This location has a designated parking lot! The layout is well organized and the aisles are more spacious than other locations. Staff are great and keep the store very clean.

My favorite village to go is this location! I always find great shoes, new items, brand name clothing, and great prices! It's always busy on the good sale days like Sunday's, Tuesday's, and half off days so you have to go early.

Went looking for inexpensive planters for end of season plants coming indoors. Walked out with a wood six pack carrier and an electric candle melter new in the box. My total was $6 buck but timing is everything when thrifting and this place has it's share of treasures.

Best thrift store in the city - 2 floors, always stocked and cleaned well, nice staff. I always find good stuff here. Sometimes the prices are too much for a thrift store if you're looking in the "better" section but keep looking, they always have discount colors. Don't miss the shoe section downstairs they have a TON for great prices. I walked away with knee high leather boots in good condition for $5. Easy to access from the Paulina Brown Line stop or use the parking lot they have.

October 2, 2023:
Folks it is time to find some gems, like a purse, winter coat, or snow boots.

I plan on going there this month. I'll let you know how good I did. Fingers Crossed!

June 10, 2023:. Correction:
I wanted to enjoy the last days of this glorious Spring 2023, so I went to my favorite store The Village.
I had no problem with the Asian cashier and everything was discounted 50%, unless it was marked a certain price from the basement.

SORRY INCORRECT --- "My Rand McNally world computer map was not discounted about $4.50."

CORRECT --- "The Eye Witness Atlas of the World", ©1994, DORLING KINDERSLEY LIMITED, LONDON, DIGITAL MAPPING, Dr. David R. Green, The Department of Geography, King's College about $4.50.

The European young male boss was friendly, and I told him how upset I felt with the overcharge of $2.30 the last time I was in the store. In fact, I almost wrote to the owner in Blue Island, IL. But I didn't!

I found a new Calvin Klein long sleeve and small boat top neckline in a black and a bright purplish-pink camouflage pattern (L0L); a few more new tunic tops (a pretty Eddie Bauer summer-weight aqua with capped folded sleeves; a TIME and TRU fancy fabric of aqua & torquoise with tiny silver accents and mint green lace inserts on an irregular hemline; and a dressy TERRA SKY adjustable 3/4 length sleeve tunic blouse of 77% Rayon & 33% Cotton --- a pinkish-gold backgound, small delicate floral print in raspberry, and gray); a new SECRET Sleep wear pink sleeveless with details; only 3 new JC PENNY large white thick terrycloth hand-towels with needle work/one yellow tulip; and another new Kate Spate's kitchen towel, printed with "Add the Sauce"; and a regular box of Manila letter-size files for $2.25, not discounted. My cost $28.35.

I turned nothing away.

The cologne was over-priced and no recognizable names.

There were lots of Capri pants on the racks, but I buy mine from "Land's End".

I would have preferred a Rand McNally map book of the world. A digital rendition is blurry.

April 28, 2023,

I shopped with my walker and glad I could sit along the way.

I found what I was after. The cashier, Rosa P., handled the check-out fraudulently. As an auditor ( CPA) I couldn't verify by line with price per item. Rosa over-charged me $2.10.

I made a mistake buying a bath towel that had a big hole from someone who carelessly pulled out the protection plug.

Rosa gave me some esoteric feedback, but I didn't catch on.

I sewed around the hole so there are no loose threads. But I still have the hole in a newish and colorful beach towel.

I had checked my basket so I could go downstairs. Rosa again tried to put it in places I wouldn't have to pay supposedly.

I didn't know I would be shocked for paying an additional $2.10, when I checked the basket in. I never was charged for that privilege before, and Rosa didn't give me a ticket either.

Run when you see Rosa P.

August 26, 2022: The only time you don't want to shop at the Village is prior to September.

For some reason there is an inventory problem. The students are not favored.

The better selection of winter clothes comes by September 20, or there about, when coats are available. And those that choose a coat now usually get the best that is available for the season.

Maybe the best selection is saved for the Christmas rush.

I've been buying new coats for the past few pandemic years. I wonder why? Lol

June 2, 2022:. Must get there before the climatology season begins.
____________
I picked up 5 new tops, and the most expensive was $3.70, in size 1X.

They appear not worn.

However, the buyer should wash them first.

I did, and the red and the black have to be washed separately, 'cause the deep colors still bleed dye. Not too badly though!

Hi folks don't we love our Village.

Also did you read the bad press given to "Goodwill", and its e-commerce business getting all the better items?

