Had to stop in here and see what all the fuss was about. This place was recently rated The best deep dish in the country? Being a Chicagoan born and raised I know a thing or two about deep dish pizza. Is it the best deep dish I’ve ever had?? Absolutely not!!! On a scale of 1-10 I’ll give this pizza a 9.5.. the burnt crust on the outer edge sent me over the moon.. very delicious and it was ready for pick up sooner than they said.. I’ll be back again.. soon.. thanks so much

Voted best pizza in the US for a very good reason. Absolutely stellar flavor, not as thick as lous but I'd call that a good thing.

If you're going to get pizza from here I recommend ordering a day in advance. The place is too popular for its own good, trying to get a table is impossible unless you have a reservation

I would highly advise to order a day in advance for carryout.

If you've not had this pizza and live in Chicago what are you even doing?

Some of Chicago's best deep dish pizza. The wait was long, but the pizzas were worth it. A great selection of toppings compliments the perfectly made crust and sauce. The atmosphere was also very welcoming and upbeat.

I've visited this place a handful of times. To begin with, I ordered for pick up through their website. It's simple and easy. Also, they text you when your pizza is ready. Lastly, this is some of the best deep dish pizza I've tasted. I like the dark edge around the crust and how crispy it is. Also, the pepperoni has a robust flavor and they put a good amount on the pizza. The sauce also has a fresh taste and I didn't notice any chunks in it. Overall, I highly recommend to visit this location, it's worth the drive.

This pizza esthetically doesn't look perfect, but who cares about the esthetics this is one of the most delicious pizzas I ever had!!!!
It's one of those meals that make you eat more and more.
Pan pizza crust is perfect and overbaked tips give extra flavor to it.
Both my wife and I loved it and it's our future first choice when it comes to pizza.
Definitely recommend everyone to try it 🥂

Ordered one 12” Pan Pie with Italian sausage, mushrooms, green bell pepper and onion on a Monday night around 6. The wait was said to be about 45 minutes for takeout. I got there at 6:45 and it wasn’t ready yet, as the place was packed. I overheard the host mention it was a 2 and a half hour wait for seating for walk-ins. To be fair, inside is very small, featuring a bar and a few tables, and seems it’s by reservation mostly. We got the pie at 7 and of course i didn’t check it because I was so hungry. We get home and it was the wrong pie but thankfully it was pretty much what we asked for (there was pepperoni on it instead of mushroom). Regardless it looked absolutely delicious, as it was loaded with toppings and had a nice charred crust. The crust was so dense and pillow-like with each bite. The sauce to cheese ration was perfect, and the sauce was seasoned nicely. The toppings were fresh and the meats tasted of high quality. The pizza wasn’t too greasy and did not have a lot of excess moisture. Overall, even though we got the wrong pizza, I was very impressed with this place. It’s not traditional deep dish but it’s like if deep dish and Detroit styled pizza had a love baby. It incorporates all the best aspects of deep dish and ties closely to traditional Chicago pizza. If you aren’t a fan of this style pizza, im not sure if this will be for you. I would still recommend it if you are on the fence. Even with the mistake, I still uphold the 5 star, as the pie speaks for itself.

I can't get enough of this pizza. It is seriously the best Chicago Deep Dish. Yes Gino's East is also good but if I had to choose one place it is this place and it is out of the way if you are staying downtown Chicago. But well worth the trip. It is huge place with an upstairs but expect a long wait if you haven't reserved a table.

Truly the BEST Chicago pizza I’ve ever had. I tried the others, they’re too cheesy and doughy. Pequod’s was spot on PERFECT! See the photos. Customer service was great and the time from order to eating was short as well. I will be returning for sure.

We wanted to experience Chicago but only had 2 hours and time for one stop…
Pequod’s Pizza delivered the Windy City on a plate and it was incredible!
This is deep dish authentic Chicago pizza in an authentic Chicago pizzeria. Nothing fancy about this place, just a bar like atmosphere with dated tables, amenities and sports paraphernalia. Customer service was direct but pleasant as well.
Call ahead if you want to eat in, or you can take it to go. They even ship!
I’m so glad I ordered enough to take leftovers home.

My friend suggested we try a new pizza spot!
Appetisers: Chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks. We split the large pizza (sausage, meatballs & spinach); we STILL had leftovers! I suggest not more than 3 toppings. They were busy, and our Waitress did tell us that our pizza would take about 45 minutes.
DEFINITELY going back!!

Pequod's distinctive pan pizza at the heart of Chicago is a game-changer. Unlike the traditional deep dish, its caramelized cheese crust is the star of this pan pie—an irresistible edge that elevates the entire pizza experience. With each bite, you're greeted by a perfect blend of textures and flavors, a testament to Pequod's mastery in pizza craft. It's not just a meal; it's a ritual, a must on every Chicago visit. The restaurant's departure from the deep-dish norm adds a refreshing twist to the city's pizza scene, making Pequod's a standout. If you're seeking pizza perfection beyond the conventional, this is your haven.

Pizza was delicious! Mozzarella sticks were average, frozen product. A definite dive bar with real Chicago pizza.

