I love this place! REI is one of the few places that always seems to have what I want in stock and the quality is fantastic. The real reason why I pay a premium price for the equipment here is the staff. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and I've never felt like they've tried to upsell me on anything.

Great location, great staff and great variety. I'm a fan.

We had excellent help in finding the right pair of shoes. Michael spent time making sure we found what we needed. Everyone in the store was so friendly.

Ordered an e-bike and picked up some accessories last week. Michael in the bike shop was friendly, attentive, and patient, and went over everything I needed to know to use the new bike. He made adjustments immediately to things I needed (e.g., the angle of the handlebar display) and even talked about the relevant differences in necessary accessories (e.g., helmets). Good people there, highly recommended.

I just have to say that John is one of the coolest people I’ve met in any store. I usually have a tough time finding shoes that specifically fit my feet, but John was beyond helpful in guiding me (and my girlfriend as well) to just the right shoe. I 100% recommend this store solely because of his stellar help.

Went to the store today to return a set of headphones and experienced a disgruntled customer that mentioned writing a bad review and thats what brought me here. When I checked I realized that I have not reviewed the REI despite shopping there a few times.

Today I returned a set of bone conducting headphones (not a bad product, just didn't have everything I was looking for). They were having some computer issues, so my return took longer, but they were professional and apologized for the delay. I ended up leaving with an insulated water bottle.

I went last week and found the North Face Tri-climate jacket, but they only had the XL, so I ordered the XXL online. The service today was indicative of the great service that I experience every time that I go there.

**Like I mentioned above, while I was in the store a customer shouted, while leaving, "I'll be writing a review". He was picking up a North Face hat for someone else. I read his review and it was misleading. He was picking up an order for some one else and they didn't have his name listed as the person to pick it up. He did not call ahead, the original purchaser allegedly did, but they did not know who those spoke with. He didn't share a last name or same address with the original purchaser, all things the sales person mentioned they could use to allow him to pick it up. They also mentioned that if the purchaser forwarded the email they could release the hat as well. there was no treatment like a criminal, just multiple salespeople trying to help a customer and ensure they gave the hat to the right person. Furthermore, he has 6 one star reviews that all say the same thing.

We came in today just to browse some hiking boots. One thing I love about this store is how knowledgeable the staff is. Diane helped us find the perfect hiking ankle boots for a novice hiker as myself. I feel confident with my purchase. Thanks Diane!

First timer. Exceptional experience. Greeted as soon as I walked in by Darius who gave direction. (came in for some work shoes) The ones I had in mind didn't work out. Diane a friendly face told me of the recycled area with discounted shoes. Found my babies there. Ended up exploring for another hour. Lily, adventurous and kind conversation shared a bit of her vast knowledge on backpacking. Maeve and Brandt checked me out once I had eyed everything in the store. Super sweet. Id imagine even on the busiest of days someone on their team will be there to assist. Honestly thete were at least 6 others that greeted with warmness. 7 out of 5. 😊

Thank you for the bike shop as they went above and beyond to assemble a German engineered 7k rare product. Will def see them again if we get more exceptional equipment, it deserves their kind and professional support.

Lily was amazing in helping me find my sleeping bag and also helping me get properly fitted for my backpack. Even though it was very close to closing time she was very informative and thorough without making me feel rushed.

I went straight to the shoe department and Michelle offered me help. I was looking for a good pair of 'On' shoes for work. She was so kind and went above and beyond with me and her shoe knowledge as well as recommendations. Thank you so much for your greatness Michelle. You deserve a bonus/raise!!

Always like to stop at REI when I'm in the area. Needed some clothes this trip because it got extended. Had just what I needed. Friendly staff and clean place.

I placed a web order for store pick up for a SUP. The estimated delivery date at the time of order met my expectation. However, the date changed and the item was not going to arrive before a trip to the OBX. I called the store and spoke with Kevin about my dilemma. He said he would check the next shipment. In a matter of hours of the next truck arrival, Kevin called me and said my item was ready for pick up, nearly 3 days early. I appreciate Kevin going above and beyond when he really didn’t have to.

I was searching for a snow jacket and snow pants for my grandson. Diane went out of her way to go in the back and to go over to another side of the store trying to find his size. Excellent customer service!

We had GREAT customer service, but be prepared for limited inventory. Get the membership! So. Many. Perks (at least in VA). Parking is easy/plenty and close to great restaurants. Who doesn't need a beer after spending $300 on gear?

Genesis was incredibly nice with us! My parents who speak broken English were very happy with how patient and understanding Genesis was. Will return again!

Extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. I needed a replacement water bladder/reservoir and REI was the only local place carrying it. I was in a hurry and running late but was immediately helped and able to get what I needed and sign up for a membership faster (and at a better price) than anticipated. I'm happy this isn't located closer to my house or else I'd be worried I'd spend all my money!

Just left from having a great experience at this location! A manager came and helped us with a question we had about REI’s services. John was extremely knowledgeable about the clothing we would need for an upcoming trip. And the other workers we came into contact with were fantastic as well!

I have been here a few times before,, but my most recent time I went to REI looking for good winter/snow boots. The people here were very friendly and super helpful. They seemed very knowledgeable about the products and it seemed like they used many of the products themselves so they had first hand knowledge and experience instead of just knowing what the vendors tell them. I found some boots and am eyeing some other things for later. I joined thier loyalty program which is a great deal. It cost $20 for life and for every in store purchase, you get 1 free access to VA state parks. Also near the beginning of each year, you get back a percentage of each purchase you made during the previous year. These two perks alone should cover the $20 dollar sign up fee by the end of your first year.

The best selection of all sorts of camping and outdoor gear in the area. It is worth becoming a member of the co-op to get the dividends. I have been a member since the 60's when they were the only place to get backpacking equipment. Now that I no longer need to go to the office every day, I buy almost all my clothing there. Whatever they sell is always the best quality available.
