they would help me with a painful root canal. Rachel was super kind the RN who help me was also kind. I also had an experience with another nurse but did not catch her name. My blood sugar dropped and I was sweating, dizzy and pale. I have diabetes and she rushed to help me when I was close to passing out at the nurses station(my fault as I could not eat well as a result of my root canal, she got me two orange juices and I returned to normal, thank god.) A scary experience turned good. All around a great experience.

I had to go to get care and I was met with such kind and great staff! I especially want to thank Chris RN because he went above and beyond to provide me exceptional care! He’s a wonderful Nurse and made me feel so comfortable and at ease when I was not feeling well.

I went in for foot surgery recently and I had an overall a very positive experience. The nurses, staff and doctors were all very good and friendly. This was my first time having any kind of surgery done and despite not being able to have loved ones there due to covid restrictions I felt pretty at ease. I really don't think I could have asked for a better experience.

Recently, my father was rushed to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue from Affinity Nursing and Rehab in bad shape, thanks to the apparent lack of medical care he received. In the ER he was carefully assessed by the doctors, who quickly started his treatment. "Dr Sam"was very compassionate and kind to my family, as well as a remarkable doctor. The doctors worked together to diagnose Dad and quickly stabilize him. He was put on the Step Down unit and we found all the staff to be attentive, caring, and exceptional. We can't believe the quality of care my father received in this unit. Special thanks to nurse Ryan, who checked in with Dad even when he was working on another unit. They treated him with the respect a 91 year old deserves. Every doctor treating Dad was amazing to him and to us. ICU nurses go above and beyond as well. Never more than 2 steps away and concerned with the comfort of each patient and family member. Dedicated is the word I use to describe them. I am happy to see the change in this hospital.

Went in for ankle surgery. Every step of the way, from pre-surgical testing to pre and post op, was as good as it could be - everyone was friendly, organized, helpful, pleasant - all the good things. Very thorough as well. I don't have much to compare it to, but I can't really imagine anything being improved. I'm leaving this review because I'm surprised to see the other negative ones and I feel like these ladies and gents deserve some recognition. They were attentive, professional, and pleasant. Can't say it enough.

This was my wife's first time here. The ambulance came very quickly the staff at the emergency room entrance were very helpful. My wife was seen almost right away and was taken care of . I can't say about others but our experience was very pleasing. We moved out here from queens, its quite a bit of wait there.

the care that my husband received while at the hospital was excellent from the Nurses on step down, Kim, Linda and the cna Michael, Irma was wonderful. He was transferred to room 423B and the Nurses there Angela,Yvette and the cna Sylvia and Eve were also wonderful. I was at the hospital every day making sure that my husband was doing well. I arrived about 8am til 5:30 just making sure was comfortable.I do have a complaint and I'm hoping that Robert Davis, Nursing Director will call me
and address my problem. Overall I'm happy with the care from all the Doctor and Nursing with the care that my husband received and I would continue to come to Long Island community if needed.
