Horseback Riding at Cedar Crest Stables in the Cibola National Forest. Lodging/Vacation Rental

Took a 2 hour tour for my girlfriends birthday and it was beautiful. Great information and clear instructions on how to be safe as this was my first time riding a horse. The guide was great, he told us some good facts about the trail and even cracked a few jokes along the way. I would absolutely recommend this and I would ride again next time I'm in New Mexico! Great time out there. Giddy up!

My family and I had a wonderful experience at Cedar Crest Stables. We enjoyed a two hour guided ride through the Cibola National Forest with Donald, who was a great guide. We are all novice riders and we felt right at ease with his instruction and horses. Beautiful views and easy to get to from I-40. Would highly recommend! 🐴

Donald was an excellent host and guide. My family really enjoyed our ride. The horses were well taken care of and trained. Highly recommend this experience, no riding experience needed to enjoy!

Wonderful riding on a beautiful property ! Donald was friendly and kept the ride fun. His horses are very well behaved. He also had a B&B in the back.

My mom and I went on the two hour ride while we were in town for the Balloon Fiesta. We had the best time. Donald really made our ride enjoyable, the sights were incredible, and the horses were beautiful. Highly recommended.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time on our winter horseback riding adventure! This was a great family owned business on a beautiful plot of land and the entire ride was incredibly enjoyable. We also loved Donald’s cool facts and dad jokes. We hope to visit again soon!

My husband and I came to NM on our anniversary road trip. We found Cedar Crest Stables online and were impressed by the reviews, website and excited to see Cibola National Forest on horseback. Don was able to get us on a trail ride with another group the same day. He was a great instructor, full of details about the area and had the best cowboy dad jokes. The horses seemed healthy, well taken care of and were very sure footed on the rocky trails. The scenery was really beautiful too.

This is a superb and authentic way to experience the Cibola national forest and the landscape in this region of New Mexico.

I emailed Don then figured I should call since I assumed he gets booked fast. He thanked me for calling and as I found out on our ride, he will answer his cell phone while out on the trail to at least tell you he'll call you back. He does not check and respond to emails while out on trails. Best to call if you want information or to schedule.

Well worth the trip and the price, absolutely. The horses are amazing and Don is helpful, friendly, and inclusive regardless of your experience and/or comfort level with horses.

We did the 2-hour option; he stated over the phone that the 3 and 4 hour options are not available during the winter due to the conditions on the trails.

If I am ever back in this area again, I will definitely be calling up Cedar Crest to book another trail ride.

Donald is so sweet! He and his granddaughter Shaylee guided us! They kept us safe throughout the ride and Donald is very caring with customers and horses and tells the best stories/jokes! Thank you both for an amazing experience!

Traveling through New Mexico and stayed at the turquoise trail campground and was very lucky to find a trail riding place right next door. I was able to book a ride for the afternoon as we were not arriving until noon. Donald made it super easy to schedule and I was not disappointed with the ride at all. It was spectacular. The Cibola National Forrest was beautiful and to experience it on horseback was even more amazing. Donald was so friendly and his horses very well cared for. I would definitely recommend to people who want a great first experience on a horse or an experienced rider.

My wife and I were in Albuquerque for a couple days for work. Donald was super friendly and accommodating. Appreciated his dry sense of humor and knowledge of the area. Horses were very well-tempered and the views were stunning. Highly recommend. 2 hours was perfect. I am not sure if $40 per hour per rider is standard or not. Seemed a bit pricey but at the end we enjoyed it so much we left 25 extra for tip.

Excellent owners. They even waited for us when we got stuck in traffic behind an accident. Beautiful location, and the trails are gorgeous winding through the forest. The horses are some of the best I have ever been on. We will be back for sure.

I've been on several trail rides and Cedar Crest Stables is the best! The horses were well trained, Donald (owner) is great, and the beauty on the trail is amazing. Donald helped calm the nerves of my two children (8 & 10) and to make it one of our top experiences while visiting New Mexico. I would highly recommend.

Don is a great fella with people skills like very few have. His Love for his animals & his guests will stay with us always. Remember to give him a BiG tip at the end of Ur ride! He deserves it honestly

We absolutely loved our stay at the cottage and our horseback riding excursion! Donald was a so welcoming and so much fun to ride with! His horses were very easy to ride and the scenery was awesome! Was a great experience and we highly recommend not only the horseback riding but a stay at the cottage! We will definitely be back our next trip to the area! Definitely a great memory for our honeymoon!

I’m from North Carolina, and was looking for something fun to do while visiting Albuquerque! I googled horseback riding nearby, and this popped up! It was the best horseback riding experience I have had! Riding thru the mountains was beautiful! I would recommend the 2 hour scenic view to see then mountains! Horses were very people friendly, and the horse guide/ owner did a wonderful job telling us about the local area. He was a nice people friendly person! Highly recommend this if you want to see the mountains on horseback, peaceful setting! I will be doing this again, when I come back to visit!

This is by far one of the easiest and fun adventures that I have had with my family in a long time. The owner is extremely nice, informative, patient with younger children, and makes the entire experience enjoyable while cracking jokes. The ranch is beautiful! The horses are well-behaved. It started to rain while we were on our ride, but I had ponchos because I’m always prepared. The rain made the ride beautifully epic. We saw a bunch of deer while it was drizzling. When the fog came out the forest was peaceful and remarkably breathtaking. I felt the stress melt away and I think was able to breathe for the first time in a long time! Two words are extraordinarily beautiful. I recommend horseback riding with this company!

Our family (4 adults and 1 teenager) enjoyed a 2-hour trail ride guided by Donald on April 1, 2021. He prepared us well with safety instructions before we mounted, then led us on several narrow trails in the forest, providing interesting commentary -- and humor --along the way.We highly recommend this adventure, but watch out for his riddles! Our only complaint was about sore muscles the next day. We highly recommend this for a great experience and lots of laughs.
