Norfolk Garden

My husband and I drive by this restaurant everyday, and finally decided to stop in, we weren't sure if it was open, but saw the sign that they were! We were quickly greeted by who we assume was the Owner, the older Korean woman and she was very attentive, and soo kind, despite what other reviews have said. The food came out quickly and was amazing! We enjoyed the kimbap, which was so fresh and crisp, as well as the tteokbokki, so chewy and soft, the sauce was perfect. I had the kimchi jigae and was blown away by the flavor! I was so full at the end. I had to take some to go. At the end we were given a little cup of tea! Ginger cinnamon tea that was so refreshing! We will be coming back again! Definitely my favorite restaurant!

The owner of Norfolk Garden is the sweetest woman. She makes all the sides personally and they are delicious! Additionally, the decor provides a relaxing atmosphere. The spicy chicken shrimp keeps me coming back time and time again! The Kalbi is fantastic as well. Worth giving a try.

Ten out of ten would recommend! Hospitality was great, food was amazing, seating was comfortable, and the vibe was nice and calming.

There was a wide variety of dishes from both Korean and Japanese culture. There is a generous amount of food for the price given. You are sure to be full at the end!

Food here is amazing! Wanted to order other dishes too but the stomach couldn’t handle it. A lot to choose. Will stop again next time I visit Norfolk.

This place is precious. You get your food and it is filled with love. You can really taste that Korean Grandma enjoys feeding people. She kept checking on us and even showed me how to eat the food (if Korean Grandma tells you to eat the sauce you eat it) she knows how to cook better than you know how to eat. Can’t wait to go back.

Not once have I ever been disappointed by the service or food while coming here. Hands down the best Korean restaurant in the area. Louis (waiter) is as efficient as it gets for being the only waiter in there. Always cheerful and welcoming. If you’re looking to have a memorable Korean dinning experience, Norfolk Garden is the place to be.

It's late in the evening and we chose to eat Asian for dinner. We've been meaning to try this place out. At this time of the hour this would be the only restaurant at our nearest convenience and it closes at 11pm.

From the looks of it on the side it seemed dark from street view. The sign isn't so noticeable at night accept for the sign that says Korean and Japanese food. The parking lot had 2 cars and was a bit empty. The building looked old and not up to date from the outside appearance.

As we went inside we are led to a little cute entrance bridge along with a big bar on the rise side and another bar directly a head of us. It was definitely a surprise because I was expecting everything to look like a cheap hole in the wall if I had not known. There was an array of booths and seating great for big parties and a lot of empty chairs to fill. There was a small group eating at a booth as we waited.

Upon arrival there was no one at the service area to help seat us. We waited patiently for practically almost 5-10 minutes. We didn't want to be rude but I had to pop my head in slightly at the kitchen to see if someone was there to seat us. The Hispanic server came out to seat us to the area where we could cook our food.

We ordered the Norfolk garden special for two. It comes with galbi (kalbi short ribs), pork, chicken & beef bulgogi with banchan side dishes and a hot pot soup of tofu. For a entree that's for two, they came with a lot of meat.

I was pleased with the authenticity and assortments of our banchan options. I'm not typically a kimchi fan but I could it was homemade and fresh. I like that it wasn't overly spicy and overly fermented in taste. I wasn't a fan of the glutinous rice cake but everything else was great side dishes that complimented well with my bbq.

I also liked that we cooked it ourselves which made out meals more interactive and fun to eat. The Korean lady who worked here was behind the scenes making sure we were satisfied by refilling our waters and giving us extra kimchi, broccoli etc. whenever we ran out. It was nice of her to changed out our burner as well. It was starting to get overly smokey with meat residue stuck on the metal grill so by doing that our meat cooked faster and better.

My husband was so pleased to have came here. You can never go wrong with bbq meats and rice.

Although our initial opinion of their service wasn't so great. Since I literally had to walk to the back to get some service; but overall our dinner was satisfying.
They made up for their service In the end, ensuring us a great dinner.

Towards the end we were given a little tea cup with cold cinnamon flavored sweet tea as a palate cleanser. It was a great way to finish our night. I was stuffed.

I'd recommend coming here for the grill entrees to get their Korean bbq. Next time I will order strictly the Kalbi short ribs and beef. That was my favorite portion of the meats I had tonight.

I'm still a skeptic of the Japanese food here. Many times its best to stick to one cuisine choice that can be done well so quality isn't compensated for. I would love to have A+ sashimi grade sushi and I'm not sure I would experiment trying it here. But who knows till my next time around. I'd like to see if they can pull of a good bibimbap for me.

Best Korean place in Norfolk. Makes it feel like I’m back in California. definitely a place to take big groups. The lady is extremely nice. You just gotta be patient because she is old but so kind. If you know California Asian food is super good so if you want really good Asian food I’ll come here.

Place is definitely worth the money

I got the kimbap and vegetable pancake and both are amazing! Their side dishes taste just like my mom's. I will be going back again soon to try other dishes!

Place is quaint. Lady is very sweet and food amazing. If you only tried phi ur missing out as korean food always comes to ton of side dishes with every order and soups are fantastic. If ur adventous try the beef bone soup which is my fav. Otherwise try the other various soup like spicy seafood tofu or beef ribs which is a good introductory soup.. Support business. Recommend highly!

They brought an appetizer sampler before the meal. I got a tasty chicken dish. Then they brought dessert tea after the meal.

Been coming to this place for decades and the quality of the food has never changed. The Korean grandma works tirelessly to ensure everyone gets best experience. Although the place is kind of old but the food outweighs everything else. It is pricier than most Korean restaurants but the quality, taste, and portion were all exceptional. Highly recommend if in the area.

The food was sooo good, definitely coming back ! Also, if you do try this place be patient. There’s just one old lady who takes orders and serves from what we saw, but overall it was pretty great

Came here with a friend on her recommendation & Wow, I'm Very Glad We Did! Food was DELICIOUS!! We both had shrimp & chicken combo. It came with miso soup & several sides.

Everyone needs to try this place! The food is fantastic! I spent a pretty penny just to order all that I wanted and stuffed myself silly on multiple entrees lol.

My wife and I drive past this place likely hundreds of times before one day on a whim we were looking for a place for dinner. We are extremely happy we made that choice! We have been there for both lunch and dinner times. The service is always great. The price for a family may seem a little on the high side but when you look at the quality of the food and the serving size I believe it is acceptable. We we defiantly be loyal repeat customers and do recommend this restaurant to friends.

After trying out several Korean restaurants around VB, this place is our favorite. You'll just have to come here when its not packed since they only have one server (he's extremely nice and polite). The food is really good and worth the wait ♥

The outside may look questionable, but the inside is pretty clean and big. If you love authentic Korean dishes this place won't disappoint you!

The food here reminded me of mom's cooking. Great entrée selection at a decent price.

I have been coming g here for 20 years I love this place great traditional food, no cheap imitations!!!! Love the family owners and the waiter is AMAZING!!!! The BEST!
