Definitely a hidden gem. Found this café looking for a breakfast spot. The gentleman behind the counter was kind and patient as we figured out what we wanted. I had the smoked salmon sandwich which came with chips and a salad and a latte. The sandwich, salad, and coffee were delicious even if not a typical breakfast combo. Everything we ordered was made to order but the wait time was respectable and gives time to enjoy the eclectic decor. Would absolutely go back again.

I love this little place. I really do. Prices are reasonable (americano for $2.50!) and its just so stinking adorable. The only thing is I've come by several times when it was supposed to be open but wasn't.

Accidentally found this gem when looking for a place to work on my laptop. Kind Nigerian man welcomed me and made me a nice cup of cappuccino and smoke salmon salad. Beautiful ambience with jazz playing on the speakers. I'll definitely be back.

I love Zed's! With the new grand opening I'm grateful it's still in the neighborhood. The veggie omelet on croissant and salad is delicious. The service is slow but the staff is friendly. It feels like home.

An unplanned visit to this coffee shop. Ordered regular coffee and a slice of corn bread. Both were good.
Young man behind the counter is very friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed the music and decor. Looking forward to my next visit.

Silver Spring is blessed with a plethora of independent coffee shops. Keffa's cafe(s) are justifiably famous, and Kaldi's has an excellent kitchen and space. If you like paying more than you should, Bump n Grind is a good option.

But Zed? Zed makes his café special. One big living room is the motto, and he has made it live up to that,. He and his staff are always friendly and if you turn up often enough they will take the time to know you. The kitchen offers a reasonable selection at a reasonable set of prices and the pastries are second to none.

I recommend the iced tea, but they have a decent selection of hot teas. Apparently, the espressos can be a bit hit and miss, but I've never been unhappy. Prices are set and I've never seen more than one size, but you get a fair sized cup for your money. Easily comparable to Starbucks or Peets, our two local chains.

While I've never seen it at its busiest, there are rarely more than one or two staff present. The staff bring your drink and food to the table, which can slow things down at a lunch crowd, but the feeling of relaxation is good enough to make up for a wait.

There is wifi and curbside parking, and hidden in back a lovely outside seating area. Currently overlooking construction, but c'est la vie.

I love this cafe, I come here for the food and atmosphere. It has a cute quirky vibe to it. I would suggest coming here in the early morning durning a weekday otherwise there will be a line. The coffee is good but the food out shines it.

Zed's is a hidden gem of Georgia Avenue. From the found furniture feel to the plant-filled back patio, it's a chill place to eat, drink, or merely be. The coffee beans and roasts are high quality, the food is delightful, and the owner is very friendly. Try the quiche, salmon, or baked goods, it's all nice.

I lived in the DMV area for 15 years and discovered this place a year before leaving, and it legitimately makes me a little sad to not have had greater opportunity to be at Zed's.

I come here couple of times a month to have a coffee and apple pie and work in its calm environment. The WiFi is great. If I'm not in coffee mood, they also have a selection of loose leaf teas and I'll go with one of them. The people working here are always smiling and polite. Restroom is clean and drinking water is accessible.

Excellent spot for studying with quite background music! I like the atmosphere. I usually order americano or chai-latte. I forget to mention they made an excellent breakfast/lunch! Zed make sure your stay is convenient!

A homey cafe with unique and diverse decorations. Stepping into the cafe for the first time, customers will feel like they're entering the living room of someone well-traveled displaying a collection of their adventures. They also have some books on shelves for people to read and I spotted a number of art books to my delight. They also have art by local artists on display and for sale. They use fresh ingredients for their food and they have a breakfast and lunch menu. They also now serve alchoholic drinks! An instant favorite for creatives, introverts and coffee lovers alike.

Feels so homey inside! Great coffee (plus other drinks for the non-coffee drinker), breakfast and lunch options, seating, wifi, and power outlets. Major plus is the patio in the back

First time there. Had the delicious veggie omelette. Best food I have had in a long time. Quality ingredients including quality cheeses. Nice croissant. Yummy side salad. You can get the breakfast menu all day. Really nice environment with art on the wall. Comfy seating. Coffee smelled amazing but I was already caffeinated on arrival. Near Silver Spring metro, the library, and the more corporate places of Ellsworth. A little to far to be my "local", but I will try to get here every time I am in downtown SS.

Love the intimate living room atmosphere. I've also seen some cool unique groups perform here. I come here often to do some late night studying; definitely a cozier environment than the nearby Kaldi's if you're looking to focus. I don't think the coffee is anything special (though serving sizes are big), but the atmosphere is enough to take me back.

I really enjoyed this gem. Service was excellent and food and coffee delectable. A little slice of home on Georgia Ave right near the Silver Spring Metro Station. Zed's has a hodgepodge of tables and chairs, complimented by plants and a piano coffee table. Cute and yummy - worth a trip!
