Cafe Louis

I went by this place not expecting much. The restaurant is Cuban style and interior design is awesome! Very welcoming atmosphere with very friendly staff. I didn’t know but I had come about 30 minutes before the happy hour ended so tried a bunch of different things on the menu. I had a sangria, fries, ceviche, and burger which were all very unique flavors but amazing and the presentation was beautiful! When the actual dinner menu came out, I tried their plantains which was also very good. My server was very kind and knowledgeable and kept checking up on me to make sure I was doing well. He has also been the first person in Maine to ask if I had any dietary restrictions which coming from healthcare, I appreciated very much. Highly recommend this place!! Each dish for me was about $7-15 which was very reasonable for the quality.

We had brunch there a few days ago. It was quiet there. We enjoyed the eclectic menu and flavors that were also diverse. We had the eggs and tried several of the cocktails. The flavors were so unique and a real attention to detail was evident in all they did. Definitely stop in while you are in Sopo.

This was our second time dining at Cafe Louis & the food, service & atmosphere continued to be impeccable. The food is unique, layered, & beyond craveable. We are slowly working our way through the menu. Every dish has been memorable! I wanted to take a photo when each dish arrived but ended up with this empty bowl which was the masa donuts. No words needed 😋 The staff have a beautiful synergy, they create a warm/easygoing/inviting dining experience. Thank you for filling a gap on the Midcoast!

Very nice breakfast, all the plantain dishes are spot on. Delicious hibiscus spritzer, fresh everything. Salt cod cakes needed the salt cod soaked (more-?) way too salty , otherwise perfection. Pricey but the food really is above average, salt cod not withstanding.

Absolutely loved Cafe Louis. Started with a round of jaw dropping cocktails and proceeded to order everything but the burger off the afternoon menu (which looked fantastic). Our server was great and I am a sucker for a restaurant with an open galley. This may be our new favorite spot in SoPo. The vibes in here are exquisite and the music had us bobbing our heads. A+

Lovely space with gorgeous decor and quaint outdoor seating. The waiter was incredibly friendly and well-informed on the menu. She gave us great recommendations and was efficient and attentive. Loved the paloma. Every dish had a fabulous balance of flavor. Standout dishes were the heirloom salad, queso de frier, and Ron don (definitely get it with the crab). If I could, I'd eat the Ron don here every day of my life.

We stopped here for lunch one day and were pleasantly surprised! The waitstaff was friendly and attentive and the brunch we had was so good! The dirty rice and beans in addition to the breakfast plates was heaven. This is now one of our favorite breakfast spots!

Evan and his staff do such a wonderful job. The food is so creative and fresh. Always a hit everytime we all go. The service is top notch and very welcoming. Couldn’t recommend enough

Found this place by chance and was not disappointed. Friendly staff with great recommendations and an atmosphere to match. Small interior with a handful of tables and bar seating. Food was excellent. Our table had the mussels, Cuban sandwich and grilled cheese. All exceeded expectations.

Had an unexpected evening free while my kids were at an activity and popped over. What a delight! All of the food was multi layered and incredible, the wine list is lovely, and the service was attentive, friendly, and unpretentious. The lights felt really bright, but I'm a candlelight person to an aggressive extent, so maybe don't take my word for it :) Run, don't walk- truly fabulous!

Great place and great outdoor dinning. Was the first place we landed at as soon as we arrived in Portland. Definitely a great location. Liked the Costa Rican cuisine and colorful drinks. Also very well priced and comfortable outdoor dining tables.

So glad I was able to start off the year with this delicious meal. We got the patacones, media noche (not pictured because - hangry), and this duck sandwich that I forget the name of because also, hangry. Food took a little while, but it was quite busy. Definitely worth the wait!

The Ron Don is my go-to. If you like
mussels, the chef makes
the most sensational coconut
curry broth. It’s served with homemade toasted sour dough (keeps me from drinking the broth straight from the bowl). Ceviche with plantains is a bright, fresh starter. Lest

go wrong with her cocktails. Service A++. Love this place ❤

Magical! Incredible! Delicious! Manifique! What more can I say? Perfect place to celebrate our anniversary and also would casually come here for a bite. Loved the attention to detail and every bite was amazing. Thank you!!

I've stumbled upon this lovely cafe for brunch by accident and it's a hidden gem! First, I'd like to especially note how awesome and friendly the staff is!
Second, let's talk about the food and drink. Bloody Mary knocked it out of the park. This is what a Bloody Mary ought to taste like. I loved how familiar brunch dishes had a twist. The eggs Benedict came on prosciutto! Who knew they would combine so well? The creamy hollandaise with salty meat, a delicious combo and a great juxtaposition of textures. The dolce de leche pancakes were a special treat. I'm from Eastern Europe and that's exactly how we make pancakes too ! We'll, except we don't add pistachios, but what a great idea! Salty, doughy and sweet, yum. If you're in Portland, this place is definitely worth a visit!

My husband and I were crying about this food the entire time. Everything was chefs kiss! Close to being our favorite place to eat in Maine.

Fabulous new addition to the Mill Creek area of SoPo ME. The relaxed vibe, creative cocktails and "Punched up " Costa Rica-inspired fare did not disappoint.

Such a great clean brunch. Had the walnut hash and it was awesome. Not greasy but still so savory and satisfying. The drinks were amazing (spicy margarita and a hot toddy) and the service was great. Open kitchen style with the efficiency of a well piled machine. It's a cozy place with minimal seating but definitely worth any wait you would have. Very creative dishes that show how much care goes into them.
