Walked in wanting some hip hop jazz and left with two owner recommended albums and something completely differently (per my request) and thrilled with the offerings. This place is bountiful in its colllection and knowledge of music. A NY staple for sure!

Jamal’s store is awesome! He will help you with just about any question or topic about music, and his collection of CDs is pretty solid. Mostly from a different era. I remember how I discovered the magic of the West Village just by walking into his store one day and seeing all these different types of Vinyl covers decorating the walls, hearing the vintage jazz playing in the background and it really takes your imagination to the next level. This store is very unique in its design and the business owner will amaze you. This place is a gem and I swear by it!

i visited from the uk last summer with a friend and he took the time to talk to us and give recommendations, and the other staff member that was around was polite too. leaving a bad review for pricing doesn’t make sense because you know what you’re paying for; reviews should reflect quality. and from what i remember, the prices were nowhere near as bad as what people are saying.

Chaotic place with huuuge amounts of vinyl and a decent offer of cassette tapes. Prices are fair, but be ready to get your hands dirty, ‘cause there’s gonna be a lot of digging involved! Don’t miss out on it if you’re in South Village.

Nice little store. Came across by accident walking through Greenwich on a recent trip from the UK. Great that it’s away from the noise and awful commercialism of some other parts of Manhattan. You can just peruse at your leisure without someone hassling you. Got a couple of nice bargains too. Will be back next time I’m in New York. Happily recommend. Rich UK.

sweet guy running a small business. there’s some good finds in the clearance and bargain bins but you’ve gotta be committed to searching. but isn’t that half the fun of places like this?

for everyone complaining about how you can buy things cheaper online—ok, go buy it cheaper online? the beauty of going to a brick and mortar is finding something surprising that I wasn’t in the market for. if I wanted a Beatles album sure I would buy it off of Discogs. but that’s not why I go to a brick and mortar vinyl shop. also I bought Jefferson Airplane’s Bark for $6 tonight so I think y’all are just salty that you overpaid for something without doing some research first…

The owner Jamal, as well as Richie and Patrick are incredibly helpful and diligent. Everyone who works at the store is incredibly knowledgeable on music. Their DVD & Blu-ray section is the best video selection for home media. This store is the best. It feels like walking into a Time Machine. Jamal is one of the nicest guys in New York.

Jamal and VRR is one of the greats in NYC! You will be extremely hard pressed (pun intended) to find a more varied collection of vinyl for sale anywhere. Pick a genre, pick a decade, pick an artist; VRR has just about everything. If they don't have it, they will try to get it for you. A true gem of a shop! You need TIME to dig in here. There is an obscene amount of inventory.

Jamal is one of the great small business owners in New York. He is honest, fair, and funny. I enjoy visiting his store in the West Village. Their DVD selection is incredible. He has everything from old HBO series to an original laserdisc of Disney's Fantasia. As someone who grew up collecting physical media as a kid, being at Village Revival Records makes me feel like Charlie in the Chocolate Factory.

Been going to this Record Shop since a child in nyc. Village Revival is a Staple in the Community n Happy to get the Flyest Records.

Village Revival has a fantastic selection and is well stocked. Best record store in NYC, hands down. I cherish places where you can still go crate digging and find all sorts of good stuff. I’m a boxing journalist; and the owner Jamal, as well as Richie an max are fantastic about helping me track down rare boxing media and memorabilia. Truly the coolest place to kill an hour in the West Village.
