We certainly did. After a long, cross-state drive it was a welcome stop for supper. My husband was happy that there were gluten free options. He had the pot roast and I had the roast turkey. There was plenty of food. From fresh bread to “family style fixings” (coleslaw + cottage cheese). We packed up our leftovers for lunch the next day. Food got 4-stars for saltiness (pot roast) and my turkey was warm, not hot. The gravy was also lumpy and thick like pudding. Otherwise the flavors were good.
We loved the decor. Sound level was good - we could carry on a conversation even though the restaurant was full. In and out in an hour.

We stopped in here for brunch and got the brunch buffet. Lots of options! Breakfast items, make to order omelets, salad bar with big salmon fillets, comfort foods. Something for everyone. It was hard to not over eat! The coffee is amazing! We asked if we could purchase some and they sold us a pound. Our waitress was fantastic. The restaurant seemed busy but Carolyn was attentive to small details regardless. Will definitely be returning here. Thank you for providing great food and outstanding service. Now to go shop the gift shop!

Passed through Iowa on my way home to Michigan. My son was looking for a place for us to stop and eat so we thought we’d give it a try. Wow!!! The food was amazing, best I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time!! Fun little gift shop with unique items. I highly recommend this restaurant!!

This was my second time to the Machine Shed and my first time at this location. As my previous experience (Davenport) the service was great and the food was exceptional. I have learned that, just like 90 % of the restaurants I visited in Iowa, they do not serve Coke products.

This time I ordered the four piece fried chicken dinner. The pieces were not huge, but they were full of flavor.

I didn't order any dessert but my co-worker ordered a coconut cream pie to go and she later said it was so good that two days later I came back just for that... holy moly! So totally worth trip. I dare say this pie was the highlight of my trip to Iowa.

Great place for home style cooking. Great food. The waitress I had was absolutely amazing and was very helpful (I had never been before). Their homemade apple sauce is to die for!!!

Machine Shed is a great place with even better food! If you're looking for a good spot for a cozy family meal, I recommend them 100%.

I ordered the Plowman's Meatloaf, and it was amazing! All the flavors came together to make an amazing entree that meshed very well with the vegetable sides. The complimentary bread given was great as well.

The service was great, and other than taking a while for our check, the waitress was quick to get things to us.

The atmosphere was great as well, the whole place was well decorated and there was even a little shop at the entrance with fun gimmicky items.

Overall, Machine Shed was an amazing restaurant and if you're in the area and looking for a nice long meal, this is the place to go!

Discovered this little gem restaurant on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 pm. It appeared they had just finished serving a Sunday buffet brunch. We ordered from the menu and weren't disappointed. Food is fresh and served in generous portions. My husband ordered the signature burger and I ordered a pot roast sandwich. There is a quaint little general store when you walk in the door which reminds me a lot of Cracker Barrel. Overall a great restaurant.

Amazing good, great service, and homey vibe. Best place to eat comfort food. Would eat here again in a heartbeat.

Ordered loaded potato skins, brisket sandwich, and baked potato soup. Very pleasant experience, the place was quiet and service efficient and friendly.

Oh my, be careful what you order because the sizes here are HUGE! My friend and I ordered a half order of onion rings and the server showed up with a huge player of onion strings. Thankful we didn't go with the full order. Ordered there burger, which comes with a healthy amount of beef brisket on top of the burger, with cheese and BBQ sauce. This thing is a Monster. I highly recommend this restaurant and the crowds confirm it. ENJOY!

Let's start with what you really want to know first: The food was fabulous!! And it came out very quickly after we ordered! The portions are large, but with $20+ a person, I would hope so. The family style sides are fun. The apple dumpling was good, not the best, though. By the time it got to us, the dough was so soggy we couldn't tell there was any. The waitress seemed annoyed in general but wasn't rude or anything. Maybe it was just a bad night for her.

Visited the Machine Shed restaurant for the first time during my rare Iowa trips, being a Las Vegas native born and raised, where buffets are a big deal. I was pleasantly surprised by their breakfast buffet. It stood out with its fresh, delicious offerings - a true testament to their quality, given my buffet expertise. Despite the restaurant's bustling atmosphere, the food stations remained amply stocked, and the service didn't miss a beat. Truly top-notch on all fronts. The Machine Shed has now earned a must-visit spot on my itinerary whenever I'm in Iowa.

A warm inviting atmosphere. Like being in Grandma and Grandpa's house, with a Furniture is heavy and feels as though it is seen a great deal. Service is kind and friendly. The food is outstanding and way more than one person should eat. The menu is enormous with great variety offering something for everybody

Super delicious food. Couldn't get enough of the fresh backed bread. Mouth watering. Jamie was our server, and she was super nice and helpful with the menu. Chicken fried steak was absolutely fantastic

Cherry pie was ☆☆☆☆☆ salad bar was so fresh , the hot beef was delish... planning my next trip back.

So much food, great tasting, fast service, and with beer the 2 of us were stuffed for only $40. It's close to the highway as well.

Visiting in town and was told to check this place out. I owe that guy s give thank you. Service was fantastic and the good was even better! Can't recommend enough.

Went to Machine Shed in Davenport and Urbandale (Iowa). Love them both. Both just off Highway (80 & 80/35). Like the homey atmosphere. Great selections, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Prices reasonable. Service for us was great, pleasant and attentive. Will frequent anytime we're in area.

Saw this restaurant on a Fox and Friends segment a few weeks back so decided to try it for breakfast during our travels...Not disappointed! Farmer's Daughter plate was just right...and the biscuit/gravy side choice was some of the best I've had. Had to buy one of their famous giant cinnamon rolls for tomorrow's breakfast! Friendly greeting at the door, and Jacque served us with a smile and positive attitude. Apparently this restaurant and their staff exhibit "Iowa Kind" in abundance! Thanks for a great start to our day!

I went when I thought the place wouldn’t be so crowded, I don’t like to visit restaurants when they are extremely busy. It’s also been a while since I’ve been here.
I ordered a liver and onions dinner and was very impressed !
The service was very attentive and nice, the atmosphere is very cozy, and the food was delicious !
