Our son just finished his first year at Pioneer and will be moving on to 7th grade in the Fall. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this school. It is such a kind environment where he has been able to build confidence and is also consistently been pushed outside of his comfort zone. The focus is on so much more than academics. He has been able to learn so many important life skills and most importantly I love how much focus they put on the importance of just being a good human! We feel so grateful that there is an option like this in our area.

My son attended Pioneer School for the 18-19 school year. It was an amazing opportunity and a perfect fit for him. The middle grades are often difficult for students and Pioneer offered a perfectly structured, low pressure, high expectation educational program. The leadership in the school is supportive, caring and most of all extremely knowledgeable. In addition to the rigorous FLVS classes, Mrs. Christina and Mrs. Teri create a well rounded and stimulating program that results in true learning and not just regurgitation of facts. I highly recommend this program for any families looking for alternatives to the typical brick and mortar school setting.

Words can not express how happy we are at the Pioneer school. My daughter struggled daily, both academically and emotionally, for years at her public school. She hated school. Learning was a chore, something that had to be done, but not enjoyed. This year, as a student at the Pioneer School, she is thriving! She enjoys the many interesting classes such as boat building, archery and American Sign Language. She has become much more independent, and so much more socially and environmently conscious. She has made wonderful friends this year and her teachers and tutors have become like family. We are thankful for the Pioneer School and everything they have done for our daughter!

I am posting this on behalf of my daughter in response to Ms McGarah's review...
Hello, Ms. McGarah, I am Rose, a student from the Pioneer school. I would like to let you know that the students and parents of the Pioneer school very much enjoy aspects of the of the school in many ways. We are a non-profit school with a total of 19 students (with more considering to join). During morning hours, we take core classes on Florida virtual school with tutors on site to help whenever someone feels confused. In addition, online teachers are available all through the school week. We have a mid-morning break for 15 minutes, during which a tutor comes outside to supervise us kids. At recess and lunch, supervision is still provided while our administrator and principal work hard to plan lessons, field trips and fund-raisers, write complimentary reminders, and manage the school in general. Whenever they finish, they also come outside and assist. I personally love our lunch and recess- some other middle schools don't offer a time for outdoor play. We have a volleyball net that is set up whenever we want to use it, a functional basketball hoop, sidewalk chalk in multiple colors, a bin full of balls, frisbees and other toys, and a large yard. Students play sharks and minnows, MOSS (a game where you have to catch the ball and not get tagged), capture the flag, draw, pick mulberries, identify mushrooms, chat and do other things. In the afternoons, we learn unique skills like making fire, cheese and bread from scratch, creating survival shelters, coding, languages, drama, archery, character development and maritime skills. We even build our own usable boat from scratch! We help our community too. Morning cleanups of the surrounding neighborhoods and feeding the homeless can really make a difference! Overall, I believe the Pioneer school is a educating, fun, safe, high-school-preparing and bully- free place to go. I am sure my parents agree that this school is not a waste of our money!

Sharing on behalf of my 7th grader who attends The Pioneer School:

I rate this school as five stars
I go to this school daily as a 7th grade student. I have been to multiple schools all over the country and this is the best school I have gone to yet. The school is run with support, love, kindness, and the intention of making us the best we can be. We do an online school called FLVS in the morning and have many teachers there to help and support us when we are in need of it. In the afternoon, we learn amazing skills like bread baking, archery, ASL, coding, creative solutions, and many more taught by our teachers. We also do regular clean-ups to help or neighborhood in the mornings to help serve our community. When we go outside, we have lots of things to do, like play tag, pick fruits and vegetables from our garden, chat, draw, and run. The teachers try to push us outside our comfort zones to help us grow and learn. I have learned so much since I first joined and I would absolutely recommend this school to other children.

They not only teach Florida curriculum but so much more. Organizational skills, life skills, and how to be a respectful human being. Top notch!

This is the perfect school for any middle schooler to attend. The students are getting the social education they need along with the comfort that in this space it is safe to be yourself. I would recommend this school to anyone.
