Had an amazing weekend staying in the primitive cabin! Not too far from hiking and small towns with cute breweries. Mike (the owner) was so so so wonderful! He checked in on us to make sure we were doing alright and if we needed anything during our stay. Throughly a fantastic weekend. Thank you!

This is my third time staying with the amazing people at Under the Hemlock.
Due to a family emergency I needed an extended stay in a central location and Mike the owner came through! I called and he offered me a beautiful spot with full hookup! Safe & quiet. I can't say enough about this place...Southern hospitality at its finest! Amazing food, killer Brunswick stew, Peach cobbler and the best hot nuts you will ever have...this dude's got a secret!! And he carves bears with a chainsaw...Eat your nuts and watch the show!
I could go on but I'm afraid next time I come back it'll be all full! Thanks again Mike, save me a spot.

I don't normally leave reviews but I wanted to share the experience my wife and I had staying at Under the Hemlock.
We've been full time RV'ers for about 2 years now and love it! Our daughter lives outside Atlanta and she needed some help. That meant we needed to find a comfortable & convenient place to stay for aprox 4 months while our daughter finished her schooling. I called around to find a place with FHU and not too pricey that could accommodate our extended stay.
That's when I called Mike at Under the Hemlock. After I explained what we needed he invited us to see his place and from the moment we pulled in, I knew we found exactly what we were looking for!
We were offered FHU in a quiet spot with a monthly rate that was more than fair.
After spending almost 5 months here it's time for us to move on, but Under the Hemlock is more like a second home to us now. Mike the owner is the epitome of southern hospitality! He is always doing little jobs around the campground and constantly upgrading his little slice of heaven in the Georgia mountains. This place is all you could need, it's clean, quiet, safe and conveniently located to everything the area has to offer. We've stayed at hundreds of campgrounds and this one by far takes the cake! We can only say Thank you Mike for your passion & dedication to making this place a true home away from home! If you ever get the opportunity to spend a few days...or like us a few months at Under the Hemlock, I'm sure you'll agree that this place is special!
We'll be back next year and fingers crossed Mike will have a spot for us again!
Thanks Mike, we appreciate you!

My family and I visited under the hemlock and had a great experience. The owner Mike was awesome and helpful. He provided many amenities, had on demand hot water and plumbing. The cabins were beautiful and it was very secluded.

Mr. Mike is the definition of southern hospitality! When our cabin plans fell through last minute and we were 3 hours away from home and no clue what to do we called Mr. Mike and he was kind enough to offer us his 5th wheel. I was skeptical at first but now I am so glad we went! The camper was perfect and in the perfect location! My husbands favorite part was the root beer float at the little store. We will definitely be back as often as possible!

Tent camped for a week with my dog. Had electricity to charge my phone and drinking water at my camp site. Beautiful scenery. Plenty of shade. Michael was very kind and helpful. Bathroom and shower were adequate. Not a fancy resort, but if you are looking to get off the grid without sleeping on the trail, this place is perfect. Very safe and private. Michael checked on me and my dog each day to make sure we returned from our hiking adventures. Great location to many hiking trails. I plan to return in the fall.

As an experienced hiker, camper and all around woodsman, I was apprehensive of staying here after my AT approach loop.

To my surprise, after hiking 20 miles and meeting Mike, the owner, I was promptly ushered to my nice tent camping ground.

The property is simple, a short road up brings you into a little ridge nestled between two hills.

The amenities are nice enough for new campers.

Even though you are about 1/4 mile from the road, there’s not much noise here.

Great fire pit and grill areas. Nice picnic tables and even electric plugs for those who can’t seem to disconnect.

You should absolutely have a chat with the owner. Mike is the kind of man who you wish there were more people like him on this Earth.

He’s traveled the world and settled down in the foothills of the Appalachian and hosts tourists, locals and he builds everything you see on his land.

Whether you are hiking the trails or taking time off from the city, this is a perfect place to rest and unwind.

