JB’s Cafe and Cocktails

Hubby & I ain’t from around here but we came as quick as we could❤ to visit his niece who married a local from Rice Lake & THEY brought us here for the famous “Friday Fish Fry!” And mam o man, it did not disappoint
The fish was perfectly cooked both fried and broiled- the fried fish had a great tasting, light batter that didn’t hide the beautiful cod and the broiled fish was light and flaky with this wonderful butter sauce!!! ❤
The cole slaw was delicious and flavorful and more than just a side - i would go eat it all by itself! I’m a bit of a cole slaw connoisseur (self proclaimed😂) and then there was the baked potato - loaded- outstanding!!!
Don’t forget the cheese curds- my eyes rolled back in my head and then I looked over and saw a Bloody Mary on the next table and the lady said, “ They are really good here!” So I ordered one and she was corrrrect!! It came with usual condiments but they added 2 chunks of WI cheese & a piece of summer sausage🙈😘so I was in heaven!
The staff was outstanding, just what you’d expect from a local place, the bartender even came out to ask about the Bloody Mary which I have to say was delish because whatever BM mix they use was really light & didn’t taste like that heavy, thick stuff you usually get!
I was so excited about this place- I’d honestly come back just for the fish💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼❤and cole slaw!
P.S. The prices were great also!!
Oh, they’ll be closed this Saturday because the bartender and one of the waitresses were getting married💋🎉💐how cute is that!

Busy Friday night. Friendly waitstaff and kitchen folks! We waited a while for dinner, but we’ll worth it! One of us ordered bluegills, which were excellent. Cod sandwich was very good too. Fish cooked perfectly, not overdone, with light breading. Coleslaw delish and red potstickers fresh. Everything was very good!

Awesome Bartender. Awesome Service. The fish fry was absolutely OUTSTANDING. The burgers are spot on as well. They cook to exactly to your liking. It's going to be the New Friday night Fish Fry spot. And definitely the spot for a burger ....

We ordered the fish fry to go, but it wasn't ready when we arrived. We had to wait for about 20 minutes...BUT, it was so worth the wait!! BEST FISH FRY AROUND!!

Place was packed but the bartender was amazing. She was taking care of the bar and the dining room by herself. Food was excellent. Service was better there than most places I have been in the last couple of years. Will definitely go back.

While up north on vacation, me and my brother were looking for a place in Rice Lake that was good for breakfast and had a full bar for a Bloody Mary. We stumbled across JB’s and were not disappointed! Food was great, large portions and very tasty. The Bloody Mary was also on point. Will definitely visit again when we’re back up there!

Great place to eat and have drinks. Staff is very friendly and attentive. It was busy, and they kept up great. A definite must stop.

Really underrated brunch at this spot. Great variety on the brunch menu (which was hard to find online so I’m posting photos). Cocktails were solid too.

JB’s is great! Food was outstanding and reasonably priced, service was great, will be eating here again soon!

We joined family friends at JB’s for brunch on Mother’s Day. As a treat to myself on Mother’s Day, I customized the Salmon Omelette with Pepper Jack Cheese, which they we’re happy to do. They were very busy so, we may have had an extended wait for our meals. However, I must say that my meal was so delicious; it was well worth the wait. The waitress was fantastic and the bartender wanted to make sure we were offered a fresh tulip in celebration of Mother’s Day! Each time we’ve been there it has been great. When you don’t want to be rushed, and you would like a good drink and a relaxing time give them your business; you will not be disappointed!

Excellent service. Great food, and great people! We will be back.

We were going through Rice Lake, WI wanted to find a lunch spot and stumbled upon Shananagin's. Crazy amazing homemade food and the nicest staff you'll ever meet. I highly recommend.

Excellent food - the burger was phenomenal. Good cheese curds too!

Came in with about 25 people for breakfast while in town for a hockey tournament. We were welcomed with no hesitation. Extra staff came in to help out. Food was AMAZING! Staff was VERY friendly! Highly recommend!

Very good mushroom swiss and fries. The wait staff was wonderful, and working their butt off. Definitely will stop again.

Only gave it 4 stars because the interior is dated.
My wife I agree burgers were grilled perfectly. Friendly servers.

We’re from out of town & were referred here by our friend Lisa who manages The Last Resort in Mikana. A great big THANK YOU to Lisa as she definitely did not steer us wrong! This place has easily the BEST fish fry we’ve had in years! And the wait staff is absolutely AWESOME! We will definitely be coming back!
