I recently retired and was in need of health insurance for my wife and I. After 40 years of having the insurance already set up to use, we were lost on how to proceed next. Transitioning from working full time to retiring right as I was turning 65 and enrolling in Medicare, brought added anxiety to this period of life! I was concerned about discontinuing my company insurance (high costs) without having adequate insurance coverage in place. How excited I was to receive a letter from the Steinlage Insurance Agency!

As an Update to my previous review, with the President Margo Steinlage back, the attention to our enrollment was done flawlessly, economically and "hand-holding" given the changes made. I have no outstanding issues and no hesitation to update my review to outstanding.

2 years ago as we were approaching Medicare, I started listening to Podcasts and other agencies discuss Medicare and a selection process. The first notification of a webinar was from Steinlage, a family run firm and since thy were the first to reach out, we gave then our names and of course as I found put later, compensation from Medicare.

The first webinar was run by its President Margo Steinlage and I thought it pretty good so as mentioned signed up. She had a conference call to discuss the process and we filled out our selection (we had already selected our Plan) for Medicare and she found Pard D entities that matched what I had already seen from Medicare's site. She was helpful giving us recommendations for Dental Plans..one she signed up for the other I had to fill out.

Then I believe she went on leave and that's when I found out quickly and many of the items discussed even on the latest webinar today that they were there to help with lots of issues...never materialized or when I received an e-mail I already had found the answer from mostly Boomers Benefits which has an incredible website that answers most questions and any IRMAA appeal process I found no help and managed with success on my own from again Bloomers and other public sources. Information of prescriptions, appeals never received a response and again we were on our own. I checked on changing our representation but found out its next time possible unless you change our plan (you would need to enroll in a new policy) .and we selected United AARP for a reason. So I'm pretty stuck with them and can only hope that they really get their act together and do provide services based on the money they receive for us as clients.

I will get my first clue when I receive my call for Part D since we are no changing United AARP.Although just today I was told to contact my Broker to get info on foreign travel..I asked who my broker was and to receive the information. Nothing.

If you are new to Medicare, choose wisely from an entity that really has the resources to help and you can see evidence as you can with Boomer Benefits and others. I may give it one more year and bite the bullet and switch to another G plan although that varies certain risks in coverage and price.
