The Lost Frenchman

We had the Tara, prosciutto, and Italian pizzas. All very good. I liked the Tara because of the honey which had just the right amount of sweetness. The Italian had more mushroom on it then sausage, but it was really good and flavorful.
There is a full menu listed including paninis and salads, but this is only for lunch. The dinner menu is strictly pizza. It's good and I would recommend eating there, just something to be aware of for visitors to the area.
There isn't a kids menu, but our toddler had the appetizer cheese bread and he enjoyed it. There are also other kid friendly pizzas.
It was a relaxed environment so it was a great place to go after driving and hiking for the day.

After spending some time with a friend in shelter cove, we began to make our way back to Sacramento from the iconic redwoods. My travel companion is a staunch organic foodie, and has high expectations of what is worthy of consumption. I bounce back and forth between California and Italy, and I have high expectations of my wine and my pizza. Both of us were incredibly stoked on what this place offers. Upon walking in we were immediately greeted with the aromas of their wood fired pizza oven, and were pleasantly surprised at the comprehensive list of beverages available, including some local natural wines. The staff were super friendly and were happy to accommodate my ridiculous requests, we ended up splitting a carciofi burrata pizza with salsiccia and salsa bianco, definitely not a standard menu option. It was the firest pizza I’ve had outside of Italy. Jordan our server made the entire experience so pleasant and relaxing that we will never hesitate to repeat our visit anytime we pass through this sacred section of the California coast. Top Notch, a perfect representation of the mellow bounty to be found in what once was the hustle and bustle of old Humboldt farm culture.

Absolutely delicious!!! My wife and I were staying in the area for a few days and found this gem. We ate here a few times during our stay, and I would definitely recommend if you're in the area.
We had the pulled pork sandwiches jalapeño burger, Hawaiian burger, and the norcal pizza...all were delicious.

Fantastic food. Stopped here for breakfast after finishing the Lost Coast trail and it 1000% hit the spot. Had a great cup of coffee, and the breakfast taco was a ton of food and totally delicious.

Excellent lunch spot. Food was delicious beyond our expectations and ingredients seemed fresh. The owners were super friendly and nice- would return!

Stopped in a few times during our week in the Redwoods. I would recommend everything! During our trip, we had the pulled pork sandwiches, Hawaiian burger, Jalepeno burger and Nor Cal pizza! So 💣!! Must stop for good eats!!

Absolutely love this place! The food is prefection. Whether you want breakfast, lunch or dinner you can come here and never be disappointed with anything. We love the fresh brick oven pizza and the pizza sauce is really really good. For me it's the most important part of the pizza and it was fantastic. If you're just driving through and are questioning where to go, no question about it, come here!

I had the Royal Veggie and my partner had the meatball appetizer. We'd do both again.

Loved the grilled eggplant, mushrooms and goat cheese combo.

The service was a tint, very tiny, bit slow as several tables finished up. If you run into a wait it's worth the wait. Delicious.

My family’s favorite pizza place in Humboldt/mendocino county! When traveling through the area we always stop to pick up a Margherita and a Tara pizza. We have high pizza standards and we hold them in high regards!

Very tasty pizza!! I ordered take out here a couple of times and was pleasantly surprised both times. The pizza here is anassumingly fresh and delicious. I would recommend their margherita with a glass of Glenlivet. The Royal Veggie was very good as well. The combination of eggplant and goat cheese is very refreshing. Especially after a day out around in the memerizing redwood forests.

So yep we get to here from vermont by way of Mountain View, to see nature and run race, and we’re all out of nature. Just bussin no cap this nature goes on forever we saw the red wood and it went up up up up to the heavens past the clouds into the great wide open and I’m just knee high to a grasshopper etc etc but we are really here to also run a race that’s no joke. We three banditos bake cookie, did NOT throw llama dice, drove here, watched rain fall, drank my first Yerba mate, etc etc, and friends when i tell you it feels small looking up at the big mammajamma trees I understand how that Frenchman got lost out here bomp bomp bomp. So then we got to the restaurant and immediately I used the facility (just for number one!) and after finishing my business I reuned with my crew at our table. The waitstaff was a nice balance of humble, and educated on the frenchmans wares, and down to earth. and we got pazzo maybe too much but we were hungry so even before we saw a nickel of that pizza we got a bucket of salad to split - it’s good to be finding yourself eating a vegetable, at times. I tried to shake the Frenchman’s hand for putting the dip in the shippity dip de dip but he is lost as above. Consider me a Francophile! (Not in the Spanish sense, Viva La Quinta brigdada etc etc✊) anyone else go to intergalactic trash they in their YouTube if you need them?

Amazing pizza - literally the best we've ever eaten. Not over-sauced, so tastes are balanced beautifully, and almost everything is housemade and very local, including wine and beers. Service friendly, befitting the small town setting. I'm only sorry they're 4 hours from home! Came back the next two mornings for breakfast smoothies, which were delicious.

This place feels like home but tastes better. I’ve been here a few times when passing through and it’s so good that I actually schedule around making sure I can eat here in both directions. I got to try their special Christmas Eve Brunch last year before backpacking and I was thinking about it for days.

legitimately amazing. if i lived closer this would be one of my favorite restaurants. amazing smoothies and pizzas.

Excellent Pizzas. We tried the Veg Pizza and the Chicken Pizza and both were fantastic. The patio seating is a nice spot and has a bit of shade under the trees. Would absolutely come back again!

What a nice surprise to find the lost French man on a long day trip through the Avenue of the giants. Didn’t expect to find an excellent goat cheese salad, delicious pizza, excellent local wines and great beer. Didn’t try any of the specials of the day, which looked absolutely delicious. Very casual back deck under canopies and trees, or cool off in the indoor dining room. Can’t lose on the food for sure and the service is provided so cheerfully! We will be back when we’re in the area again for sure.
