He makes sure to equip students with both the mechanical and cognitive skillsets to be safe yet confident drivers. Not only so, but it is also a pleasure to be in his company, as George's witty remarks are always able to create a lighthearted atmosphere, which I found to be especially enjoyable when navigating anxiety-inducing streets such as East Broadway.

Mr. George prepared me to pass my road test on the first try. During lessons, he offers constructive criticism and tells you exactly what to expect when taking the test so that you feel more than prepared. He also helps you to develop good driving habits, which is especially important for first-time drivers like me. I would highly recommend.

George is the best driving instructor. Over the course of the lessons (10 or 15 lesson packages) you go through all you need to know to pass the road test smoothly. He makes you practice until you are ready and gives a very clear and honest assessment of whether you are ready or not before taking the test. George is a great instructor. Very informed instructor, and a very understanding person. He will guide you through each part of the road test that you will take in Red Hook. I got the ten lesson package, and it worked for me, but if you are not confident in your ability to learn quickly, the 15 package will surely do the trick. He gives you detailed instruction on each majour part of the road test, especially parallel parking and three point turning. Basically, take your lessons with George. You can’t go wrong. He will instruct you based on your particular needs, and he will make sure you pass your road test.

As someone who had major driving anxiety and who didn’t think they would ever be able to drive, I can’t recommend this driving school enough. George is an excellent instructor, and I greatly appreciated his patience with me as a skittish driver. Though it definitely took me a while to get over my nerves, George was always very supportive and encouraging. As an International Driver who is having to take the NY road test after many years of driving in the UK and Asia I found the 5 lesson package invaluable. George is an excellent instructor who guided me through the nuances of driving in NY, plus pointing out the (many) habits I had developed over the years. The schedule was created with my own working hours in mind and the test was scheduled early in the morning - so I could still get back to work if I needed to.

I had a great experience at this driving school! The driving instructor, George, was very knowledgeable, patient and encouraging. I would really recommend the 15 lesson package, as it allows you to feel secure in your newly acquired driving skills for the road test. What George teaches is specifically for the road test so when it's time to take the test, it feels familiar and you are prepared. Another thing to note is that this school is very accommodating when it comes to scheduling. Especially for someone like me, balancing school and work, George and his wife were able to make a schedule that worked perfectly for me!

I highly recommend 1st SGT Driving Academy. I waited until my 30s to learn how to drive and George was a thorough and knowledgeable instructor. If it is your first time behind a wheel - opt for the 15 class package. George teaches you everything you need to know for the driving test, and you practice on the streets of Two Bridges. After studying the NY Driving manual and practicing during the 15 classes, I felt confident in my skills and even passed the driving test on my first go-around. Can't recommend them enough!

George was a great instructor! He's clearly knowledgeable and prepares his students very well for the test. You take the 5 hour course over Zoom, then do 5 hour long driving courses around 2 Bridges/Chinatown, and then go to Brooklyn for the driving exam. George is funny and nice, and the experience overall was positive.

After failing a few road tests at another driving school, I was referred to this driving school. George has taught me a lot from the beginning and never gave up on me. He is a very knowledgeable and fun instructor that is willing to put his heart into your learning. George is fun to talk to and he will teach you everything you need to be ready for the road test. With George's encouragement and instructing, I was finally able to pass the road test. The driving school has a great all-in-one ‘package’ for those who already know how to drive. I.e. international drivers. Including the pro-licensing course, road test assessment and DMV road test with a car. Had a great time driving with George! He has a great attitude and a fun style. He’ll help you to fine tune your driving style to not only meet the DMV criteria but to be a better NYC driver. Highly recommended school.
