This is a great, cozy, local diner. The food is always yummy, and while you have plenty to choose from, the menu isn't overwhelming. They recently started selling beer, which is a nice new touch. The service is always great, and the waitresses are the sweetest. Always on top of things! An affordable and delicious option when shopping on Main St.

This is a hometown, locally owned restaurant. It's a diner vibe with friendly staff, fresh made, home-cooked favorites and fast service. Everything we ordered was fresh and tasty from fried Oysters, to turkey dinner, to chicken fried steak, to wings. Kids menu is great with fresh pizza. The dough is homemade. The special appetizer of Philly cheese steak egg rolls with a smoked hot pepper jam was fantastic! Now, let's talk about the pies! They are too much, in a good way! We tried 5 pies: keylime, coconut cream, lemon meringue, chocolate pecan and Reese peanut butter. Wow, wow, wow, they were all perfectly sweetened, beautifully decorated and soooooo fresh. The owner makes them fresh daily. We will be back!!!!!

Local diners are The Best! I had the baked trout and loved it, the seasoning and the mac salad were delicious! My wife got a great burger served just the way she wanted it, lettuce and tomato on the side.

They were busy and shorthanded but still didn't have to wait very long .. i got a burger which was one of a very few that I've ever had at a restaurant that had good flavor and wasn't overcooked, it was medium as asked. decent sweet tea. decent service even though they were slammed

Lee's Restaurant in Kilmarnock reminds me of the best restaurants of my childhood--and in those days pretty much everyone who was planning on dining out was dressed for church. Lee's boasts of feeding us for four generations--and if they were always a good as they are today, I can not imagine any end to the generations they will serve. Today my wife and one of my sons introduced me to Lee's Restaurant, as they have dined there every time they dined in Kilmarnock: and today I found out the excellent reason they won't go anywhere else: EVERYTHING ON THE MENU IS REALLY GOOD! I was going to try a fried chicken breast to test out the kitchen today--but unfortunately for the experiment, FIFTEEN CHICKEN BREASTS HAD GONE OUT IN A SINGLE ORDER! That suggests to me that the chicken breasts are pretty darn good. But if all the chicken breasts were gone, I consoled myself with a generous bowl of Oyster Stew (I believe they were Rappahannock Oysters, for the smiles on their faces were almost as big as mine, and there were a LOT of them!), and two splendid Grilled Crab Cakes, with generous sides of Pickled Beets and Potato Salad. Yes, better than my Mom used to make, Chef!

Lest you feel I was eating rather greedily, I admit I agree with you, and mid-meal I stopped and packed everything that was left to take home.

Then I ate a slice of Homemade Apple Pie a la Mode.

I recommend everything. I regret nothing. I recommend you go there as soon as possible. I finished my lunch a few minutes ago (about 7 PM), and I wanted to let you know right away!

Great, old-school, downhome restaurant. Country cooking at its best. Their hot roast beef or turkey sandwiches are not to be missed. Fresh homemade pies daily.

This review is only for the desert my friend and I had one afternoon. My friend and I had eaten there for lunch several months ago ( I'm sorry I don't remember what I had then) I do remember the chocolate cheesecake we both had! It was a slice of dark chocolate heaven and the only reason we came back that afternoon was to get more! Our waitress was very friendly and told us we needed to try their fried chicken 🍗 next time we stopped in. She told us it was hand breaded by their chef 👨‍🍳 and is one of their specialities.
It is not a fru fru restaurant, the dress is casual and the decor is a nautical theme. It has been there for a very long time so the chicken is probably a draw along with seafood.
Whatever you get to eat, if you love chocolate and cheesecake, order it for desert!

Had such an excellent meal here while on vacation. 5 of us all loved everything! I’ve never had a better hush puppy in my life! Our waitress was as so friendly too-would definitely come back if in the area!!

Went for an early dinner on a Saturday. Seated immediately. Friendly hostess and wait staff. Grilled and fried seafood options, plus home style cooking. Grilled scallops were excellent. Husband enjoyed the seafood platter he ordered. All in all, a nice meal in a friendly atmosphere.

A great restaurant to have something delicious to eat. The Cole slaw and corn bread were the best I've had in a long time.
It is a very friendly atmosphere for large and small groups of people. The staff were very attentive. My glass was always full.

What an exceptional restaurant. I have tried the seafood platter a couple of times and it has been great each time. A family style restaurant that treats newcomers as well as the regulars. The wait staff takes very good care of you and the homemade desserts are worth the extra calories.

The food here was super yummy. We had a variety of menu items in our party of 5. Everything from salads, burgers to grilled trout and grilled cheese. It was all amazing. The grilled cheese was like one I would make at home. It looked sooo good. The salads were made with beautiful greens and were very fresh, not just iceberg.
I reccomend the sweet potato fries. They were the crispiest I've had.
The service was the best we've had in forever, by the sweetest woman named Tammy. She made our family feel so welcome.
Everything was extremely clean. The tables, the floors. I was very comfortable at this lovely place. If we lived in the area, we would definitely frequent this restaurant.

The food, service, and price were very good. Our server was the best, so friendly and helpful. We felt like the only tourists there the night we went. Lots of locals, which tells you something. We’ll go back when we’re in that area.

Lee's has been around for years. GOOD FAMILY FOOD !!!💖 We meet family up here twice a year at least. A big table for 6 to 12 people. Plus my Mom and I try to go at least once a month.

This is hands down the best restaurant for seafood of any I've been to in Virginia, possibly anywhere. Everything is homemade and this is truly a family run business with multiple generations working there when we were there. This was our first time dining here, so we tried a lot of things--fried oysters, Rockfish, fried crab cake, fried shrimp, fried fish, pickled beets, sweet potato fries, butter beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, pinapple upside down cake and cherry cheese cake. All were exceptional with only the sweet potato fries and butterbeans being average. The fried oysters, crab cakes and pickled beets were the best I've ever had. This is definitely worth the 40 minute drive and is now our go-to seafood restaurant. And the prices were very reasonable for the quality of food you get.

Wonderful staff! Huge selection of food. We had chicken fried steak and crab cakes. Both were really good. We waited about 10 minutes for a table at 2 p.m.,,, so you know it is very good to have a line at off peak hours on Saturday! We will absolutely be back.
