I brought in a precious hat that was my Dad’s and Spencer helped to fit it to my head on the spot. Wearing this hat brings back wonderful memories of my sweet Dad and fills my heart with joy. Hat historian Spencer exposed me to a wondrous world of hat history. At this location they do not only sell hats, but make and repair them. With equipment dating back generations, they can still produce hats from forgotten eras. Totally unexpected visit that was exciting and memorable.

I just stopped in to browse and was impressed with the variety and quality of the hats, many made right there in their workshop. I didn't even realize how much I needed a new flat cap until I tried them on!

If you love hats, you need to go here. I found the hat I was looking for plus 2 others (went a little over-board). The staff was extremely nice and had some great tips on keeping my hats in good shape. They also do cleaning and repairs

I have bought a couple sun hats here now. There Shady Brady line is really stylish but still beach vibe. The staff is great and I will continue to be a customer. A hatter is a rare find these days so please support this unique business!

What a gem! Very old shop, feels like it's been around for a century. Great selection of a variety of styles of REAL hats (not like what you'll find on Amazon or in a contemporary store). Extremely helpful & knowledgeable staff. I'll be a regular here.

I got the BEST hat in the world at the Portobello Hat Shop.
The lady who runs it is incredibly nice; she totally gets that trying on a hat, finding the right hat, takes time and effort. She was so patient, and friendly without being intrusive, and helped me go through just about every hat in the store until I knew I had the right one.
Her hats are all beautifully made and sized to really fit correctly. I found a Panama style, natural woven plant fiber hand shaped and lined. It's the real deal; it's going to last me the rest of my life. It's a perfect warm weather hat, amazingly comfortable to wear - on hot sunny days it actually keeps my head cooler!
I'm going back in September to get another hat -- one for winter!
