Casual restaurant serving delicious, authentic Ethiopian food. The veggie platter was perfect, super tasty and filling. The injera it was served with was great. Staff was friendly. Left full and satisfied.

Excellent food in Washington DC. I’m not an expert in Ethiopian cuisine, but I really enjoyed everything… both lamb and vegetarian options. Food was savory and flavorful. All of the different items were distinctive in flavor. That Injera was really nice. Soft and delicious. Easy to eat with. When visiting the area I would return!

We had a wonderful meal here. We ordered the combination meat AND combination vegetable and it was enough for 5 people. We also had the coffee at the end of the meal which was a presentation of roasting the beans. Ample parking exclusive to the restaurant adjacent. And it's a real Ethiopian community hang out. Will definitely come back.

The most tender injera I have had in the US. Effoi offers imported injera which is a luxury worth traveling to Silver Spring for.
There was a coffee ceremony which was a nice offering.
Prices are fair. The platter serves 2 or you can take home leftovers.
Food was fresh, customer service was attentive.
I would recommend Effoi.

Best Ethiopian in the DC area! Delicious, authentic and served with a smile. It’s my favorite go-to place. Guaranteed to be fantastic every time!

An exceptionally delicious experience, and considering DC inflation, comfortably and generously priced. Entrees were delightful and incredibly flavorful, but what sealed the deal was the baklava, which I would get again and again - I thought I would pack some of it up, but I polished the plate instead.

Exemplary, would recommend to anyone in the area.

I used to live near U. St in DC and in Silver Spring. This is the best Ethiopian food in the DMV area, hands down.

I ordered take-out. The host was so obliging in explaing the menu items. The kitchen packed my food thoughtfully making sure to include condiments in small sepatate containers, so no spillovers. The best Ethiopian restaurant in downtown Silver Spring.

The quality and variety of the food were superb. I would definitely advise to try the Effoi Special and the veggie combo. Finish the meal with some Ethiopian special coffee.

This place is special. Their food is amazing, customer service is excellent and they have a small our door tables.
Fridays and weekends are pretty busy. I recommend coming little early if you have large groups lunch or dinner.

Budget friendly, great food and enough vegetarian options.

You don't go to Effoi for fine dining, you go there for a homely vibe with great food at a very cheap price.
I have had their vegetarian platter and the special Ethiopian tea (without Sambuca), and both were excellent.

Platter comes with a variety of veggies of which the top two according to me are the red lentil stew and the chickpeas stew. It's served on two injeras that are more than enough for two people. And the best thing is, all of this for $16 for two people. Best meal for a student on a budget.

The tea is clove and cinnamon infused hot water with a tea bag, and a perfect hot drink to end your dinner on a chilly winter night.

Note that both times I went there, the vegan meat options on the menu were unavailable. To my knowledge, everything on the vegetarian platter is dairy and eggs free, and thus vegan, but keep in mind that the vegan meat substitute might not be available.

Effoi is my favorite Ethiopia restaurant in silvers spring. I have been here for couple of times delicious and healthy food… in my opinion it’s the cleaner Ethiopia restaurant in the area. nice and friendly waiters. If u love Ethiopia food I recommend you to check this place.

Delicious food, great service, and a relaxing atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and check it out. The fish gulash was so good!

Holy moly! Woah! Over the last year I tried more then 20 different Ethiopian restaurants and Effoi is one of the Top 3 in my list! You are awesome.

We went for the grand opening today, July 2nd. A beautiful and warm setting to share a meal with a date or with friends. Excellent and warm service, server made an excellent recommendation that the veggie combo was a good start for the two of us and we can order more if we got hungry. There was so much food!! Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. We got complimentary injera and some mitmita and berbere spice on the side. Since it was their grand opening, they gave us a glass of champagne each on the house. Bravo, Effoi! We look forward to returning in the future!

Oh wow is this place great! The food here is mouth watering. My companion and I destroyed a veggie platter with some added kitfo. The service is excellent but be prepared for a little bit of a language barrier if you want anything too complicated. We managed to communicate a potato allergy but it took a minute. It was all good in the end though. Everyone was patient and kind and it got worked out.

There is at table coffee service that is separate from the meal check. Bring cash for coffee service ($6 for two plus tip). The coffee service person also takes cash app but I got the impression cash was preferred. Coffee was a delight. I highly recommend it.

Overall we had a wonderful time at Effoi and will definitely go back. I definitely recommend it to others.

Delicious food served in a warm neighborhood atmosphere. Slow Ethiopian, or maybe Eritrean, music playing. Clearly popular among the Ethiopians.
