This place was amazing! We only came for a day and stayed at the campground but we'll definitely need to come back. The falls are absolutely gorgeous and there's a 400+ step staircase to get to the top. The view from the top is totally worth it though! Once you get there, you'll have access to all the trail entrances. The lodge hotel is beautiful and the food is really good. I was honestly surprised they had good prices too! The campsite was maintained so well and they have everything from glamping tents to full hookup sites to cabins. They also spend time planning activities for the people staying in the area. The night we stayed they had a campfire with the local tribes where you learn about their culture. You can really tell they put so much love in running this place. It was an absolutely amazing time, we'll definitely be back to enjoy all the activities and amenities they offer.

Amicalola Falls is gorgeous! You can access the Falls through 100s of stairs OR park where the walkway is which is about 1/3 of the way up - not at the bottom where the store is - but first parking on your right after you turn in front of the store.

Driving to and from the RV camp in an RV is a little nerve-wracking because of 25% grades... geeky like we were moving at a 45-degree angle. Check your brakes before you go!

We recently stayed at the Amicalola Falls Campground. After checking in at the lodge we ventured up the mountain to the campgrounds (in low gear). It was quite a climb but once we reached the top it was great. The campgrounds are somewhat open but private enough. The sites were spacious, clean, level (gravel). We had good clean 30 Amp electric power, water, a picnic table, grill, lantern post and fire ring all in a raised fenced in area. We heard there was quite a bit of bear activity in the area but did not see any during our stay. The campground also had newer restroom facility with private showers, a shelter house and a small playground. There were plenty of bear proof trash containers as well. We had a great stay and highly recommend.

Great campground. The grounds were well kept. The bathhouse was very clean and always stocked. Bonus each bathroom/shower is heated. Campsites are fairly close to each other but not so close you feel you're on top of your neighbor. Plenty to do at the state park.

We love Georgia State Campgrounds. They are always the cleanest and best maintained. This campground was very nice and our site was nicely treed and felt private. The overall area is beautiful and we enjoyed the hiking to the waterfalls.

It is hilly, but the sites are level. Very nice Campground, sites are large enough, trees are trimmed. Lots of construction in the park this spring, but the trails are open and beautiful scenery!

Super easy check in process! The tent campsite was perfect. It had a grill, fire pit, and a picnic table with both electric and water. Had enough bathrooms and showers, which had hot water. Perfect weekend getaway!

11/3/23. Unexpected cold front brought overnight temps in the 20s. Beautiful fall leaves, fallen everywhere. We were without camp host our first few days here - and it showed everywhere, especially in the bathrooms. New host arrived last night. Awesome! He got right to it on his first full day. This afternoon, as the sun goes down, we are enjoying a fire. This wonderful man, our new host, PAINSTAKINGLY SLOWLY blows the leaf debris from the site above us, with the resultant dust clouds being gently directed away from us so we can enjoy ourselves outside. Talk about being aware, and customer service!! Much gratitude, kind sir! A gentle giant in denim overalls 😇
PS: the hiking is awesome and the trails are gorgeous 🥾🍂

Amicalola is a beautiful, relaxing Appalachian retreat. We had the pleasure of staying at the campground in cabins 6 and 11 for a few nights.

Summertime foliage around the cabins block direct views of the valley but keep it very private. All cabins seem to have had recent & decent builder quality remodeling... although they have a very distracting fireplace/chimney facade that doesnt go all the way to the ceiling.

The road to the lodge is directly below the cabins (engines roaring or cars thumping music occasionally ruins the evening atmosphere). All cabins have toilets that flush like they are in an airplane WHOOOSH

Sprint: 0 to 1 bars (mostly 0)
At&t: 0 to 3 bars (mostly 3)

Cabin 6 is the closest to the falls (you can hear it) and dogs are allowed! (1 of 2 cabins that allow them). It's a smaller cabin, 3 beds/2 br/2 bath. There is NO WIFI in this cabin! ...but it does have carpet in bedrooms if you care. It also has lights from one of the cabins above it shining brightly down on it which proved very bothersome when trying to use the table and grill out front. Also beware there was an adult copperhead spotted in the tall grass/water runoff area between the guard railĀ  on the road and the grill.

Cabin 11 has wifi! But... no pets allowed in it!

We loved our stay, and our days were full of activities. We went to brunch at the lodge (went for 2nd and 3rds on blackened snapper), we took many hikes throughout the park, found time for frisbee in the open areas, had late nights and good grilling.

The falls trails are well maintained. I camped one night with a hammock. I felt safe. Plenty to do. The lodge looks amazing. Staff courteous. Shower house clean.

Great campground, sits are level and are fenced in. One of the better state campgrounds we have been through. Start of the Appalachian Trail.

We had a great experience at this campground. Sites are well spaced apart giving you good privacy. They are packed gravel and not muddy even when it rains. It's apparent that the facilities have been recently renovated and they are kept very clean by the camp host and park staff.
There is a trail right from the campground that joins the trails leading up the mountain towards the Hike Inn and the AT Approach Trail or down the mountain towards the Falls and the Visitor's Center which also serves as the registration center to hike the Appalachian Trail. At the top of the falls you can also take the East Ridge Trail which also leads to the Visitor's Center.
The campground is near the top of the mountain, so it's surrounded by woods. Very beautiful. Speaking of being high up the mountain, you have to make sure you have enough power to safely haul your rig up the mile-long 25% grade that leads to the campground. It can be very dangerous if you don't have it. Do yourself a favor and don't overlook that, and don't just assume you can do it.
Lastly, The Falls are beautiful. There are stairs that go along the falls from top to bottom with porches where you can take some great pictures and video.
If you're not able to do the stairs, you can drive from the campground to the top of the falls where you can park and view the top of the falls. You can then drive from the top of the falls to the mid point of the falls where you can again park and view the mid point of the falls. Finally you can drive to the bottom of the falls and park to take in the beauty of that area, which really is amazing.
