Joe is amazing and Querencia is the perfect rustic, cozy place to stay for your trip to Montana. Unassuming, comfortable and casual, everyone will feel welcome here. The home has everything you need to be comfortable and the location can't be beat. We even had a photographer come out to the property to take family photos. Can't say enough good things about Joe and his property!

We boarded our dog here while we traveled around Yellowstone. Joe was super nice and accommodating, knowledgeable about dogs. There are big open spaces for your dog to run and play with others. Overall a great place for our dog when she wasn't with us. Would definitely recommend!

Joe took great care of our border collie for a couple of days while we explored Yellowstone. Malcolm (our BC) needs a lot of exercise and play, and I believe he got it. Personal attention, along with acres to play in, including pond and stream, really made this the best choice for our active dog. Mal seemed reluctant to leave with us when we picked him up!

Joe is the BEST! He is incredibly knowledgeable about the area—wildlife, hikes, places to eat, sightseeing, etc. It’s very obvious how much he loves and cares for this area.
It’s also so much fun to watch how much time and thought he puts into training and caring for his dogs and the dogs entrusted to him. He is firm, but loving; has high expectations of the canines, but knows how to provide what each dog needs to learn and grow. His passion for what he does is almost palpable.
Joe is also a wonderful conversationalist if you snag him during any downtime: he knows history, movies, literature, philosophy and a myriad of other subjects, I loved discussing anything with him.
As for the lodge itself, words can’t describe how beautiful this place is: nestled among the Absaroka mountains alongside the Yellowstone/Mill Creek confluence under the Milky Way. At night you can hear elk in the distance, and the sunsets and sunrises are a dream.
The lodge has everything you need: comfy beds, leather sofas, fire pit, wood stove, a small library, lots of areas to sit and read or enjoy the scenery, and a tv (though if you’re watching tv I guarantee you’re missing out). You’re perfectly situated between Livingston and Yellowstone, and everything in between.
I’ll definitely be staying here again, both for the spectacular views and to be able to catch up with Joe. It’s not often such great relationships are forged in such a small time, but Joe is definitely a new friend.

Absolutely LOVED our stay here! Joe is very thoughtful and great company! He let my boyfriend join him and all his four legged crew (he also operates a kennel on his property) on his 'evening walk' to the River. He treats us like family! Heck, he even made us dinner!! What a great stay. 😊
Thanks Joe!
