John's Butcher Shoppee

Came to visit our son at Wash U for parents weekend and our son decided he wanted us to cook in instead of going out to a fancy steakhouse. The butcher cut our steaks to order, we got 1 ribeye and 1 porter house and they were amazing. Thanks so much for our memorable experience!

I just wanna start off by saying the staff at the store were so welcoming and so kind it was my first time going in they had incredible quality meats for wonderful prices.

If you want amazing beef this is the place to go especially if you are a grilling enthusiast.

If you’re looking for special cheeses or a variety of prosciutto etc. this isn’t the place but if you want incredible meat that is fresh from wonderful locals this is a place to go. I will be coming a regular here especially during the summer for ultimate grilling.

They even have a fun raffle that every week a person is selected to receive $25 worth of free meat.

Love this place a hidden gem.

I found this hidden gem back in 2016 when I was going to another business near them in Overland. They have a great staff. Friendly, helpful, and considerate. It's always a pleasure to stop here and pick up fresh meats when I'm in the area. I purchased two rib eyes a couple of days ago and prepared​ them tonight. Wonderful​! I like their take on the meat snack sticks. Very tasty and not greasy or over spiced. My dogs love the beef heart and ground beef mix for a fresh raw meal. The shop is neat, clean, and parking is plentiful.

My parents used this butcher shop always and now I use them for my family. I am pleasantly surprised with quality and prices. Great Service!!!

I got some Porterhouse steaks here recently that were the most tender and tasty steaks I have had in years. The staff are quick, friendly, and very well versed in what they have on hand.

This place is hands down THE BEST!
First of all, every business ever needs to send their employees here to be trained on customer service. I felt welcomed and appreciated from moment one and the entire time I was there! Second, the selection is so amazing it's almost overwhelming (but everything is organized and labeled)! There really is absolutely NO wonder how these folx have made it the last 47 years as a family-owned mom & pop shop. They're the best! We will be going back again and again!

Side note: The smoked pig ears are a GREAT treat for your dog! My two heavy chewers absolutely LOVED them! Think actual smoked pig ears, not those thin chip ones from the pet store. However, smoked bones - in general - are bad for dogs. They shatter easily and can cause many issues like perforations of the esophagus, stomach, and intestines (in general, not saying that of specific ones). Likewise, rawhide is also bad for dogs. Though theirs are smoked in-house and don't have any chemicals added, rawhide has been linked to blockages in dogs that can cause need for emergency surgery because it is not digestible. If you choose to use these, use both rawhide and smoked bones under extremely careful supervision and make sure your dog doesn't eat any pieces!

Overall, WONDERFUL place! It reminded me of being in my small, country hometown and sort of takes you back to simpler times!

For starters, the staff is just wonderful. Very helpful and extremely friendly, just the kid of atmosphere I want! The prices meet or beat local grocery stores. We always get our beef and chicken here!!! The dog logs the smoked treats as well!!!

Friendly works, and great prices! Also try the seasonings, hot sauces, bbq rubs. Seriously a great place never a bad experience. Make sure to get your dog a bone, or pig ear treat when you visit.

I picked up some beef heart and ground beef mix for fresh food for my dogs. The butchers were so helpful and kind. They chopped up liver for the mix as well. I will be returning for more. All meats there are human grade. If you eat meat, it is a beautiful and clean shop. I recommend it highly.

We LOVE Johns! Anytime we need steak, we always go here. I love the vast amount of spices and sauces they have on hand as well. My fiancè also took his deer here last year, and they had it done SO quickly, it was awesome!

Great meat at a fair price best beacon i have every had. Would never buy my meat from a grocery store. Does not compare to John's butcher shop. Friendly and efficient staff great owners all around very good business
