Annie's is a great place. She does an amazing job with the doggo's. The pens are labeled as to whether each dog is friendly & walkable or if they need help.
She doesn't adopt the dogs out to just anyone either. It's good to be a good fit.
Great place!!! 😀🐶

I had to surrender a stray dog we found. Annie's helped us help this good girl. Please support Annie's as there are few no kill rescues, and vet care, food and utilities are expensive. They do the best they can, and love animals. I do not know what we would have done without their help.

I was looking for a companion for my 8 year old terrier last year after my 16 year old chi passed away. I found Annie's Orphans through Petfinder. I knew I had to have Moki as soon as I saw his photo! Problem was that he was unadoptable due to lack of socialization. I'd worked with this type of pup before and Annie was willing to give it a go. The staff there were very helpful. Annie spent a couple hours with us to be sure Moki was the right match for my dogs. Everyone there cares a lot about each of their dogs. I would adopt from them again, absolutely!

Annie's Orphans is truly a labor of love. There is so much invested in the animals there, and in touring the grounds you can tell that the love, compassion, and desire to care for animals who needed it most has only grown over the years. I see the network of dog pens (each equipped with more than modest amenities and care) as being like a patchwork quilt that has been added lovingly to over the years to create a beautiful masterpiece. The animals there are truly cared for and looked after, regardless of their appearance or ability, and Anna is adamant about finding them their true match, which I admire. They are not simply toys to be given away, they are pets, meant to become part of one's family ❤.

I've adopted 2 dogs from Annie's Orphans over the years and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Anna and Bill love and care for these dogs as they would their own. The way the kennels are set up and the way the dogs change kennels when it appears they've become bored with their surroundings, prevents them from going kennel crazy the way many dogs do in standard shelters where they live in 4' x 8' (or smaller) kennels. This is the best place for dogs awaiting their happily ever after. Durango is lucky to have Annie's Orphans! Please note that if Anna refuses to adopt a particular dog out to a particular person or family, it's in the dog's best interest. She's not about numbers and moving dogs - like other shelters; she's about making the best match so that dogs do not get returned to a shelter - which is very traumatic for the dog. If you didn't get a dog from Anna - look at yourself - not at her. She knows what she's doing. She gets dogs that were adopted out from other shelters without so much as a question asked and is asked to take them in because people want to return a bad match and don't want the dog to go to a kill shelter. It's sad.
Thank you Anna and Bill!

Annie's does an outstanding job of advocating for the animals. They truly are a no kill shelter and they find good homes for as many as possible.

Anna truly cares about her resident group of dogs. She is very involved in their everyday life, trying to rehabe what some would say are, " not worth the effort." She believes that every life is important.
Thank you Anna for what you do for your family.🐾

This place is amazing! They truly do take care of all their dogs. I don't think there is anything Anna would not do for the pups there.
