Elegant Octopus Games

I’m not a huge gamer but my kids bring me and every time I come in I’m so impressed with the customer service, the organization, and the overall friendly vibe of the place! They have great board games and were able to help us get an old PSP up and running. The place is super clean, they have a good selection, and it’s awesome to be able to buy second hand games/consoles from a reputable trustworthy business. Highly recommend!

This place was amazing! Huge selection of games and cards from pokemon to magic. They had everything I was looking for without having to go to multiple other stores first. Highly recommended!

This store is so clean and so are all items being sold. The store is big and spacious with lots of popular games. Multiple copies of some of the popular titles. They have all the card games and even some arcade games setup in the back. Everything is well wrapped. I feel confident in what I am buying here.

My son and I go to the shop to purchase Pokémon cards quite frequently. There’s a very knowledgeable staff always willing to help out. They have a great selection and great prices. Curbside parking…convenient 6th Avenue Tacoma location. Check it out!!!!!!

They have the a really cool selection of retro games and ccgs. Staff are super nice. The friday commander events are the best organized events Ive seen.

I regularly go here to buy games and the employees are super nice and helpful, I always end up being super indecisive with buying things but they are super patient and are never bothered when I spend upwards of an hour just looking at games. They have really decent prices and a great selection of games to choose from. My one problem with the store is the labels they put on the games, the labels are super tough and when you peel them off they leave a large amount of residue that's difficult to get off, but other than that, this place is super nice.

The store has friendly, informative staff. The MTG pre-releases are fun, and the store is dedicated to a variety of different franchises (MTG, Pokemon, Flesh & Blood). This is my third place for sure.

Wonderful little store! I didn't take in most of the video game stuff but they do have a decent assortment of games for tons of consoles. I stopped by to see if they'd buy some Pokemon cards from me and to pick up some booster packs. The selling process was super easy and the folks behind the counter were very nice. They offer more in store credit than cash for cards, which is great for me since I just put it back into cards. I was happy with the offer and left with more boosters than I thought I would! I appreciate the measures they take to ensure card pulls are fair. They have a large card sleeve color selection from Dragon Shield that I looked through while I waited for my quote, and several other sleeve, toploader, and storage options. I'll be stopping by here again for sure!

AMAZING New Game Store!!!!! I first went in to check out the Dungeons and Dragons selection and found out about all the cool video game and Magic the Gathering stuff they sell. The staff is super friendly and approachable. Because of the people involved in this shop I learned a new way to play MTG at 42 years old called Oathbreaker. Its awesome. Check these guys out. You wont regret it.

Great customer service from gamers who share their knowledge. Console games, trading card games, tabletop RPG? They have a very good selection of everything. The one time they didn’t have a specific D&D fig I needed, they told me where I could find it, not far away. When I asked the value of some old MTG cards, they gave an honest answer and offer. I know I will be visiting this store again.

I stopped in here to sell some items to them, this store is so nicely put together. I had a bunch of questions for them and they answered all of them very politely and never got annoyed with me. Great store to visit

Honestly I have always enjoyed this store, but recently me amd my partner decided to sell our large collection of old video games and systems and it was a wonderful experience!!! We had collected so much some of the games were quite rare to find now a days. But anywho, i went into this with a base line estimate of what i was willing to take and was more than pleased when there offer for everything was over double what i was expecting!!! It was enough money to allow us to take a proper honeymoon next year for our anniversary!!! The owner was knowledgeable and very reasonable so I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for rare hard to find games!

Super awesome card shop and game store. Lots of magic singles to choose from, as well as booster packs and EDH precons. Big board game selection too. Friendly and knowledgeable staff to help out if you have questions. Highly recommend!

Been here a couple times and I don’t get why some folks would give them a 1 star. They may be a bit pricey, but look at what they’re selling. It’s mostly retro gaming. That stuff has made a full circle and isn’t cheap. They have a rewards system that most places don’t offer. And they also have a military discount, which I greatly appreciate. Definitely recommend this place!

Hands down one of my favorite game stores in the area. Huge selection and excellent service. I’ve been coming here regularly and always have a great experience. Whether i’m cracking packs of my favorite tcg or taking a trip down memory lane with all the old games and collectables, I always leave happy. Honestly, there is something for everyone here. I highly recommend this store!

Just purchased a stack of PS1 Games from here. The store is very well organized, spacious, and clean. The condition of the videogames I purchased are immaculate. I think some other stores can learn from the way this store is setup. It's that good.

When it comes to video/card/table-top game stores Elegant Octopus (previously Maple Bar Games) is the king of Tacoma. They are incredibly knowledgeable which is helpful when I honestly didn’t know the first thing about Magic and needed ultra particular cards as a gift.
Their buying process is easy and they will always be completely transparent and honest about how much they’re giving you in store credit and why (unlike HPB you will actually receive more than a buck fifty.)
Prices can admittedly be slightly higher for certain rare games, but supporting a local, family owned business with owners and staff you can trust is worth it to me. Besides, if I wanted the Ebay experience I would stay at home and hope I wouldn’t have to return the game I ordered. With them I know if any issues arise (which has happened maybe once) they are more than willing to help.
And I’m giving this one a 10 out of 10. Thank you!

This game/card shop is really cool. A little pricey but their selection is huge and they have some really cool vintage Pokémon packs and video games.
