My husband and I just returned from a weekend stay and we cannot say enough good things about it! We stayed in The Berkley and it was everything we could have asked for. The amenities were plentiful and the private balcony overlooking the courtyard was the perfect place to just sit and relax. The room came with a hot gourmet breakfast each morning - anything you want off the menu - and both were plentiful and delicious. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and we had the pleasure of speaking with the owner, who was happy to fill us in on the history of the inn. We loved every second of our stay in this charming town and inn and will definitely be returning!

The sign out front says it all. "Best of Virginia" might be an understatement, actually. We stopped here for lunch with our nephew just to "try something different." What we experienced was an amazing meal in a gorgeous and comfortable setting, as though we were visiting President Wilson at his country home for tea.

We will absolutely go back. And even though we live in the area, we might even book one of the cute "cabins" in the back for a romantic getaway, simply because of this spontaneous visit for a bite to eat. ❤🤍💙

Be sure to read the history about this place and why they've named the cabins the way they did. It will splash your heart with a touch of patriotism, and you'll be all the more grateful that this historical gem has been maintained with such beautific standards.

Exceptionally beautiful atmosphere. Delicious food. Great service. On the pricey side, but the experience was worth it. We'll be back.

We had been looking forward to a weekend getaway for months, and wanted to stay here for a long time. The management took care of everything, and anything brought to their attention. They provided a memorable experience during our stay. We look forward to returning soon.

The Kilmarnock Inn is a very unique bed and breakfast inn; among the very best. The food, accomodations and services provided by the staff were truly outstanding. We enjoyed our stay very much. The proprietor and staff were very personable, professional and helpful. In addition, the Kilmarnock Inn is adjacent to downtown with easy access to shopping; just walk down the street. Very nice experience. Highly recommended.

I had a wonderful breakfast to start my day. Eggs Benedict. The coffee was good. The atmosphere and my waitress were both very nice. Everything you could hope to expect. Exactly as it should be. Thank you!
Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful time having a late lunch. Absolutely wonderful food. Sue was our server. She took great care of us ( there were 9 of us). There again, our food was delicious, thank you, Rachel .

Had lunch, they had a brunch menu so ordered biscuits and gravy. The food was very good and was served fast and hot. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. My friend ordered a salmon salad...beautiful. Salmon fresh and spinach as well. The crab cakes are excellent as well. A very enjoyable experience.

Our room was spacious, quiet, had everything we needed for comfort, and allowed our small dog. We liked the Keurig in the room—great—and a nice little front porch. Breakfast was generous and included. Service was wonderful. Everyone was so nice Rather a lot of “decor,” but it is an historic inn. Tip: there’s a park off the back parking lot that’s good for dog walks, and Lee’s Diner around the corner is simple, affordable, and good for dinner.

My husband, some of our wedding party/guests, and I stayed at the Kilmarnock Inn while in town for our wedding. The service was excellent and the space was perfect for our stay! We were in the Madison Cottage, which was lovely and a great space to get ready in that morning. We used the Jefferson Gathering Hall for a casual welcome event the day before the wedding and took some photos in the beautiful courtyard/Inn grounds the morning of the wedding. Wonderful stay overall!

What a treasure! As an owner of a bed and breakfast myself, I know and appreciate a well-run establishment and I can tell you that you won't be disappointed with this one. The buildings, garden, and grounds are beautiful and full of unique art-structures, historical factoids, and offer a peaceful ambiance. The suits are located in separate outbuildings (behind the main building) which are built and decorated in the style of historic colonial plantation houses. I unknowingly booked the pet-friendly room and was shocked when I found out (at checkout) since there was zero evidence of any pet history. Everything was immaculately cleaned and maintained, the beds were comfortable, and there were ample amenities provided (coffee machines, mini fridge, bath robes, etc). The breakfast menu was world-class and the owners and their staff were friendly and accommodating 'above and beyond'. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra few bucks on this place - the free/included breakfast is more than worth it and you won't be disappointed.

