First time in this kind of a venue and what a wonderful experience. Better than front row seats, more intimate than a small club. The artist, Chloe Youtsey, is a local artist who is on par with any, yes any artist on the big stages currently. Great voice, pacing, phrasing and the gift of vulnerability. Looking forward The Tennessee Stiffs in a couple of weeks.
If the purity of music is what seeking, this is it. BYOB or not.

Calmen Thread: A destination and a journey; A dynamic embrace in a warm static scene – the experience ever evolving, yet somehow remaining familiar, comfortable, unchanged. Like a dream…

I heard about Calmen Thread through one of Austin’s phenomenal local musicians named Chloe Youtsey. She had shared that her musical group Duo Nuvole was performing at a private house, and I knew I had to attend. I had never been to a private house concert before, and it was something I had always wanted to experience.

Days later, I arrived at a beautiful neighborhood and stepped inside to an elegant abode. Shortly after, I met Calmen Thread’s wonderful host Nancy Salmons whose peaceful aura warmed my spirit. I met a whole host of interesting people including Uwe whose philosophical insights stimulated my intellectual curiosity. We spoke of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” and the physics of light and how our names guide who we become. We drank wine, ate hors d’oeuvres, and enjoyed the magic of intimacy & new friends that is difficult to find at ordinary concerts.

The music began, and there is nothing like sublime music in an enclosed space with excellent acoustics. It is like being elevated into a new state of being. Transcendence. We listened to Duo Nuvole’s enthralling performances of Stevie Wonder classics such as “Living for The City” and “Isn’t She Lovely.” We also enjoyed some of Chloe’s creative masterpieces such as her original song, “If We Work.”

Chloe and her talented percussionist Anthony Corsaro brought us on a musical adventure, building the energy slowly into a satisfying climax and then bringing the music to a delightful simmer, ending the night on a wonderful note.

Thank you Calmen Thread for your incredible hospitality. Thank you Duo Nuvole for your unforgettable performance. The experience was everything I had imagined it would be and more. I'm still dreaming about it. See you again soon.
