The Hungarian Butcher

I appreciate their transparency where they source their meats.
Beside raw produce there are a lot prepared foods including cheese plates.
We tried the Sakura wagyu and it was delicious. The house made dill pickles were crunchy and good.

I’ve been going to the Hungarian Butcher for the last couple months, and my only regret is that I didn’t try them sooner. They have a great selection of fresh meat of all types. It’s locally sourced, and always delicious. It’s so much better, both in taste & nutrition, than what you get a a supermarket. They also have a number of cheeses, condiments, bone broth, tallow, etc. Not only is the meat top notch, but the entire staff is super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful!!! All this is why I’ve become a regular. LOVE THEM!!!

Once I opened the door I just knew I found my new Butcher. The smells were amazing. The service was excellent. Donnie answered all my questions and had plenty of information for me. He sliced my pork belly to the thickness I wanted. Everything was great. The presentation was excellent. Would highly recommend them for any of your meats or poultry. They also have a hot foods menu!!!

Well stocked. Everything looks fresh. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. We picked up Hungarian sausage, flank steak and some meats for a charcuterie board.

A friend sent me 4 WAGYU strip steaks for my birthday and they were amazing. I wanted that again but was hoping to find somewhere local. Hungarian Butcher showed Wagyu on their website so we came down from Delaware to check them out.

Friendly guy behind the counter said they only had tri-tip wagyu. Which was great because we were going to default to that if we couldn’t find wagyu. We’re originally from California and it’s our favorite smoked meat.

The guy recommended a full tri tip roast and we got it. It was $80ish for a little under 3 lbs. Zero trimming needed. There was a perfect amount of external fat. Just seasoned with salt, pepper, mesquite and special spices, BUT only a light coat. Smoked for 1 hour, flipped and did a light coat of butter to keep the dry side moist. Finished with another hour for a perfect rare center.

WOW. This surpasses any California Tri tip or mail order steak. And fed the whole family for $100 with sides. The trimming, the marbling, sweet fat between juicy layers was amazing. This will be our first choice for special occasions, guests, and any day that ends in Y.

I’m a New Yorker that swears by Katz pastrami and through out my pregnancy I have been hounding my husband for pastrami. We came here for my birthday, grabbed a lb of pastrami and container of mustard. As soon as we got in the car I tore into the pastrami and all of my cravings subsided, if they weren’t about to close I would have grabbed another 4 lbs.

So far I’ve made the classic pastrami on rye and substituted pastrami in for a carbonara (tastes just like a bacon egg and cheese).

10/10 definitely would recommend and will be back again!

Nice little shop that has a great selection of sausages, charcuterie, and other prepared items made in-house. They also always have both black (blood) and white sausages fresh in the case. There are a few cheeses on offer along with some dry goods as well.

Love this place! The owner was so helpful for meats for a holiday meal. Everything was so fresh and high quality, locally sourced and beautifully prepared.

Fantastic range of meats to choose from. Very helpful staff. I can't wait to return to explore more of the prepared goods in addition to the meat counter.

Dan and his staff are awesome. I try to stop in once a month to get a special steak or cut of meat. They always have different and unique stuff. The sausages are always on point and the pastrami is insanely good. Glad they are back open!

Simply put, the best Butcher shop in Columbus. I've been buying my meats (and pickles) from the Hungarian Butcher for awhile now and have always had my expectations exceeded. They are focused on quality and unique selections, and are the only place I'm aware of that is making their own cured meats. Dan slightly changes what they have in the cases week by week so you won't get bored if you're like me and go often. Really everything is top notch and locally sourced so you can't go wrong. Check it out! You'll never want to go to the grocery store again.

They have amazing kolbasz and wonderful customer service! My family is hooked. It’s become a holiday staple to bring this back home for the holidays. We are so grateful to have such a gem near us.

It's wonderful to see a local business that respects the traditions of farming and agriculture and animal husbandry. Slow food is essential for our health and well-being but it's also a lot of fun. Just had some English bangers from The Hungarian Butcher ... It took me home. My wonderful husband made the best mashed potatoes and onions with gravy for me, I closed my eyes and was 10 years old again. I'm not shy to admit that there were tears over how good this was! I never thought I would taste this in Ohio! This isn't the first time that Dan has recreated the best of British at his butchers shop....you will not be disappointed if you shop here, it's truly the best of the best. Thank you!

Quality meats, unique offerings between Hungarian dishes, charcuterie, and sausages, and other ready-to-eat foods. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. They're also very helpful with recommendations on cooking whatever you're buying. If you're into good food, you must visit this butcher shop and experience it yourself.

What could be better than a chef owned and operated butcher shop. The meat case is always full of top quality beef and pork products, as well as house made sausage and sides. On my last trip we purchased 30 day dry aged wagyu ribeyes, a pound of their house made bacon, which will ruin store bought bacon for you and a little of their pastrami. If you're looking to have an unforgettable meal at home, they are worth visiting
