Darrell is a very nice guy and a pleasure to do business with. He's been around as long as I can remember. I bought my first bass from him back in the late 90's.

Fantastic shop! Got my guitar setup, pickups changed over in a timely manner and it can out superb! Would highly recommend to anyone!

Top notch shop with Top notch people....called Darrell about a guitar that he had that I would have to drive hours to pickup...he had it priced very fairly and described the instrument perfectly...would definitely shop there again!

I love the Sound Shoppe! Darrell has done excellent repair and custom work on my guitars for many years. His setup work always exceeds my expectations, especially on acoustic guitars. Darrell also stocks a wide variety of strings and accessories, and is always helpful with my unusual string gauges and requests for odd-ball items and parts. His "Big D" custom guitars are very nice, they are solid pro-level instruments made from top-shelf parts with great attention to detail.

As a local family-owned business, the Sound Shoppe really cares about their customers. Darrell offers great customer service, good advice, and always stands behind his products. He is very honest about the condition of used instruments and equipment, and makes sure those used items are in the best working condition possible. A lot of my most frequently-used gear comes from the Sound Shoppe!

The Sound Shoppe also offers lessons with Scott Todd and Barry Billings, both are versatile professional players with a great deal of touring and studio experience. I would recommend lessons with them for players of any skill level, as they are both quite knowledgeable and friendly fellows who do a good job of explaining musical concepts.

Great music store with a great selection of instruments. Darrell and Tanner are extremely knowledgeable and highly skilled with string instrument setups, upgrades, and repairs. I've had Darrell work on many of my guitars, all of which came back playing and sounding better than ever. I highly recommend them you do yourself a favor and check them out for both instrument purchases and repairs. You won't regret it!

You can’t beat the service that Darrell and Tanner give you. Best place in North Alabama to get a guitar set up. I have bought several guitars, amps and accessories here and have always been satisfied. Just a great store owned and ran by great people!

Excellent business, highly recommend. I’ve lived in Memphis for 25 years and after some subpar experiences with techs I decided to just take my guitars 3 hours to Darrell when they need work because he’s excellent at it, very affordable and above all trustworthy. If you buy a guitar from him it will be adjusted exactly the way you like it. He also does some very cool things with less and moderately expensive guitars like souping up hardware, pickups, electronics, tidying up fretwork, etc.

I have been a customer here since I purchased my first guitar in 1990. Service has always been above and beyond and prices comprable to online but with local friendly customer service you just can't get with online shopping . I highly recommend Darryl and this business. Shop local support your friends and neighbors first.

I've been doing business with Darryl and the Sound Shoppe for about 145 years (seems like) and I'm never disappointed. Great setups and the best electrical work on guitars in town. Not to mention the conversations and comradere. All he needs is free coffee and donuts and I'd be there every day. 🎶☕🍩

I love the Sound Shoppe--I have purchased a few guitars from them (condition and prices were both exceptional) and had a couple of my current guitars repaired as well. I like that their location is easily accessible and close to my home, the owner is always helpful and easy to talk to, and he makes you feel welcome with every visit!