Me and my party and I decided to come to this pizza parlor after spending some time together. Man, were we lucky that we were even able to get a spot to sit as this place was packed, and honestly, I understood why after eating their pizza. We had gotten the large pan pizza to split between the three of us, and we had devoured that thing. The staff was extremely friendly and we even got to talk to the manager, which was quite nice. All in all, I have to make sure to make it back out here again, hopefully.

This is the place to go to for some deep dish pizza! We had reservations and were able to get seated immediately on arrival. We ordered a small pizza, and that was perfect for two people. Pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, and basil were the toppings on our pizza. Our server did tell us that it would take about 45 minutes for the pizza to come out. As we were waiting, our hunger kicked in so that when the pizza came out, we were ready. The pizza itself is just amazing. From the outer crispy edges to the wonderful combination of flavors from the toppings and the cheese. This satisfied my deep dish craving for the year.

Best pizza I've ever had period !!! Great crust, chewy along the edges...dough was soft and fluffy, large amounts of sausage, pepperoni, cheese and olives. The sausage was extremely tasty especially made with fennel seeds.
Just as good the second day.

Very hearty and fulfilling pan pizza. I enjoyed it a lot and would recommend to anyone staying in Chicago.
It’s not the traditional deep dish but it’s still loaded with ingredients. I could only eat one slice. We made reservations which I recommend, so were seated right away on a Monday at 4:30pm. The restaurant was bigger than I’d expected but you can still here everyone’s personal conversations because the seating is kind of tight (popular place so that’s understandable.)
What I loved is that they have several restrooms and they’re clean.
It does take a while for the pan pizza to come out, but they tell you this. Maybe took about 30 minutes or so.
Worth the wait!

I ate at Pequod's Pizza-Chicago around 3:30pm on Christmas Day. Pequod's GM, Sean Asbra, was working the front line at the host stand coordinating guest seating and all restaurant reservations were spoken for from 11am-9pm, But, Sean was able to find me the last spot remaining at the bustling bar. He was also busy directing to-go orders brought to the front, checking those orders and sending mistakes back to be fixed immediately, as well as tending to impatient awaiting holiday guests and interacting with his employees. Did I mention that four employees called in for their evening shift? The downstairs bar rail was closed at 5:30 due to lack of servers. How could the employees not respect their GM's work ethic? Impressive leadership! Rock star stuff.

I was greeted by a sweetheart server - Jenny - that I noticed called all of her guests "love." Nice touch. The bar rail was filled with guys watching football and a local regular introduced as Paul. Jenny knew her crowd and how to accommodate. This charm and knowledge has likely grown in Jenny's 10 years working at Pequod's. She was very prompt with drink inquiries and subsequent delivery, as well as meal inquiry. She also reminded me that once I ordered my pizza it would take about 40 minutes to arrive to my seat. I ordered my large pan pizza with sausage, pepperoni, mushroom and onion. It arrived much quicker - less than 30. In that time I had a nice conversation with Paul and Jenny about founder Burt Katz and the history of Pequod's. The signature caramelized crust. Burt being an intense guy of short stature that lost his daughter to cancer at a young age. And some guests' time expectations for Pequod's more complicated pizza that takes time to make and bake.

My pizza arrived piping hot with a delicious aroma waffling off the well-constructed masterpiece. My server kindly offered to serve my first slice, a Pequod's tradition. However, I prefer to let deep dish pizza pizza rest, so when the slice is cut, the volcanic hot cheese and toppings don't slide off the sauce. That becomes a deconstructed lasagna. This pizza was out of this world! Perfect ratio of toppings, housemade hearty tomato sauce, and ohhhh that signature caramelized crust. That amazing caramelized crust - a layer of mozzarella cheese placed all the way around the well-seasoned black cast iron pan between the housemade dough, forming a crispy and crunchy cheese wall. It was even more awesome than I had remembered!

Do yourself a favor and eat your pizza at the restaurant. It makes a world of difference. Not that a boxed Pequod's pizza isn't delicious - IT IS - but you lose some magic when any pizza hits a box. The crisp. The box can can result in a soggy pizza if it sits too long. You can't blame the restaurant when you carry out or opt for delivery. This place is special! But...don't tell anyone else. I want to be able to get a pizza next time I'm in town. :)

Great Christmas memory, Pequod's! Thanks! -- Chad

Whoa... now this is Chicago. This is deep dish pizza at its best! I am talking carmelized crust, sticking to the side of the pan, need an extra utensil just to get it onto your plate, cheese running everywhere, kinda special pizza! Shhh... don't tell anyone... but this may be my favorite pizza in Chicago! Ok... tell anyone you want, but you're gonna want to try this place! And you need to eat in the restaurant! You can not beat the service in this place or the hustle as they rush by with giant pans of sizzling hot pizza straight out of the oven! It is truly fun to see! One of our kids ordered a "thin" crust, and I am telling you... that is like a regular hand tossed you get at other places... still good! And definitely get sausage on your pie... it is so good here! Such friendly service and a good selection of beers. If you're not into pizza, they do have some pasta choices as well. Plan on taking home leftovers because one or two slices is more than enough per person! You will love it here!

Pequod's Pizza is a gem with its delectable offerings. The famous burnt cheese caramelized crust is a game-changer, complementing the delicious sauce perfectly. The service is wonderful, but given its popularity, reservations are advisable for a smooth experience in this bustling spot. A must-try for pizza enthusiasts!
