Brown Street 151

Having acquired a home in Rhinelander this summer, we tried all the local supper clubs but weren't able to try Brown St 151 as they were unfortunately closed. The supper clubs we tried, even the ones with premium lakefront locations, all had mediocre food consisting of nearly interchangeable menus of fried items and service was generally of the "you are lucky we let you in here and I'll reluctantly serve yet another table" kind of treatment. We were vastly disappointed with the food quality and "service" afforded us at most local supper clubs.

Brown St 151 is a lot more like what we are used to. The menu offerings are another level. The food service was great. Drinks were great, a little bit slow but only one bartender was available, who was fun but not super efficient. But, it's not a hustle vibe either. That is not a cut down - if you've ever seen how the bartenders work to crank out the complex drinks in a big city packed club, you know what I mean.

Being Friday night I had the Red Snapper, blackened. It was excellent and nicely spicy, the pineapple salsa was an excellent flavor counterpoint. The vegetables, carrots and zucchini with garlic were great. The salad was fresh with a nice mix of greens. The presentation was notably good. The drinks were excellent, and the wine list is extensive, much more so than anywhere else we found in the Northwoods. Having visited the Sonoma CA region for various wine tasting events, I selected a Sonoma County Chardonnay to pair with the Snapper and was treated with a generous pour.

I went back the next Friday and tried the grilled Salmon. It was beautiful and served with grilled Asparagus and Hollandaise sauce that was well executed and wonderfully presented. Flavor was great. The vegetables were again excellent and the salad fresh. Service was great once again, THANK YOU ROMI! :-) Drinks were great too.

For dessert, both times I visited I had a Reese's peanut butter cup/chocolate offering that was insanely good. Again the presentation was great as well.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice. It's old worldish, with modern touches, clean, well lit, organized, and cozy all at the same time. The rest rooms are clean and luxurious. Nice background music completes your visit.

If you want to visit a restaurant that is serving legitimate high end food and drinks, compares well to higher end establishments around the country, at locally competitive prices, has a wonderful atmosphere, and great service then Brown Street 151 is for you. The owners' vision for this place is awesome, and, they have to have a great staff that buys in to execute that vision because it takes a team. Everyone from the greeter to the chefs to the servers are creating a great product and should be proud of what they are doing. They have created a GEM in the Northwoods. Please visit often and tip generously when they get it right.....we want to come back! :-)

We still eat here a every other month or so. While it is a very nice place to eat, and the food is good, we don't care to always pay the prices. The staff is always pleasant and attentive, but can get pretty busy! This winter I had their cheesy popcorn soup. That was delicious! I had another steak dish that has some kind of sauce. (see pic) I didn't care for that as much, so I steak to their normal steak. Previous Review I like the steak from here. It's a nice place to o eat, but because they are so busy, it's hard to get refills on your drinks. Such is life in restaurants these days. But food was great and hot.

I absolutely love the feel of this place and how the vibe is set from the lighting and music. The service is amazing, the waitress came back every time she had a free moment to check if we needed anything else. Their food is so good and so filling, so although the price is high, the food lasts 1-2 meals.

Since reopening they have done wonders, food was incredibly good (recommend the Tetrazzini) and the wait was moderate. Our server Ryann was very nice and very fast, she went above and beyond to make my girlfriend and I's dining experience enjoyable 10/10 employee. The atmosphere was loud but not unbearable, the tables and dishware were clean. The food was delicious and filling. Overall it's a fine restaurant and they've really stepped up the last time I entered.

The food was tasty and the atmosphere was wonderful! The service was top notch!! Did not have to wait for anything when we asked, it was taken care of right away!! Karen stopped several times to check on us. We will be back! :)

There is simply not a better place to eat in Rhinelander than this establishment. To the bright faces when you walk in, to the great drinks at the bar, the amazing atmosphere in the dining room, and the great service they provide, finished off with an amazing dinner. Every time we come here it seems to just get better and better. The fish fry is amazing and the steaks are to die for (though the whole menu is to die for). Desserts are also out of this world. If you want an amazing, joyful and tasty dining experience, look no further than 151.

