Mariposa Mexican

Finally got to experience what everyone was raving about! Came here as a date and wow, just… wow! The inside is a really cool design and lay out. Staff was very friendly. Avery was our server and do a great job of making sure everything was perfect. The food and cocktail was incredible!

Started out with the Queso and a spicy Margarita. Absolutely fantastic. The entrees were extremely well delicious bringing new flavors I have never had.

Overall great experience and can’t wait to come back. I think this restaurant has taken first place in my Best Food in Licking county!

Such a classy atmosphere. Comfy. Great location. Menus are super unique. The birria tacos with consume are my absolute favorite. All food came out hot and within a reasonable time. Also tried the avacado blue salad tossed in a tasty mango vinaigrette. Very very good. If you haven’t tried the food, I 100% recommend. Our server Olivia was absolutely pleasant. She answered any and all questions we had and kept our drinks filled. Wasn’t able to try the margaritas due to a time frame but the table beside us was ordering one after another. We will be back!

Marioposa’s is such a unique setting. Everything is meticulously picked out to set the vibe of an authentic and hip upscale Mexican restaurant. The service was top notch, they offered great recommendations based on everyone’s taste pallet. They, as in management and wait staff made sure our drinks were flowing and that our experience was great. Their guacamole and cheese fundido was amazing. The salsa had a great flavor and you could taste the freshness. My table ordered the 3 fajitas, chicken enchiladas, chicken quesadillas, Sweet potato taco and fried avocado taco. Everyone in my party loved what they ordered. We all commented on the freshness and great flavor for all the dishes. Every meal was amazing. The tequila selection was superb and the cocktails were even better. I had the spicy margarita, which was recommended to me since I don’t care for sweet drinks. It was such a great drink! The pomegranate margarita was also A+. This is my new favorite spot in Newark. Give this place a chance, you will not be sorry!

I ordered enchiladas. They were good, had a nice and tasty cheese on top, the tortillas were perfect in texture and the chicken was cooked perfect. There was a lack of spice, making the enchiladas a bit bland, it's hard to say this because I know it was probably a decision to lower spice to accommodate the average Newark resident. Also it seems they have removed a few things from the menu since I last came here.

I got a pineapple mezcal mule. Very delicious, great presentation and not overly sweet.

Service, I've never had a problem here. The staff always makes recommendations and will accommodate if asked. Food was cooked in a timely manner.

I absolutely love the decor here. Not only is the lighting perfect, but every detail is accounted for. From the beautiful textured napkins to utensils with a slight patina. Glasses are appropriately themed as well as plates. Which add to the experience. The painting of Frida Kahlo an extremely influential Mexican artist is displayed as soon as you walk in and it's a chef's kiss to the decor.

From past experiences, the staff will accommodate children if need be.

This is for sure a top restaurant here in Newark.

Awesome, authentic Mexican in the heart of downtown Newark. Wait staff was great and fast. Food was out quickly and was some of the most flavorful, delicious cuisine we have had in a long time. We would rather go here than anyplace near Columbus. Margaritas were above average and a good size. Street tacos were tasty and the pinto beans are ample enough to share. We will be back and bringing friends with us. Recommended.

It wasn't very busy, but that was okay. This was our first time experiencing what they had to offer. I'm so glad that we went. The start of just the simple chips and salsa was so good. The salsa was so much better than the chains of Mexican restaurants around the area. The chips were salty and so fresh. Our bill? $30 in total. Our jaws dropped at the price. Looking at the restaurant seems to be elegant and high-priced, which is first impressions. The flavor of the food made us think our wallet would be hurting after. I just can't get over how it was only $30. 3 tacos, and huevos rancheros with water to drink. The buttermilk fried chicken with kiwi, raddish, and sauces taco. Oh my goodness, to DIE FOR! I was skeptical, but I will always get it now. It had the best crunch. It was tangy, salty, sweet, and savory. It was the scene in Ratatouille where Remi is biting from cheese and grapes, and the colors and flavors swirl together in his brain. This food. Especially that taco will have you feeling exactly what he was trying to explain. We'll definitely be back. Thanks for getting us speaking during a meal for once!

