A yarn and pattern/books wonderland (and buttons)! I worked the Sew Expo in Puyallup and stayed on an extra day. I am so glad I visited here. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I also found some amazing fabrics. This Philadelphia girl will be back next year for sure!!

This shop is absolutely wonderful! They have an amazing selection of yarns. I had checked Joann's and didn't find the colors that I wanted in the right fiber content for my little sea turtle coasters, so started googling yarn stores around. I am so glad that I decided to give this one a try.
There was a much bigger selection of quality yarns than I expected. The women in the shop were super sweet and helpful. With all of the various kinds of yarn they have, it was surprisingly well-organized and easy to find exactly what I was looking for.
I also loved seeing all of the completed projects on display throughout the store. There will definitely be more visits here in my future as it was an entirely enjoyable experience. I highly recommend stopping in to check them out!

Very cool! Huge selection of yarn, everything from standards like Malabrigo and Cascades to highly unusual fibers (wire and paper? Pineapple!? Wow!) Winn is very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about yarn and yarn craft. Absolutely worth a trip, you’re sure to find something you can’t leave without.

A yarn wonderland, with many rooms for different fibers, a tremendous selection, fabulous lighting, and warm and helpful staff. There's a nice conference table where you can sit and look at patterns or lay out yarns to see them together, and where my spouse hangs out if we go together. Coffee or tea is often available, and that makes him happy. Clean bathrooms. It's easy to plan a project there.

During lockdown, while customers weren't allowed inside, I could call and describe what I wanted, even if I wasn't exactly sure what was available, and they'd find the closest thing they had and bring it to the parking lot. Really a high level of service, then and now.

My daughter told me about this place, that she buys her yarn there if at all possible. Monday is her birthday so I bought her a gift certificate. Very nice folks to deal with 😄

Such an amazing little store! Win, Roberta, and Dorothy are all incredibly nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. The yarn is all very high quality, no synthetics here. They also offer one on one sessions to help learn to knit! Can't recommend this place enough

Absolutely amazing, absolutely astonishing. There is a great variety of fabrics, thread yarns, threads, patterns, buttons and related paraphernalia. The knowledge and expertise of the staff was a sight to see.

If you are involved in any way in the fabric arts, you need to go to this place.

Enjoyed my first time!
I love the choices the store has. I'm vegan looking for vegan yarns and there were plenty and the store was huge!
Happy girl and will definitely come back again!
Hoping to come back to take some classes, once the store is able and Covid subsides.

Roberta, Dorothy, and Wynn are awesome people. It was a pleasure speaking to them; very kind, helpful as well. I'm just looking forward to taking weaving classes once we're able to schedule. Glad to have found somewhere close!

This store is much, much bigger than I expected. They probably have thousands of different kinds of yarn. I came in with an idea but no list of specific items, and the kind women working helped me tremendously, bringing me constant recommendations and giving me invaluable advice. They don't have a crazy markup, from what I've seen, it's only ever 1-2$ more than online retail, but it's worth so much more than that to be able to feel the fabrics and get feedback directly. I will always come back here vs. buying online and I hope they never close. Best LYS (local yarn store) I have EVER been to!

Incredible selection, very fair prices, and wonderful help and advice. Both times I've been it was an hour prior to closing and I felt like I could have spent 3 hours just looking at everything. Wynn was working the payment area both times and gave such helpful advice. She went above and beyond, printing me an info sheet on a past workshop, discussing knitting help times, etc. I hope they never close up shop!

What Fibers Etc lacks in terms of space and time (it's cramped and not open very many hours), it more than makes up for in terms of quality, selection and helpfulness. They carry a huge selection of my favorite, Madeline Tosh. It's worth the trip just for that eye candy. I once bought a skein of Prism yarn for a scarf, didn't get around to making the scarf for several years, and then found that I hadn't bought enough yarn. I went in hoping to find more, only to find that the manufacturer had completely changed the color--not just a different dyelot, but reformulated the color altogether. The woman helping me remembered seeing the old color and spent 15 minutes looking through their back room storage until she found the last two skeins in the bottom of a box. That's the kind of service you'll get! It's a great place.

Edit:
The store has since moved to a spacious place on Hood St, near Tacoma Elf Storage. It’s a lovely store. During non-pandemic times, they host knitting sessions in the back with plenty of natural light, and of course, their super helpful staff.

I go with my wife sometimes. She's a fiber artist who loves yarn and has very wide-ranging but specific requirements . She thinks Fibers etc is great. Also this new space is bigger so you can see the yarn a lot better than in the opera alley store. But if you go with a yarn lover who wants some time to work out a design then take a book or your phone. There are chairs. You'll be there a while.

What an amazingly overwhelming store! I was warmly greeted and given offers of help by 3 different ladies upon entering. They were helpful when I had questions. SO much yarn! A little bit of fiber/spinning things, and quite a bit of weaving supplies. I will be back and woul recommend this shop to anyone!

This is the Grande Dame of fiber stores in Tacoma. Fibers Etc has been around for over 20 years. Their newest location is large and allows all the beautiful inventory to be properly displayed.
Every kind of yarn you can imagine is here, along with weaving, felting and knitting supplies, buttons, hand made items and a large cache of publications.
Highly Recommended.

Knowledgeable and kind to a novice knitter. I’m very excited about my soon-to-be new hat. The selection of quality yarns was amazing, and a veritable rainbow of colors. Thank you again!

Astronomical yarn selection. You can find any color or style you desire. Needle selection is a bit limited but they also have a wall of buttons and a moderate selection of fiber for felting or spinning. Very nice staff.
