Newark Behavioral Health

I highly recommend this office, and even more specifically, Stephanie Calhoon as a counselor. Over the years, I really struggled to connect with various therapists at other places in Delaware. I’ve been seeing Stephanie for a little over a year now and I can really see the positive impacts that our sessions have had on my life. I still have a good amount of work to do for myself, but I have noticed progress in many areas and how my thought patterns are changing in healthier ways for the better. I seriously can’t recommend Stephanie enough.

The office itself is clean, and bright and colorful. It’s a welcoming waiting room with good technology for checking into appointments. I appreciate the filtered water cooler, and the special treats like stickers or candy that are sometimes available.

As far as the office management policies go, while I understand and respect the fact that missed appointments really impact the schedules of the professionals working there and it’s not fair to them or other potential patients seeking therapy- the missed appointment fee bothers me as it relates to accessibility and has the potential to negatively impact people who may already struggle to afford therapy as it is. I haven’t run into this situation personally, but I do hope that the office makes exceptions and considerations for patients that this could be an issue for.

Pam is the best. I've never connected with a councilor the way I do with her! I have a hard time talking to anyone. She has helped me in so many ways. She's a beautiful person and earth angel

Been seeing my therapist here for almost a year now and she has been a light in a very hard transition period of my life. I'm an addict in recovery with 2 years and some change sober now (12/12/21). Both my lungs had collapsed on my sober date and all my body weight was gone when I woke up out of a coma 3 months later. I've been struggling literally to get back on my feet ever since. She really helps me see past a few of my mental health barriers and that's crucial while I am mostly home bound. I truly believe it wasn't an accident I happened to be assigned Pam and she is a wonderful person. Highly recommend this facility and their therapists/consolers.

Nell was my therapist and she was the nicest person. I always felt like I was talking to a friend during our sessions. Setting up appointments were simple and fast. Whenever I needed extra help she fit me in. Compared to other places in this field, Thriveworks is a very good price.
Most of all I went there feeling broken thinking I could never get better. It was Nell who put me back together without medication. Also, it was convenient for me because she had in person sessions, computer sessions, and phone sessions.

My therapist is amazing, wonderful suggestions and I feel completely comfortable speaking with her!