This is by far my favorite place to camp!!! We brought all 5 of our children and they have absolutely enjoyed every minute of it!!! The campground is well maintained and very neat and tidy. Mike is absolutely wonderful!!! Hot shower was very refreshing!!! There's just no way to put into words how happy we are with our stay and how perfect this place is. It's beautiful and it's nice and quiet and the store here is great and the boiled peanuts are great and OMG we had root beer floats!!! This has truly been a great experience and we look forward to our next trip up here!!!

If you want a quiet and peaceful experience, this is your place. Mike, the owner is truly a rare gem and a genuinely kind person. Our cabin was clean, had a running hot shower, a microwave and mini refrigerator. We enjoyed the fire pit and picnic tables outside. Mike graciously provided us with firewood and boiled peanuts. Additionally, Under the Hemlock is mere minutes from Amicolola falls. Oh and take a moment to check out his chainsaw wood art! It's BEARY good!

Just finished cooking up my last batch of Cajun boiled peanuts I had in the freezer. Yum yum! Almost time to drive 1-1.5 hours to go stock up on some more Southern caviar!

We have had the most wonderful Mother's Day weekend. It was so comfy and cozy here in the cabin. The kids and I spent quality time together in a peaceful gorgeous place. The cabin is clean and has everything you need to disconnect with the daily rat race and reconnect with nature. We will definitely be back.

Mike was very hospitable. He went above and beyond in personally seeing that we were comfortable and enjoyed our time while there. He even gave good recommendations for hikes. The campground was private and quite. The cabin was very clean and warm during a cold weekend.

I would highly recommend Under the Hemlock for your next camping trip. Mike was a pleasure to work with and extremely helpful. We arrived late around 8:30 pm. Mike met us at the gate and directed us to our cabin. The cabin was clean and fully equipped. Nice Hot shower, 2 beds, refrigerator, microwave and table for dining. He even helped me to back up my trailer into the perfect spot. We will definitely be back!

My boyfriend and I came here for a quick getaway and had a fantastic time. The owner was very polite, occasionally checking in to make sure we were cozy and even starting our fire. The cabins are very spacious, warm, and close to the most beautiful trails.

The downside is that there’s really no cell service or WiFi out there, which, of course, has nothing to do with the owner or the campground. I’m only mentioning this so you can plan accordingly. We brought cards, as well a laptop to play a few DVDs, and were just fine!

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!
This is a gem of a find... You'll love Mike the owner/operator. Best host ever!
What a unique experience!
Our cute cabin under the stars sitting by the fire was just what the doctor ordered. I wish EVERY getaway weekend was this enjoyable and peaceful. Mike also carves log art with his chainsaw and sells the best Cajun boiled peanuts!
10 star experience!
Thanks Mike!
See you again, soon!👍🏞🏕

Fantastic camping experience. We stayed for two nights including New Years Eve. It was set up so each cabin could have a quiet experience with their own campfire and areas or also socialize with the other cabins. The cabin we stayed in was very clean, well lit and had a comfortable bed. It also included a table, microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. The owner dropped off some firewood for the first night and checked back to see if we needed more for the second night of our stay. The bathhouse was very clean with a nice wood interior. We had a great time and plan on being repeat customers. Would highly recommend.

**** An ABSOLUTE DELIGHT *****
Mike (owner) was able to help me get a spot on the busiest weekend of the year for camping when Amicalola was all sold out. 1 mile down the road from the AT Mike answered any and all questions i had about the area and their home made ice cream was delicious!! It rained every night that weekend and my tent spot never even came close to flooding. Very nice bath house was convenient and on the day of your departure he even gives you a curtious tire pressure check and fill. Amazing experience!!!

Great campsite. Very quiet and peaceful. Forgot to buy firewood so I called the owner to see if they sold some and he had firewood and kindling waiting by the firepit when I got there. Great experience.

To be honest, it’s been about 5 years since I’ve been here but I talk about it often and compare all other campsites to this location. It was a wonderful experience and stay! I remember the owner being friendly and accommodating. The property was comfortable. Thank you for setting the campsite bar so high! Cheers!