We did not lodge at the Inn, we spent a couple hours having brunch and walking the garden. From the front, it's very unassuming historic gem. We parked and entered from the rear entrance and it was a mind blowing experience! The guest cottages are adorable, each with lush landscaping, intimate privacy and named after the "founding father's"

We arrived at the end of the food service. Our hostess, Karen (introduced herself as 'the good kind' -, ha!) was attentive to our needs but not hovering! She was funny, and genuine.

The food was AMAZING! Our party ordered the lobster rolls, and chicken salad which was just the right amount of creamy.

Again, not a guest at the Inn but for a pleasant, bougie dining experience, highly recommend.

Adding some pics from the garden.

We haven't stayed there but enjoy their breakfast menu, available 7 days a week from 8-2. It's a bit spendy but seldom disappoints. The indoor and outdoor atmosphere are a little over the top but I consider it good bread with lots of circus. Take a minute and tour the back courtyard sometime. It's unlike anyplace I have ever seen.

Had brunch here. The lovely old building is beautifully decorated. We had our own little alcove for seating. The croissant breakfast sandwich was filled with the fluffier scrambled eggs I have ever had and a slice of tender ham. A side of hollandaise, fruit and fried potatoes completed the meal. Service by Haley was excellent.

Took out of town visitors for breakfast and it was wonderful! Signature Bloody Mary's were delicious, eggs Benedict cooked to perfection, breakfast burrito was great! They were impressed as I knew they would be. Service was super! We walked the gardens after breakfast and everything was so quaint that my friends are considering staying there for their next visit!

This is a very quaint place to stay! Rooms have all the amenities you would expect and are exceptionally clean and tidy. And the hotel has interesting tidbits about the Virginia Presidents posted throughout.

Kilmarnock Inn is an exceptional experience. It is themed as a patriotic romp through US politics from our beginnings. You may stay in the Madison cottage, surf the internet on the Jefferson WiFi channel, and dine at Filibuster's. Breakfast is inclusive and features, among others, the Presidential, Harrison Hash, or Eggs Benedict Arnold. I liked this one with eggs over easy. Lunch is very good, but their crab or onion soup was all that I myself needed. Dinner is served Thursday through Saturday, and we found it excellent. Try the duck breast.

The management is family hands-on. For that matter, we were treated as family. I swapped recipes with the kitchen and jokes with everyone.

The rooms were clean and quiet. One issue with hot water, but there was a microwave and mini-fridge, and heat in the bathroom.

Full bar and extensive wine collection. Ample parking. As one might expect, this is not a low budget hostel. If however, you remember that a breakfast that would cost you $25 or so per person is included, and you don't have to listen to a Zoom meeting in the next room, it is a good value for money.

Had an absolutely lovely lunch with my visiting Mom and teen girls today. Our server “Dee” was just the best. She was very busy…covering the entire outdoor eating patio and never missed a beat…a total professional! We started as a party of 2 and added 2 teens to our table mid meal. They were welcomed and accommodated without hesitation. The patio was beautiful, ample umbrella shade on a sunny, warm NNK afternoon. Loved the option of lunch or brunch until 2:00! I had the Crab Louie salad and while unassuming looking, was delightful and filling. My mom had never had “Croque Monsieur” and while this was not a “traditional” rendition it was so good. I think she may be disappointed ordering this anywhere else! The side of fresh summer squash and zucchini was definitely not frozen and really elevated this brunch dish! The teens opted for a recommended cheese burger (looked amazing) and the picky vegetarian got the Caesar Salad and ate the whole thing. A side of fries was not delivered with the meal because they were making “hot and fresh” ones that were delivered quickly and were definitely “hot and fresh”! Of course they had dessert and that sent the lunch over the top! For all the food and drinks we had I felt like the prices were very fair. I cannot say enough about our server…she made our lunch feel festive and celebratory. It’s been a looonnnggg time since I’ve felt this level of care and professionalism in a restaurant. Thank you! We will be back!
