Granite By Design exceeded our expectations with their exceptional workmanship, transparency and outstanding team. They delivered exactly what we envisioned for our 1950 Avondale home kitchen remodel. Every detail, from the first call we had with John, to the countertop measurements by the owner was unique. The quote was on par with other local Charleston fabricators, we did our homework and these guys are the best in the business. The final in-person 3D marble design consultation made it so easy to visualize how our slabs would look in our kitchen. The technology they have on-site ensures their cuts are flawless and finely executed.

First off, John was top-notch on the phone and via email. He was kind, genuine, and prompt. I felt at ease the minute he talked to us. John’s top priority was to deliver us with the vision and quality we wanted. What we loved about him was his honest feedback, quality service, and commitment to not cutting any corners (no pun intended).

The installers were top-tier. Christian and his crew ensured every piece of stone and detail was perfectly placed. They were perfectionist - no other way to say it. He made sure everything was precise, a quality you rarely see in this business, which means so much to us. I can honestly say the install crew treated our marble like it was their home.

Icing on the cake; our contractor walked into the kitchen after the waterfall islands were placed and said that this work was rare, not just anyone can do this!

John went above and beyond to make sure everything was delivered ahead of schedule, even early in time for Father's Day, a special occasion that I had planned. In fact, the installation happened on our wedding anniversary where we celebrated by cooking just the two of us in our new kitchen.
This team knows how to make life moments happen flawlessly and with the utmost care. They work to perfection.

I updated my kitchen and was referred to Granite by Design by my contractor. I am so glad I called them and spoke to John. John and his team did an amazing job and I’ve had multiple compliments about how wonderful the marble looks. John even helped me with marble selection and layout. It did take them several weeks to fabricate the marble but man was it worth the wait!

Remodeling a house is a very stressful experience, so anytime a subcontractor does what they say they're gonna do, when they say they're gonna do it, it's a pleasant surprise. Granite by Design did just that. Delivering quality product on time when we needed it. John and his crew were a pleasure to deal with. We selected the stone and basically, they did the rest. If only all subs were as good! We did 3 vanities, a pantry, and a kitchen with an island, one of which had a custom cutout for a soda draft arm. All installed in less than 4 hours. Well done!

John and his team did a terrific job for us. We had to source a large quartz tabletop last minute when another company broke the piece we had ordered months earlier. John pushed our job through and got it done in time for the holidays. An outstanding customer service experience.

John Beale and the team did a great job on a property I was renovating. They replaced the kitchen and bathroom countertops with a beautiful quartz and cut and installed a leathered granite on the fireplace surround and hearth. Everything turned out beautifully!

Very professional workers and Lea is the best to work with. She is extremely helpful with anything you may need and stays on top of the install and clients needs. The newly updated countertops look beautiful and increase the value of our home tremendously. I would highly recommend Granite by Design for any type of countertop you would like to replace, because you cannot go wrong with Lea. Worth every penny! I will definitely use her again on my next house!

I am trying very hard to be a recovering designer, although this has been a very difficult part of my personality to part with while designing my own home. I consulted with many (4) solid surface fabricators in the Charleston area for my entire project. Using just one fabricator, even for various materials, will save you $$$- make sure they are competent in all materials exotic materials, simply ask! *designer note*
↪ 3 of 4 of the companies were competitive in price, GBD was included (the outlier was most expensive, also I thought a few companies yes’d me to death, which in my experience never turns out to be good- nothing in design happens THAT easily)

I felt confident that GBD could achieve my design ideals. There was a distinguished lad named John Beale from GBD whom I thought really understood my particular concept and ideals- call it blind intuition, but I think it has to do with a bit of luck 🍀 and trusting my professional intuition. If I haven’t mentioned it, I am a relapsing designer and I would describe myself as detail oriented, others may not be so kind in their descriptors 😜. What I was particularly concerned about was the design using LARGE, I mean LARGE, porcelain slabs- as BIG as they come for the island. John B referred me to several suppliers that have ALL types of materials (quartz, quartzite, granite, porcelain, marble, geode, etc.) that you can touch and feel in their extensive warehouses. I settled on AGM Imports, I found them to be helpful without being too pushy and I could get most everything I needed there for my specific rooms.

My goal was to achieve a lewk with THICK seamless countertops that may be perceived as marble (expen$$$ive)- I designed my kitchen/great room to get a TON of light and I waffled between the honed and polished finish of the porcelain, which were both stunning, but John B was quick to know that the light reflection would drive me crazy. In truth, the look/feel/no fingerprints of the honed surface really sets it off- porcelain is less than 1/10 of the cost of marble and it will withstand wear and tear. Happily GBD also has a very pleasing amount of inventory of their own various solid stones and also remnant pieces- HELLO bathroom vanities! Remnants located on-site at your fabricator are extremely cost effective *designer note*

Once I made my selections and we were ready to template, John B was wonderful about reviewing the templates- I honestly couldn’t find a change I would make. Unfortunately, I know how the sausage is made, so naturally I was expecting the install process to be stressful- NOPE! I was pleasantly surprised about the minimal amount of on-site adjustments that were needed. I attribute this to being a true locally owned small business- Jaime, one of the founders/owners, came out to laser measure and review the template with me one more time prior to fabrication/install- this is not a special courtesy granted to just designers, I know he makes himself available to all customers and wants to ensure things are perfect! Which is 🎶 to my ears!!!

The porcelain surfaces with seamless mitered edges we designed for my kitchen are unreal and I am thrilled! John B is amazingly talented at maximizing materials and minimizing unnecessary costs: he was even able to source a remnant (at no cost to me) for the surround pieces that matched my extra LARGE island- this saved me purchasing an entire new slab!!! John B was extraordinarily communicative about the timeline expectations from fabrication to install. The granite selection (Brazilian, Black Forest) is so wavy and moody, I truly didn’t expect that I could love more than I already did, but once it was perfectly installed (much thought on behalf of GBD to align) in the butler’s pantry I swooned!

I have even pressed my luck with a Henry Link dresser converted to powder-room vanity using a GORGEOUS GBD remnant for this piece.

Overall, my expectations for GBD to execute on my personal project (I’m newish in CHS, with high expectations) was wildly exceeded. They are Excelsior-Decor approved!

Great service and communication followed by an incredible installation that looks flawless. Our cabinets were delayed for a few months so I was in constant contact with John and had to keep pushing our countertop installation. When we were finally ready, he prioritized our job so we could have a working condition as early as possible. Definitely highly recommended!

We had a wonderful experience with Lea and Jamie. We had initially used a different company to install our backsplash and it was a horrible experience. Granite by design saved the day!! The installers were excellent and we were able to get the exact look we were going for. We will post more pictures when the contractors finish up.

Lea and her team were amazing. My new marble counter top is not only beautiful but the team nailed the dimensions exactly! Even the cut out for the sink was perfect! In addition, Granite by Design was the only shop I could find that has a few lovely marble types that you can buy for a small area without having to buy a whole slab! Granite by Design did a fabulous job on the countertops of our new home! The kitchen, island and bathroom countertops all came out great. John was there from day one walking us through the process. He was informative and patient with our many questions. He met with us when we had a concern and offered suggestions. Jaime and the team did a great job with the installation. The team was professional and took care of all the little details. They took pride in their work and did not take any shortcuts. Kudos to a great team!
