The Middlebury Inn

We just hosted our daughter’s wedding at Middlebury Inn. It was beautiful. The staff at the inn, and in particular the wedding coordinator, Rachael, did an incredible job to make the wedding perfect. We had 53 people attending the wedding and hosted them for a Friday night buffet as well as the Saturday wedding. The wedding ceremony was held in front of the gorgeous fireplace with cushioned, antique style chairs. We had a cocktail hour in the tavern as the staff transformed the room into the most perfect reception room I’ve ever seen. The space for the wedding was elegant and included a dance floor, white twinkle lights, tulle, and linen covered tables; we added the gold stars and a disco light. The food was delicious and definitely high end. The bride and groom wanted special “signature” cocktails served at the reception and it was no problem at all for the bartenders. The wedding coordinator made sure the event ran smoothly and on time. There is not a single thing we would change. I highly recommend the Middlebury Inn for a wedding.

Great Location, clean rooms, will stay again. One of the few places where you can get a moderately priced room for a family of five. Terrace was closed and there was no extra amenities (breakfast etc.) included in the price. However, we were happy with the clean room and free parking. Again..great location!

I thought we were too late to get the Thanksgiving brunch but when we checked in we were asked what time we would like to be seated! And the brunch was fabulous. Our entire stay had a very luxurious feel.

One of the few Vermont inns on the list of Historic Hotels of America is The Middlebury Inn (1827) and 2019 winner of the Award of Excellence in the Historic Hotels of America.

In contrast to many of the other drab, uninteresting options, this hotel is much more charming, and quaint. It is NOT "luxury”. However, they do offer spa services.

The rooms are kept in good condition, and the maintenance team responds quickly to any issues. Just speak with Becky and Chantal, the front desk employees, about any needs.

The bedding and towels are very comfortable, and the inn has many modern amenities.

Breakfast or dinner are both good options at the Middlebury Tavern. Sue and Diana, two of their long-time dinner servers, are amazing. Thursday night's music is a nice addition.

The almost 200 year old hotel was very comfortable in a great location. The staff was very attentive, and the restraunt was exceptional and affordable. I would recommend to anyone looking for an experience outside a chain stay.

First off, location is beautiful down town with lots of places in walking distance! The hotel is a classic decor & makes you feel "fancy" staff are friendly, dressed well & service is great! Our room was huge with two queen beds & 2 full baths. Very clean. The bar was fun & great drinks & service! Highly recommend!

My wife and I celebrated our wedding here in January 2023. After looking throughout Vermont over several months for a beautiful location within our budget, we were so happy to find the Middlebury Inn. After our first visit to the space with Rachael, the Events Manager at the Inn, we immediately felt comfortable and supported in arranging and planning for the big day. All of our questions were quickly answered and the whole team went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable over the wedding weekend. The food was great (so many of our guests commented after that it was the best food that they ever had at a wedding) and the space was decorated beautifully for our cozy winter wedding. We definitely would recommend to any of our friends and family who wanted to book an intimate ceremony and celebration in a beautiful Vermont location.

Everyone was really very nice. Hospitality-plus. We didn't expect to be in Middlebury, but we were on a 1,000 mile motorcycle tour and we had a mechanical surprise that landed us there overnight. The folks at the inn took us in, gave us a great room (a suite!) and told us about all the cool places to eat in town. We need to go back actually. It's a historic inn, it's cool, it's old, it's real. It's in excellent condition. The suite they put us in was very comfortable and quiet. The bed was really nice, the shower was so welcome and good after such an eventful day on the road. The sitting room or lobby is really nice with comfy, overstuffed chairs. My wife and I were able to hang out there and read while waiting for the motorcycle shop for finish the work. It's a great inn and we'll be back! Maybe fall?

We love this historic inn in Vermont. It was our second stay. The rooms were very clean, bed comfy, and loved the historic charm. It is located in Middlebury village. The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a delicious brunch in a quaint room. A highlight was a ride in an antique Otis elevator manned by staff. All in all a very nice visit.

Had a wonderful stay! Lovely staff, cozy room and stunning historical building! Didn't have a chance to eat there but looking forward to that on the next visit!

I stayed here for a business trip with my husband and we had a lovely stay. We stayed in the Mansion section. It’s an old place so it isn’t as soundproof as a chain hotel but still very peaceful. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The front porches right on the green were great for relaxing. It is right on the street, so there is road noise at night so prepare accordingly if you are a very light sleeper. Great location, great service

We had our wedding locally in Shoreham, VT and had all our guests stay at the Middlebury Inn. We also had our rehearsal dinner in one of the dining rooms at the inn.

The rooms were charming and very clean and all our guests got to enjoy a unique Vermont experience. The staff for the rehearsal dinner were very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.

We coordinated everything with Rachael, the sale and events manager. She was such a great help setting up our room block, organizing the rehearsal dinner, helping us develop the menu, and accommodating our different requests.

We will recommend this to all our friends staying in the area.

Absolutely love this place, we keep coming back! The rooms are unique and immaculate, the historic atmosphere permeates the original buildings. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The restaurant is wonderful, and there are also tons of other fantastic eating options within walking distance.

We shared a room with another couple 117#. It was aVery large room with a walk in closet. It also had two separate bathrooms. The room was very nice. It was very clean. We enjoyed the music in the restaurant and lounge. We were very pleased and will stay again.

I hosted a private event at the Middlebury in that turned into be more work than I was anticipating. Without hesitation, the hotel staff steeped up to help me accomplish the end goal of the event. I can't say enough good things about the staff of this hotel. They were hands down the most accommodating hotel staff that I have ever encountered. On top of that, they have an awesome restaurant with a great breakfast wrap. Its located right in the heart of town and is walkable to anywhere in town. Highly recommend booking your event AND your stay with the Middlebury in. You will not be disappointed.

We very much enjoyed our stay. And our two dogs. Parking was readily available. The building itself is an architectural treasure. The location is extremely walkable. I have already recommended it to other family members that will be visiting Middlebury.