We’ve been here before. We were disappointed but please come here again! The new chef is ROCKING Sunday brunch. We had tacos, fajitas, the smothered burrito, chorizo biscuits & gravy, and Birria huevos rancheros. You should definitely try the grits…..Every Single Thing Was Delicious! The winter mojito was great—and the service was second to none. We will definitely be back!!!

Had our anniversary dinner here. I ordered the pork belly tacos. 5 out of 5
My wife had the Mahi taco and chorizo taco. She's a wimp when it comes to spicy but still said it was delicious. Service was amazing I believe our servers name was Hannah. She hooked us up with an anniversary dessert. 5 out of 5

Just what our town needed. This little gem downtown is different than any others in town. More upscale with a menu that is anything but standard. The margaritas are delicious! We had great service during a very busy lunch hour.

We frequently eat at Mariposa...like at least once a week! The staff has always been super welcoming & the food has always been phenomenal! Our favorite is the shrimp taco- just the right spice & flavors! We can't eat a huge meal & the single taco is the perfect size for us! Chips & salsa are excellent as well! Love the weekly Taco Tuesday new creations! Surf & Turf taco was great, too! Highly recommend!

So glad we tried this for ourselves! The food was delicious and unique. The staff are doing their best, you just have to have patience! Special thanks to Savanna and Whitney for great service! The chips are my personal favorite. The shrimp and mahi tacos were both delicious. The pollo pibil was juicy and so flavorful. And the zucchini made a great side! We will come back!

This was our fourth visit & it did not disappoint! We’ve had amazing food & service with every visit. The chips, salsa & queso are great. Tonight we split the chicken burrito. We’ve done tacos in the past and everything we’ve had has been great. The vibe of the restaurant is amazing. Decor is beautiful. Emme was our server tonight & she was fantastic!! We can’t wait to come back and try brunch.

Spectacular service from start to finish. The hostess, our waitress, and the bartender were all attentive, welcoming, kind and helpful! Gorgeous atmosphere, well decorated. It looks great in here! very happy to have something like this downtown. Food was good, not the best Mexican or tacos in the area, but still were good. Margarita was good, a bit overpriced for the size and amount of ice, but was good. Overall I would go back, mostly for the good service and atmosphere.

One of the best dining experiences all around! Our waitress was Jen and she was amazing, especially considering I have a food allergy. The ambience is so fun and the margaritas are amazing. The best birria taco I've ever had and everything has just the right amount of kick. I cannot express how happy I was at Mariposa!

Just had a yummy early lunch at Mariposa. Loved the Avocado Taco ($4). The sides of rice and black beans were too generous for one person, and we have leftovers for tomorrow. Flavorful food and friendly service. Good effort for a new restaurant less than a week old!

The food, service and drinks were perfect!! The fajitas were really good.

We were skeptical to try this place given some reviews we’ve seen but we had a great experience. Margaritas were strong and tasty, we were seated quickly, and the food came in maybe 10-15 minutes. We’ll definitely be back.

We were so happy with our experience today. First, the homemade chips and salsa could have been a meal in itself...delicious. We ordered 6 different kinds of tacos, and every single one was so yummy. Our service was amazing. We will definitely be back for the Desserts!!!

First time visiting Mariposa as I was there for a music venue. Great food, friendly staff and good vibes all around. Was nice having many taco choices as well to try several options.

Stopped in for lunch, there were 3 full booths and several sitting at the bar. Our waitress was knowledgeable and had great suggestions. I had the porkbelly taco and the birria taco, both were VERY good. I had the hot sauce served with the Barria served on the side. The winter Mojito was very tasty as was the white cranberry margarita. I was impressed with the food, I will be back.
