This place is beautiful. Lots of beach exploring to do. Even a small section that is just rock which makes for good exploration. Would be a great place to stay for the weekend.

We love coming to Cape Meares to observe the sea birds and the breathtaking views. Be sure to bring your binoculars. A spotting scope us even better. (Volunteers will let you look through theirs on the weekends.) Also, don't miss the lighthouse and the Octopus Tree.

The Big tree is the main attraction. 800 year old state champion spruce. Beautiful tree.

A beautiful location for a hike along coastal areas. On a sunny day, the ocean views are stunning. Walk along the beach and smell the salty brew of cracked, picked apart crabs and other shore life while enjoying long walks in the low tide. Visit the Octopus Tree aptly named for its numerous trunks. There are trails that wind through the hilly growth. Set your camera on stun for stunning photo ops. Bring along a few snacks or picnic basket.

Gorgeous rocky beach at base of the refuge trail. But be warned, it's slippery and as I write this, some serious obstacles are blocking the trail at points. Trekking pole(s) and good treads recommended!

There was not much wildlife when I was there cuz it was late summer, buy there are opportunities to see puffins, sea lions and orca whales if you come during the right times
