Carol's Hungry Mind Cafe

Carol's is THE place to go in Middlebury for coffee. A great atmosphere with great staff. Plenty of seating, good food options as well. The story of the establishment is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Be sure to give this place as much business as you can as it is a valuable gem of the community, and also check out their sister establishment, the diner on Rte 7 heading North towards Vergennes.

We love it here. Great cafe, comfortable, reasonable prices. For a quieter atmosphere during the day, check out downstairs. We love to sit down there and look out at the river. Good spot for the kids to have a little space too.

Very attentive, friendly staff! I had the blueberry scone, sun-dried tomato basil mozzarella panini with a side of greens and a large green tea. Excellent service and delicious food. The eclectic vibe, relaxing, study friendly music and relaxed conversational atmosphere make this a fantastic option if you are in Middlebury.

I start every Saturday off meeting a friend here where we sit by a window with a view of the river, or at a table outside and talk and enjoy Carol's huge variety of coffees, teas, scones, and light breakfasts. It's a treasured Middlebury fixture.

This is a friendly and comfortable place to have coffee or a light breakfast or lunch, either alone or with friends. I like to have meetings there as well. Great variety of coffees and teas.

Middlebury can be split into two time frames - before Carol's and after. It is a great local spot that unites the town and gown as it is used as the place to meet people for conversation by Middlebury College students and professors and also as "the office" by many business people needing free wifi and the caffeine to fuel their work. The coffee is mostly by a local roaster - Bud's. And all of the food is baked and prepared on-site. If you are a visitor to Middlebury and need a break or to refuel, Carol's provides pastries and food (sandwiches, soup, frittatas, breakfast sandwiches) as well as the full range of coffee and tea drinks. Ask Kelly to make you one of her trademark creations.

Carol's is THE place to get your first cup of morning Joe in downtown Middlebury. (And your second. ) Comfortable and casual, with interesting art on display. Great origin story.

Cozy, welcoming and friendly. Excellent coffee, coffee beverages and snacks. A little pricey but probably no more than Starbucks

This place is cozy and cute. The staff is so nice. Wonderful baked goods. Great couches in the back to hang out.

I recently was there and tried the Chamomile tea and it was literally the greatest tea I ever had. I don't know where they get but it must be from heaven
