Rockler Woodworking and Hardware - Fairfax

If you're into woodworking and live near Fairfax, this is the perfect store for you. The place is huge with everything you could ever need for woodworking. I sometimes come here just to browse what kind of tools I may be missing. Rockler has everything from tiny dowels to thousands-of-dollar heavy equipment. What I usually come here for is to get hardwood and baltic ply.

The hardwood selection here is great and it's reasonably priced. Most of them are S4S or S3S so in the worst case, I can use my table saw to rip the unfinished side. You only pay for what you need so you can have them cut a longer piece and not pay for the reminder! That's amazing. Note that they only cut longer wood to fit in your car. Rockler currently does not offer planing or joining services. The guy over there said they are looking into supporting such services soon but as of today, that's not an option.

Rockler also has wood-turning and other general woodworking classes. There's a small classroom inside the store itself. If you need anything woodworking, Rockler is it!

I’ve been here several times since opening and what makes this place different is the staff. Everyone that works here is friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help you find exactly what you’re looking for!

They have everything you need for your projects and will usually give you different options based on quality or price.
It may be a small thing but customer service is still front and center in Rockler and I appreciate that.

From beginners to wood whisperers, this place has something for everyone! It's a rare treat to see a specialty store with this much selection. I've been woodworking for 5-6 years now with a decent collection of tools. They have everything I need to keep my tools working well; blades, router bits, and all sorts of accessories. The wood selection is hard to beat as well. The staff is exceptional, and they all seem to have real knowledge (unlike the big box builder stores). I make the trip from DC and always leave happy!

I have zero furniture refinishing experience but wanted to refinish an old chair. I went to Rockler and met with Jeff, who turned out to be an amazing guide for my project! He advised me how to clamp and glue a broken stretcher, and patiently helped me understand every step of the refinishing process. I took the chair into the store a few times when I felt like I was stuck, and Jeff always knew what to do. Thank you, Jeff and Rockler! What a great resource to have in our neighborhood.

I went here to find some speciality hardware and was astounded by all the beautiful wood the store had. I also really appreciated the help the store staff gave me in trying to solve my hardware dilemma. I had to drive quite a distance to get to the store, but would do it again! Also it was cool to see a turning class that where a majority of the students were women!

Update: Bowl blanks abound now. A large supply and some varieties I have never seen before including some burls in 7-8 inch diameter. Rating revised.

Bright store, friendly/helpful staff. Lots of supplies, except for turning (what I want most). Bowl blanks and turning stock has been slim pickings for about two months now.

This is an excellent store. The staff really is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and far from pushy. They have a huge woods section with a very large variety of north American and tropical woods at very fair prices and they have in stock most of the best lines of wood working tools, machines and supplies. They seem to have lots of sales, too. It's nice to have them near by.

Where do you go when you need a woodworking part? Rockler. I needed a part to start and finish the project. The staff's old-fashioned courtesy, professionalism and knowledge, they showed me what I needed and it was in stock. I was in and out of the store. A "tip-of-the-hat", thank you, from a seasoned woodworker.

Been on a bit of a binge to build a "no nails, no screws, no glue" table.
They stock ryoba, and after trying one at home just 1/2 hours after purchase, "Wow, that cut needs no sanding". Good price, great performance.
Lots of interesting "exotic" woods, as well as other domestics in many sizes in stock - I will be back to build the '"real table" - first one is a prototype.
All the staff have been extremely helpful, and not pushy at all.
After browsing, and not seeing the tool I wanted, I asked "I'm looking for X", the response of "That should be in Aisle Y, on the right side, on the sliding racks" told me that the guy knows his store and knows his tools. Much better than any Big Box-ish store.
Also picked up a Dewalt DW735 planer and stand at a good price, with advice from employees who own the same piece of equipment.
This is the place in NoVa for woodworking.

This is my candy store. I love everything about it and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Although their checkout process is sometimes painfully slow. Sometimes I just go to walk around and not buy anything.

I've spent a lifetime going from one woodworking store to another. This is by far the cleanest, best organized, and well stocked store I have ever seen. Great staff too.

Great selection and prices, helpful people who work there as well. If something is marked differently than on their site, they will match the website sale price.
