This place is sooo cool! Tillamook, y'all'er lucky to have such a cool and thorough museum! I randomly stopped in and spent the better part of a day wandering around. I learned so much, and some of the exhibits were amazing! The animal collection is incredible and rivals huge museums in big cities. It was super fun!

A great regional museum featuring the history of the North Oregon Coast.

The museum has three floors
featuring natural history, Native
American, military, transportation,
and the pioneer life.

The second floor on natural
history feature dioramas of
North American wildlife
including birds, grizzly bears,
deer and many other animals
A large collection of seashells
are also on this floor.

A Pioneer cabin and barn, a
tree stump house and local
history of the Coastal Native
Americans are some of the
highlights on the first floor.

The basement has a stage
coach, a cedar canoe from
the local Tillamook tribe,
a harness shop from the
early 1900's and a fire
lookout station.

Located in the old county
courthouse on Second Street
near the junction of
Highway 6 and Highway 101
in Tillamook.

A great museum to learn
about the local coastal
tribes and the Pioneer way
of life with a number of
interesting collections
and exhibits on a wide
range of subjects.

We needed a break from driving and got very lucky stumbling into this museum. It was full of interesting artifacts covering a wide range of life and history. Many of the displays weren't just a brief description either. There was a lot of educational material and commentary. The people who put these things together did a great job. We actually had to pull ourselves away as we needed to get back on the road. A quick or long stop here would definitely be worth it.

It's eclectic and hodgepodge but it's great for 5.00 and it's a great way to spend a rainy afternoon. There are 3 floors with the top being natural sciences primarily, basement is pioneering Tillamook during the last 1800's and the main floor is military, 4H and little bit of several items.
I think my favorite was the architecture of the building itself...tun ceiling, wood accents....was the former county courthouse converted into the museum.

I highly recommend visiting this museum! The front desk worker was very kind, she answered the many questions I had about the museum. This place is packed full of Oregon history and is displayed in a way that keeps you wondering what you’re going to see next.

My husband loves museums! This one in Tillamook is one of the best we have been to. The displays were very well arranged with some thought put into it. There are stairs to climb so it isn’t for everyone. If you enjoy museums you will definitely like this one.

Amazing rural museum, packed full of just about everything. There was a bunch of natural history, some fire camp, some initial settlers, some about the more modern wars, plus some cool old cars (eg, 1909 car that was more buggy than car). It was totally worth the $4 entrance fee.

This was a very interesting and unique place full of history. The most interesting for me was the history of the fire watch towers in Oregon and the military section.

Great place to go with the kids. I would definitely go again. Price is good to get in. Should have done this sooner. They also have a blackout bingo for the kids to find items throughout the museum. It was fun.

Very sweet people there. Always beautiful to look at history of our home. They have a bingo for the kids. And not expensive to visit.

I had an excellent afternoon at the Museum. I came for information on Bay ocean which they didn't have up and available, but we're more than willing to go in the archives and get me pictures and documents so I could go through them. Greatly appreciated! I still have much more research to do and the museum certainly will be part of it!

This museum surprised us all with how much stuff was on display and the wide range. Not only was there old photos and memorabilia from the area, but Native American Indian tools, arrowheads, plus old buggies, military tributes and a huge room with taxidermy animals. There was so much more that I can't list it all. Go!! It was cheap to get in and it was awesome.

A real surprise! Local, area, state and regional historical displays of artifacts are amazing. We had an afternoon but will go back to take a longer look at displays we raced by. And, a great resource for other things to see and do in the Tillamook area. (A lot of material about local indigenous history. Really interesting.)

Super collection of historical items in the old court house that was built around the turn of the century.

The collection ranged from impressive Indigenous artifacts, logging and pioneer living, preserved wildlife, farm implements, geologic samples, and impressive transportation.

Well worth the $5!!!!

This is a hidden gem. Stopped in at the Pioneer Museum after attending the Saturday market. The admission price is a bargain. $1 kids and $4 adults. The museum contained three floors of interesting exhibits and artifacts. We liked the taxidermy room, war room, and the several pioneer themed rooms. Especially liked how the exhibits tied into local historical residents and events. Very low key museum, loved it.
