1922

The first time I walked into 1922, I knew that this was going to be one of my spots. The atmosphere is cozy but still alive, the coffee is phenomenal, and I have watched hours pass here without even noticing. Even just today, I walked in and had no clue what I wanted other than a “sweet treat” and Rachel was extremely helpful and kind, talking to me about my day and recommending a good drink for the weather. Its the small things that count.

My daughter got married at University Presbyterian Church on Franklin Street and was looking for a convenient (within walking distance) place to have a casual "Southern Tea" prior to the rehearsal. We reached out to 1922, who was willing to accommodate us, and started the planning. It turned out REALLY well! Better than we had envisioned it.
We worked with Irmak, who was wonderful! She shared our excitement and worked hard to make it what we wanted. We brought in simple flowers for the tables and our own plates, napkins, and decor for the serving table. The southern pick ups of deviled eggs, chicken and waffles, pimento cheese fritters, and bltas were plentiful and delicious!
The set up worked really well for sitting at the tables and/or for mingling. It was so much fun - a great way to start the wedding weekend festivities.

Have been coming here since the shop opened. Love the concept- took the best parts of Carolina Coffee Shop and made it more accessible to the students on the go. Good pricing, great rotating selection of specials, very airy and sunny interior. Baristas and staff are always friendly- most recently had a long talk with AG at the counter. Highly recommended, one of my favorite coffee shops in Chapel Hill.

Great coffee shop. Coffee is made with freshly ground local coffee. My husband and I tried iced coffee on this hot muggy day and it was delicious and refreshing. We also tried the banana chocolate gluten free cookie - - YUM! For a gluten free cookie the texture and moisture were great. Considering banana was used the balance of flavors was on point. The staff was friendly and helpful. The decor is a mix of old and new. Love the ceiling tiles and the old wood floor. Definitely should visit!

1922 is an awesome spot!!!

The atmosphere and storefront had an excellent design and feels very classic east coast. The interior has an array of seating and feels comfortable regardless of where you are.

I have yet to try any food items but the coffee is spot on. I enjoy mainly iced coffee and 1922 has a variety of homemade syrups. The Tar Heel Lattee and Iced Caramel Latte are both legit. The pricing here is reasonable and significantly cheaper than Starbucks.

1922 is my favorite coffee shop on Franklin! Lots of fun drinks and not too pricey. I’ve ordered from AG multiple times and she’s always so nice and compliments my outfits and starts convos. Coming here is always a great pick me up when it’s exam season!

I loved this place!! I’m not much of a coffee drinker, but i came here to meet a friend. The cashier Annagabriela was so kind and has the sweetest smile! As someone who doesn’t like most coffee, She recommended I try the chai latte and it was DELICIOUS! She made me feel welcome and now I have a new favorite study spot and drink.

The atmosphere of 1922 was great and the music was good as well. My caprese panini wasn’t the best and i probably wouldn’t get it again. The matcha latte was delightful and a sweet treat. Our drinks came out quickly but food took a little longer. I loved the vibe and would definitely come again for the drinks.

So happy that they opened this coffeeshop! Franklin street definitely needs more places like this. They have really good looking pastry items (haven’t tried them so not sure about the taste). Coffee is pretty good if you know what good coffee tastes like. They can also serve it in ceramic mugs if you request it. The prices seem decent but if you add a lot of extra stuff to your coffee it can get a little pricey. They do have some unique specialties that might be worth trying. The atmosphere is really nice and the location is great!

Good coffee, quick, nice space, nice staff, good wifi. My go-to Franklin St cafe.

The drip coffee is quite good, and you get a refill for dine-in drip coffee, which is nice. I think they need to keep the coffee a few degrees hotter. The espresso drinks are good too. Everything comes out fast even when they're busy. The coffee is better and faster than at Epilogue.

1922 is popular with students, so it's often hard to get a seat. So, meeting people here can be risky because you might not get a table. Generally easier to get a table at Epilogue.

The breakfast burritos are excellent.

1922 has great service, a great atmosphere, and THE BEST COFFEE. All of the servers are amazing, especially AG, she is so sweet. Camilla makes the best iced latte!

Great study spot with even better service! The barista gave good recommendations and made a great latte! I think her name was Jazzy? 10/10 will be going back

We enjoyed an iced mocha, a hot lavender latte and a chocolate chip scone here. The scone was particularly soft unlike what most places serve, which was nice.

took me 3 years to try this café but i’m glad i did and lucky to have had victoria as my barista! my iced latte was as refreshing as her energy and i’ll definitely be going back

great coffee shop on franklin street to study. service was friendly & quick , barista AG took excellent care of us. loved the matcha!

There is a good variety of coffee drinks to order and pastries to choose from. The pastries we tried were really good and I love that there is a lot of seating to choose from!

Jazzy is such a friendly and helpful barista. She gives great suggestions, and the drinks never disappoint.

awesome coffee! the cashier and baristas are friendly and so nice. they provide great service too. i had a caramel cafe au lait which was nice. it's a comfortable cafe to chill in and observe the passers-by walking down Franklin Street. it's a cafe i would wanna return to!

AG is the sweetest Barista ever at 1922! She was so kind taking my order, and was so lovely to chat with!

Everytime Victoria takes my order or makes my drinks I know I’m in good hands! They are the best 10/10!