Way more fun than online shopping. Stuff is organized by color! You can easily find top brand clothes here that someone maybe wore once and will cost you $3, not $80. Takes the risk out of experimenting with your look so you can be less boring for less money and save your hard earned cash for the bar, dispensary, sports book, or crypto scams.

By far one of the best Village Discounts and thrift stores in the Chicago area. The prices have remained at a decent level and the large variety of items is worth checking out. I have purchased many different items from clothes to records and I have been satisfied every time. The staff is always kind and unlike many other Village Discounts, they actually give me my sales that are posted on the wall! If you can make the trip I would recommend this one.

Thrift store original! Before thrift stores got expensive and fancy and orderly there was this store. Been going there for many many years and glad they haven't gotten all jazzed up and jacked prices to match. They have a good selection and prices are still decent. They are organized and orderly without trying to compete with regular upscale retailers. You still have the thrill of the hunt here. Parking lot close by. 3 colored tags half priced every week.

This shop is very clean, no odors upon arriving. Plenty of clean surfaces to rest, as the store is quite large.
Many great antique and vintage items at very affordable prices.
The ladies at the check-out are polite, cheerful and wonderful.
I highly recommend this shop for a pleasant afternoon stroll.

Okay, I can't pass judgment on the parking here as I've never used it, but the store itself is phenomenal. A lot of thrift stores carry clothes that are super old and worn out, but this one has a "better garments" section that has beautiful pieces for every taste. I recently overhauled my wardrobe here - about $100 for 30 or so pieces, some with tags still on & never worn.

The sales associates and cashiers are also just super nice.

I found a linen sheet set (just the fitted and flat sheet) 10$? Amazing!!! These are worth 100$+

I also found lots of cool fabrics (in pillowcases, sheets, etc) to be used to make other things :-)

Lots and lots of stuff from clothing , to books, etc. can almost feel overwhelming and it’s better to go there as a first activity vs when low energy.

Such a delight. Reasonable prices. (Think goodwill?) would come back again if I lived in Chicago!

Today while visiting the thrift I had my 10 year old daughter with me I thought it might be nice to finally get her that starbucks drink she’s always asking for before we enter the thrift so we could do some warm weather clothes shopping for her. We grabbed her drink then hit the store. She found alot of things that made her excited and I was happy for her. We walk to the car and I have been booted for going to starbucks. The gentleman that booted me told me why he booted me and that it would be $170 to remove . Thankfully the owner asked for me to prove to him i was a regular customer by showing 2 other Receipts from the village thrift besides the one I had today and he would let me go thankfully I was able to prove that on spot with my Chase app and my boot was removed and I was so grateful.

I love this place. So many great finds here. This place has been around for a long time and still as great as it was 20 years ago. As far as all the people complaining about illegally parking in their parking lot, well, you shouldn't leave your car in their lot when you're not shopping there, move it to the street. That's not that unusual in Chicago for places to police their parking lot for people leaving their car there. And people are scared at night in Roscoe Village? That's funny.

This is one of the best locations. I have been coming here since high-school years and have always found great stuff. Just came back after all this covid stuff and found good amounts of shirts. (Updated) lot's of staff changes since last visit but everyone is great and welcoming. still #1 in my book for finding hidden treasures.

Decent selection and quite clean. We found plenty of good deals. If yoir in a rush and want something special, check out the items the staff has selected for the rest. These are hanging in very visible areas. The staff picks are def worth checking out. Of you're looking to resell items, better start flipping through the LARGE selection on the racks. Good luck!

Employees are very helpful, there are lots of clothing, brand name shoes, a variety of books, electronics, luggage purses, glassware, toys, home goods, etc. Free parking is available half a block down from the store. Pay to park pay is also available. Located in a nice neighborhood.

I was on a road trip and desperately needed a raincoat last minute. I rarely like to pay full price for stuff & I try to be as sustainable as possible. So I came here last minute for it, & I sort of walked out with more than expected. I came here the next day with my friend (that I was traveling with) and she got two swim tops for less than $2, one was half off! highly recommend (:

Ummmm this place is literally Chicago’s hidden gem. It has such good stuff, HUGE selection, and stuff is about 2-3 dollars. Yup, that is not a typo.

Be prepared to dig. Make sure you’ve eaten before you come here lol and grab a cart. You can literally spend hours here and tire yourself out.

Theres SO MUCH good stuff here - vintage, y2K, modern, everything!
