Donna's on Main

I live locally and had to run “into town” for a few things. My husband and I decided to make an impromptu day date of the trip and stop somewhere for a bite together.
I will admit, this was not our first choice, we actually checked out 2 different places on the Main Street strip but one was closed and the other was only carry out (they had 3 or 4 “tables” but they were literally the size of a small tire lol.)
We finally settled on Donna’s and I’m so glad we did!
I ordered a burger and fries, my husband ordered a crab cake sandwich and sweet potato fries. We also ordered hush puppies as an appetizer. As a Maryland native I am happy to say that the crab cake was amazing. NO FILLER and good sized for the price. The burger was more than I expected it to be, I was honestly fearful it would be a premade patty (which always seem to taste more like grease than beef) and I was happy to find out that I was worried for nothing. The burger was bigger than the bun and, according to the menu description, a half pound in weight (before cooking) and beyond tasty with the perfect crunchy sear!! My meal was $14, the crab cake was $20, and the hush puppies were $5 (for 10). We both ordered beverages and, while I’m not one to typically gush over unsweetened iced tea (always my beverage of choice at restaurants) the iced tea was PHENOMENAL! It actually tasted like what fresh iced tea bags smell like when you open the box (instead of dirty tea water like you find in most restaurants).
All in all, I am so glad we ended up at Donna’s on main and, at a reasonable $40 for our meal, we will definitely be returning to experience more of the menu in the near future.

Great little place to stop. We had the wings, chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans and the chili dog. The Chicken fried steak was amazing and the chili dog huge! Topped things off with the apple fried pie. Lance was excellent helping us!

Donna’s served us a delicious dinner. The succulent monk fish was very nicely broiled and the chicken fried steak was classic southern comfort food fully on point. Portions were good. The service was excellent. The price made for a good value for quality food. We left well fed.

Hats off to the staff which pulled this off on a busy Saturday night.

Donna’s is one of our favorite Northern Neck restaurants.

First time going here with family, the food was fantastic. I ordered the fried catfish sandwich that came with fries and for desert the bread pudding. The food was amazing and customer service was excellent. The server was extremely friendly and I also had the chance to meet the owner she was very welcoming. Definitely plan to come back soon.

We ate here last night, and WOW!!! The food was absolutely amazing. I had the special, prime rib dip sandwich and fries, my husband had the pimento burger, both were outstanding!! This is the only time I can remember ever finishing a meal in a restaurant and not having to take leftovers home. It was so good it would have been a crime not to finish it while it was fresh and warm! Service was also attentive and friendly, and the drinks were well made and tasty! Definitely recommend checking out Donna's on Main!!

First time experience at Donna's. Came to this area to visit my partners family and I got to pick the dinner spot. The food was better than awesome, as it not only satisfied, but blew my expectations out of the water. I even made the claim they served me the best broccoli I've ever had. The service was a 5/5 and everyone either had a genuine smile or a welcoming and joyful tone about them. I can't wait to come back to visit, we will definitely be coming back to Donna's
Oh, and try the crem brulee cheesecake, best cheesecake ever

Apparently, this is Kilmarnock's place to be, and place to be seen, on Sunday early-afternoons. That's when friends leave their church services together and head for Donna's on Main. The menu is extensive and varied -- you can enjoy a nice, filling meal for under $20.

Great local place good food and seafood options. Dog friendly for outdoor dining! Dee our server was friendly and fast. She brought a nice bowl of ice water for the pup. Recommend! We’ll be back. Thanks, Dee and Donna’s!

It is a nice little place. The service is good and staff is very nice 👍. I like the food.

Our first, but definitely not last, visit to eat at Donna's. Had the soft shell crab sandwich with a side salad. It was marvelous. Could taste the freshness in both dishes. Husband had a delicious club on panini. Great casual atmosphere that draws in locals and visitors. Went on a Monday at 3pm. Seated ourselves. Quick friendly servers. Found easy street parking. Wish we had room for dessert as choices looked really tempting. Maybe next time! Almost forgot the extremely tasty calamari with yummy dipping sauce.

We grabbed brunch here on the Sunday of Memorial Day Holiday. As expected, the place was slammed but even so the service and the food was great. Thanks to Lance, the Bartender, for his excellent attitude and service. He kept the mood at the bar light and easy. As it poured rain outside, the wait inside was not only bearable but pleasant. Great afternoon. We will be back!

Wait staff was wonderful, accommodating and easygoing.
The food-NO COMPLAINTS WHATSOEVER!
Only one negative thing we could say was the wait for our meals was slightly longer than we anticipated, but, hey, honestly, the waitstaff more than made up for that! *Frannie* was fantastic and fun to deal with, she made our experience great!

Donna's catered breakfast for our morning Rotary Club Meeting. Arrived early, stayed to serve/support, and surpassed all expectations. I told Duane that his biscuits and gravy were to die for. I happily offer my highest approval for their catering service.

The food was great the service was perfect I would definitely go back to eat here again and recommend this place to anyone who wants a home cooked meal

Lighting is a little dark and the furniture could use sprucing up, but the food and service make up for that. Donna is always delightful to encounter and her wait staff is friendly and patient.

Friendly place with fabulous food. Fresh ground beef from Tri-Star that's where I buy my beef! Soups made right there!!
Get the Loco Moco!!

Donna's on Main has that bar restaurant vibe. This means that depending on the time of day you go, you will get more bar vibes at night and restaurant vibe during the day.
I ordered the fried chicken, and they are up front with the wait time because it is made to order. Folks, let me tell you, it was worth the wait! I'm currently in a food coma typing this, so yes, it was delicious and the portions generous.
The staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
Overall it is a great local place that serves good old-fashioned comfort food, and I'm really happy that we stopped by.

Simply delicious! I had the Caesar salad adding fried oysters. Oysters were fresh, tender and nearly melted in my mouth. The romaine was dark green and crisp. Perfection! After striking up a conversation with the owner about the fact that a miserable cold, rainy day like we were having was a perfect day for chili, he brought me out a small taste of some of the most flavorful chili I've ever tasted, made with locally sourced beef. A delicious meal and delightful experience! Do yourself a flavor-- go to Donna's on Main!

Excellent service! Frannie was fantastic and took care of our entire party of 40 plus. Food was very good. The vegetarian burger was very good. I highly recommend this place, if you're into Kilmarnock area.