Phenomenal food and exceptional service in a stylish and comfortable atmosphere. Prices are a bit higher but you definitely get what you pay for. I had the Mahi, which included a fresh pineapple salsa, as well as a baked potato and fried spinach (who knew how wonderful fried spinach could be?!). The first course salad was on point with fresh greens and home-made bleu cheese dressing. My companion had a ribeye steak, cooked perfectly, with a potato, and the chicken soup for a starter. The soup was home-made and delicious. Fresh baked breadsticks were also included.

We ordered the chocolate mint cheesecake to share for dessert, which consisted of one chocolate and one traditional cheesecake layer (the cheesecake itself did not have mint flavoring), with a peppermint foam accompaniment. The foam was delightfully light and provided just the right amount of mint to enhance but not overwhelm the dessert. We also ordered a slice of carrot cake to take home - this included a drizzle of caramel sauce, and was absolutely delicious with coffee the next morning.

We visited on a Friday evening and did not have a reservation. The place was not overly busy when we walked in. We were seated right away in the bar area, which was cozy and relatively quiet with light jazz playing. It took nearly 10 minutes for our server to arrive at our table and take our drinks order, but after that she was attentive and everything arrived at a comfortable pace. They have a nice selection of wines and cocktails, as well as a decent selection of craft beer on tap.

We were extremely pleased with the quality of the food, the thorough knowledge and attention of our server, and the overall clean and stylish atmosphere. We are so tired of the "usual" Northwoods fare (predominantly bars with mediocre pizza, fried frozen "bar food", pre-fab burgers that are always overcooked) and the loud, drunk and rude people a few feet away while you're trying to eat and have a conversation. Brown Street 151 is a breath of fresh air and we will definitely be returning.

Great staff. Nice small selection of domestic and craft beer. Fish portion and pasta was very small. (Pasta is cheap, be generous) Ordered a second meal - steak was excellent. I'll go back. :)

Wonderfully attentive staff, very comfortable and aesthetically pleasing environment, really good drinks, and absolutely excellent food. Our group had the forest mushroom ravioli, the lemon caper chicken, and the twisted tequila pasta. The portions were plentiful. We all left with to go containers full of enough for a second meal for each of us. What a pleasurable dining experience. Will definitely spread the word. Don’t want to lose this Rhinelander gem.

We are travellers and have been here a few times. Everything has been terrific. Fantastic appetizers, great pizza, great entrees, great service, great atmosphere, great portions, and fantastic quality. This place is a gem.

Wow- best restaurant I’ve eaten at in a long time. And I travel N.A. on expense account. Loved it!

Had one of the best meals in years. Started out with crab stuffed mushrooms, then rib eyes that melted in your mouth. So good, smelled amazing and tasted even better. The ambiance is great, old Nat King Cole songs, great lighting. This was our first time here and although my waistline can’t afford it, it won’t be the last. Service was great too. Just had a great dining time.

My family was in from out of town and the staff at 151 made sure we had a table for 8 on a Saturday night with very little notice. The food was delicious from appetizers to dessert and the portions were so large no one could finish their meal and needed to go boxes. Aaron behind the bar made delicious drinks including a special Valentine martini which was out of this world. We will be going back many times as this was the best meal we've had in a long time!! Great service and ambiance made the entire meal 5 stars!!

I had the ribeye steak and potato. The steak was a perfect medium rare. Baked French onion soup was best I ever had. Great atmosphere and staff too. Nice seeing Kaylee again.

Atmosphere is unmatched for downtown rhinelander.

Food was outstanding! Best prime rib I have had! (And I am a girl with high expectations) Also, service was a 10 and we had a big group. Very clean inside with nice modern decor! Our new favorite restaurant for when we come up North!

Everything was perfect, the lightly breaded asparagus was to die for.

Excellent food, service was great, the employees work amazing as a team. Enjoyed everything, super pleasant atmosphere as well!

Calamari appetizer was outstanding and included freshly hand made garlic aolei. All 4 of our dinners were very good. We are so glad to have an upscale restaurant in the area that makes such great food at amazing prices. Friendly wait staff, beautiful decor and outstanding food means we will be back.
