Hands down the best dinner experience I had on my trip to Portland - and I went to Han Oak be Laangbaan so really the bar was high! Intimate but approachable setting, great service, and quality fish. Our chef was thoughtful and informative without being too overbearing, and we were able to have a nice family meal while learning about the ingredients and engaging with the experience. Would recommend and will be back! Not cheap but worth the price point.

The omakase was excellent especially for the price. They are really doing something special here. The toro was fatty and fresh. The yuzu sorbet was the perfect way to end the night.

The best sushi I have ever had, by far. Excellent service too. The fatty tuna was extraordinary.

Been coming to nimblefish for years and had to update my review. The omakase service is delicious, and their new sushi counter "nimble chan" inside the same space is equally life changing. No matter what you can't go wrong here. Best sushi I've ever had!

One of the very best sushi experiences we have ever had. I was in town from San Diego, Ca. My partner brought me here for my birthday dinner as a surprise. They have top quality fish, highly professional presentation, friendly staff. I will be back for more.

The intimate a la carte counter is one of the best eating experiences in the city. Truly excellent fish, prepared with craftsmanship. The art of real sushi. Many evenings you can show up without a reservation (which is surprising), particularly later in the evening. Still, wise to call ahead.

Nimblefish was an amazing omakase experience here in Portland. We booked about a month ahead and were able to get a spot on a Friday evening. The interior is beautiful and comfortable, and the counter seating gives a perfect view to watch the sushi chefs do their work. We had the $85 15 course omakase (2 starters, 11 nigiri, soup, and dessert). All of the fish was delicious and expertly prepared. We couldn't resist and ordered some extra pieces at the end of the meal too. The uni, otoro, and swordfish were our absolute favorite pieces. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for omakase in the area.

Dinner at Nimblefish was truly amazing. The chef Design's an Omakase menu that is 11 courses from the best freshest ingredients and is then fallowed by soup and dessert. You can revisit something's you liked and explore new ones after the guided tour from the chef, do take advantage of it. Everything is made with care pride and precision. This was my first time eating sushi of this caliber and I was blown away. Yes it's a bit spendy but trust me when I say "totally worth it". It's bout the experience and the food not just one or the other. I was privileged to sample Firefly Squid that is available fresh only 6 weeks of the year and is drought in from sea of Japan. That is just one of the 11 dishes. I would also like to send a shout-out to Ren from Albatross Tattoo for setting this experience up for me, thak you Sir. Remember as always, be mindful, happy and the best you. You only go around one, so do it well.

Best dining experience I’ve had in Portland so far. Bang for your buck in fresh, curated, and unique sushi. The chef serves a group of 6 at a time. It’s an intimate setting with great conversation. Not an omakase expert by any means, but I had a blast!

It was great to talk to the chef. She was so friendly. The food was amazing. My favorite Omakase in Oregon by far.

Food: 5/5
Service: 5/5 (long wait time though, about an hour)
Atmosphere: 5/5
Would recommend: yes
Some of the best sashimi I have ever had. The quality of the fish really shines here. Really amazing food, but some cons are: somewhat pricey ($3-5 for a single piece) and long wait (an hour or so). Definitely a wonderful treat for your tastebuds. Try to get a spot at the bar, it looks super interesting to be able to sit there in front of the chefs who are preparing the sushi. Unfortunately we weren't seated there, but it was still a good time nonetheless. Perfect fish-to-rice ratio and their house made soy sauce is unique and different. Stop here if you have the chance.

This was definitely our meal of the year, chef and staff were very kind and patient, overall the flow of the course felt phenomenal. It was an anniversary night and it lived up to the hype, definitely recommend to any sushi lover.
Also get the upgraded service, loved the Uni and all the special little dishes they cooked up.

Excellent Omakase at a very reasonable $90/pp. After moving to Oregon from Southern Ca, it’s been hard to find high quality sushi in Portland. The Nimblefish experience was great with high quality fish and a decent beverage selection.

By far the best nigiri we have ever had! Excellent food and service in an intimate setting. We would absolutely recommend visiting Nimblefish for omakase and will return next time we are in Portland. Make a reservation in advance for weekend dining!

Absolutely loved our experience here. I've been wanting to eat here for a long time but it gets booked up and now I can see why! 1) It's a very small restaurant space (I think counter service only, so best for small groups); 2) It's so good!
I will definitely be coming back.
It felt intimate and laidback. The food was delicious. The service was attentive. The drink recommendations and selection was pretty perfect. Our favorites were a smoked mackerel and pickled kelp heart combo and the dessert. Though it's tough to pick a favorite because all the fish was really delicious. There were a couple of lightly smoked nigiri - they had just the right amount of smoke. I had a really delicious Chardonnay as well.
I saw that some people complained about portion sizes but I didn't have a problem with the portions. We did order some additional pieces beyond the standard or base level omakase. Honestly, we didn't NEED to in order to feel full; but there were a couple of things that we either wanted to try or that we wanted to taste again.

Sushi is on par or above top destinations in NYC and other major cities and service is attentive and caring. I cannot recommend this place enough and am dreaming about returning. Outstanding omakase.

Others have left reviews saying the food here wasn't great. I'd say I've certainly had worse food for twice as much money with worse service.
Not everything we had was spectacular, but 80% of it was, and the tamago and salmon were insanely good. One of the two owners was our chef and host, and was super nice and friendly, and answered any questions we had.
I wouldn't hesitate to come back again next time I'm in town and and am thankful I got to experience this restaurant and it's staff and food.

Awesome experience! BUT!… for the chef who tried arguing that “barrel fish” live on surface waters, you are definitely wrong! They are a deep sea dwelling fish! 😎

Nimblefish is phenomenal! The service is on par with the quality of the fish and ingredients served in this edomae-style sushi restaurant. The uni here is a standout and a must order as well as Hirame, Kamasu, Kinmedai, Kohada, and Sanma. And, if you're feeling uber hungry, the Chirashi will not disappoint.
