Claus' German Sausage & Meat

First time in a German, butcher shop, and it was a great experience. We weren't sure what exactly we wanted, but the lady working behind the counter was really patient and helped us pick what wursts would work best for the recipe we were trying to make.

When you walk in, there's a counter with all sorts of meats. They also have items listed that they can get you from the back!

The place felt super authentic!

I've been here more than a few times now and every time I go in able to find something interesting to try. I recommend the cajun salami if your into something with a bit of spice. The folks that work here (I imagine their the owners) are happy to help and always pleasant. Prices are affordable for the quality of the meats.

Real old world butcher. A sausage meister. Hard salami, juicy pork chops, lean ground chuck, and sausages of every sort. Staff is efficient and very helpful. Will cut meals to you order. Try something new each time you visit. Prices are reasonable for the quality.

The woman who handled my transaction was very patient and gave me a detailed explanation of what precautions are taken to ensure that the vast majority of the menu is safe for me (I have Celiac, a nasty gluten allergy, but the food was prepared very well). I ordered a half-pound of three different sausage varieties to get a diverse sample, and found the prices to be completely reasonable at face value. I found the price to be even more appealing when I got home and tried the Italian Sausage- for a similar price to supermarket sausage, you get a product that tastes ten times better! I am going to Claus' every time I want sausage from now on!

Stopped in for the first time to get some ground lamb meat to make shepherd's pie. Web site said to call ahead and they were great to talk to yesterday and then had the lamb ready to go when I got there.

Was a great experience and had I not been in a hurry and on a budget I'd have gotten more while I was there: I will be back again. Great gem here off the beaten path in Indy.

This place is the real deal. Come here for authentic German selections and fresh cut meats.

This place is fantastic! From the moment you step inside, you are greeted by the aroma of smoked meats. A carnivore's paradise! So many meats and sausages to choose from, many of which are difficult or impossible to find elsewhere (at least within a reasonable distance.) Brats, kielbasa, mortadella, even getta! Good luck finding that one anywhere else outside of the Cincinatti area! The folks working there are suoer nice, and extremely patient. Prices seem pretty reasonable, too, considering all of the sausages are made right there, instead of being ahipped in from halfway across the country. You can't get fresher unless you make it yourself. Most of the stuff there seems to priced somewhere around $8 per pound. Definitely worth checking out!

Great selection of authentic German sausages, smoked meats, fresh meats, and cold cuts. Bring cash because they charge for using credit cards, I don’t blame them though the fees the card companies charge are hard for small businesses.

Family owned. Smells so good in here, as they must have been smoking some meats. Claus is a master sausage maker from Frankfurt, Germany. No preservatives or fillers. Closed Sun and Mon.

Ahhh... The aroma of smoked meat! Wonderful butcher shop with great and friendly service. They really have a lot of fresh products to choose from. Delicious sausages. It was worth the drive from Westfield and definitely coming back!

Wow, just wow! This place is great. I went to my regular butcher only to find out that they had permanently closed. I ended up here. The quality is great, the service was amazing. If you need a butcher, or some smoked meat this is the place to be

My girlfriend ate all my Landjäger!!! Haha All jokes aside my dad use to take me here as a kid and about 18/17 years later they are still in business. Great staff to work with. Very friendly and patient. Meats are amazing!! Such a wide selection, Just a matter of what to take home. This will be my new weekly/bi-weekly stop from now on. It’s like a tradition

This place is AMAZING! We come here to get fresh meat for special occasions and we have never been disappointed. Everything is always well stocked, fair priced, and tastes delicious. They always give us good advice on what cuts to get and everyone's always super nice. Great store.

Longtime legendary Indianapolis Butcher and Meat Shop. My Dad would take me to the old location on South street when i was a kid. I remember it had a sort of glass block type of wall or something similar inside. Thankfully they are still around and have kept this place in the family. Best meat you can buy in Indy and the ONLY place to go for anything German. Probably the best sausages in Indy. I recommend the Kielbasa, Knackwurst and the spicy Cajun sausages. They also have hard to find stuff like tongue and head cheese. Prices are reasonable but quality is over the top. Im sure Claus will make a special cut or take a request. Meat lovers paradise here and sausage heaven. Nothing like store bought. Claus is a good guy ( and pretty funny) - he and the staff are all very helpful as well. Try it it you havent already.

As soon as I walked in, I knew I would be leaving with something. It smells so amazing, there are no words. I came in not really knowing what I wanted so I asked for suggestions. Left with 8 lamb chops and 8 sausages for $50. The lamb looks amazing and the sausages are HUGE. You won't be disappointed. Check this place out.
