Dr De Souza is the best doctor I’ve found, period. And I’ve worked with doctors all over the western USA. He’s helped all of the ladies of my family, including my aunts, mother and grandmother, with family history of hyper-hypo thyroid. He has reassured me in so many ways, and helped me to stop worrying about my health (excellent bedside manner). I have experienced a wild amount of doctors who are lazy/misdiagnose/overdiagnose and Dr De Souza is quite the opposite. Thank you for your care Dr De Souza, for me and my entire family!

Dr. Desouza has been amazing for me. He is direct, but easy to talk to. I never have to wait for my appointment. He is very punctual.

A very good Doctor for me, I enjoy my visits Everytime. And my Diabetes educator. They take good care of me and I've seen many doctors in my 28 years of being a diabetic. Give him a chance.

Wonderful Doctor! Kind and firm at the same time. Knows what to do for you and gives you a hard time in a kind way if you aren’t doing your part in your own health.

Couldn't have asked for a better meeting with someone knowlegable and direct, knowing the upheaval of being 4 weeks post open heart surgery and difficulties compounded by diabetes. The support and direction will be an asset in the years to come.

Not super impressed. I felt like after being a diabetic for almost 10 years, that I knew more then he could teach me. Chided me for a small scoop of granola in yogurt, then suggested I use just fruit. Uhm... Both spike sugar, soooo yeah. Then his receptionist called about a refill for my dexcom and was extremely rude. I should have just told her I was looking for a new endocrinologist because I am EXTREMELY unimpressed with him as a doctor and the office staff as well. If you enjoy being talked down to, this is the perfect place for you.

I am beyond disappointed. If your patient requests a complete thyroid panel test and you only test 2 things (!!), how is that in any way helpful?? Patients have a right to have their questions answered and requests followed. Not a good doctor.

I've been battling with hypothyroid symptoms for a few years now but didn't see a doctor about it and have been just dealing with it. During the birth of my second daughter, I needed help with labor and got pitocin (synthetic oxytocin) and everything was more or less perfect for the first couple of months until I started feeling like I had before. I felt like my children needed more of me, and that was when I went to get checked. My primary diagnosed me with postpartum depression and we tried a few antidepressants with no change. I never felt that was my problem, so they ran tests. My tsh and t3 levels were within normal range but my t4 levels are really low. I waited 2 months for an appointment with deSouza and he saw me for MAYBE 10 minutes. He walked in with his mind set that I didn't have thyroid issues based on my levels and the way the thyroid felt. I told him about my symptoms (including being more clumsy lately and falling down stairs multiple times) and he skipped over all of it and told me I needed to go to bed earlier (insomnia) and that I had postpartum depression. Everything points to an issue with the pituitary (releases oxytocin and controls thyroid hormones) and he will do nothing about checking it. He sent a note to my primary doctor about his "findings" and called me Lillian (not even close to Cailin). He had very poor bedside manners. I would 100% recommend to AVOID this doctor.

Shame on Dr. Desouza and his staff. He has failed his patients by not being willing to order a full thyroid blood work up! Why wouldn't a doctor want to evaluate a new patient with as much information as possible, especially when dealing with the thyroid? We requested a complete blood work up to look at all the thyroid markers, not just their standard go so screening of the TSH and T4 levels, they REFUSED! Said, "that's not what they do"! HOW can a doctor treat a patient if they fail to do their due diligence in completely evaluating the patient? Doctors have forgotten their oath to first and foremost "Do No Harm". When any doctor REFUSES to do a full blood work up related to the thyroid markers, they are NOT doing their due diligence to treat and NOT cause harm to their patients. When your receptionist hangs up on their patients it shows you have lost your focus...YOUR PATIENTS, the PEOPLE who need your help! When was the last time any of these doctors read a recent medical journal? Doctors are NOT God! Doctors are fleecing America and causing harm to patients by failing to look outside what they learned in medical school 30 years ago and embracing medical advancements. I blame the pharmaceutical companies as much as some of these doctors...quit making it about the almighty dollar and filling your pockets, get back to listening to your patients and caring for them! It isn't about YOU doctor...it is about US!

After having a hard time and feeling awful my doctor checked my prolactin levels, they were very elevated over a long period of time so they sent me to De Souza.. they were concerned that maybe I had something on or wrong with my pituitary gland. They sent me for a scan and set up an appointment with him to review the scan..
He waltzed in the room.. “yeah, you have a small tumor on your pituitary gland.. nothing to be concerned about.. see you in a year” waltzed out.. no explanations.. just dropped the word tumor and passed me along to worry for a year before seeing him again.. I was distraught. I called back to talk to him again and he was very short and didn’t make me feel any better. A year later he called it a cyst and said I was “fine” and needed no further follow up.. with an extensive family history of cancer, I needed more answers and reassuring and he just Poo Pooed me.. I have heard from multiple people about his terrible bedside manner and I definitely agree.. I will leave the valley if I ever need to see an endocrinologist again.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. Rude, Arrogant, Dismissive, Pessimistic, Sexist, and honestly not a good doctor at all. I used to see him for Type 1 Diabetes management. Honestly after every appointment I was left feeling like he had never even TRIED to learn about Type1 Diabetes. Also: if you are a doctor you really shouldn’t yell (Yes, actual yelling) at a patient because of issues that aren’t even related to their condition.

My appointment with Dr Desouza left me feeling even more desperate than when I first went in. He has no knowledge about bioidentical hormone replacement (which was not what I went in for) but that didn't stop him from trying to get me to stop taking them. I explained all the ways they've improved my quality of life over the last 2 years and he said it was just a placebo affect - how arrogant! But it got even more frightening... I have an underactive thyroid and Dr Desouza only looked at the TSH to conclude that my thyroid was "just fine" despite other numbers that were way out of range (low T3, hight RT3), and all of my hypothyroid symptoms. He said those numbers didn't matter at all. In fact, he told me to forget all about treating my thyroid and get on antidepressants! I was horrified! Thankfully, I saw someone else who knew exactly what the problem was, worked out a treatment plan that took into consideration my bloodwork AND symptoms (which is extremely important) and I'm back to my happy, energetic self!

Apathetic, condescending and indifferent

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the other reviewer about these doctors not running the right tests. I saw Dr. Schneider and it didn't go well. I have thyroid disease and at first I had hope when I first met her that she was going to be alright I have never had any luck with endo's treating thyroid appropriately. Unfortunately, as the other reviewer stated she didn't run the right thyroid tests and goes by TSH only which is a Pituitary hormone and not a function of thyroid hormone at all, nor does it tell you what the thyroid hormone in your body is actually doing. Is it going in the cell or not? Doctors like these who don't run the right tests end up making patients sick and keeping patients sick. Find yourself a naturopath who will run the right tests or a functional medicine / internal medicine doctor who knows what they are doing. Avoid this office.
I was also having a problem with increased cortisol and I mentioned that to her and to please check me. She only checked cortisol am and acth and that's not how you diagnose high cortisol you have to run a 24hr urine cortisol test and suppressed acth test in order to diagnose high cortisol and plasma cortisol at night which I already had that was high. Apparently, she can't test right for that either. Avoid this office.
