A fantastic, easy walking trail to see this great marvel of a tree! Loved the accessibility of the boards and the reel of the woods around you. Recommend sitting at one of the benches at the big tree itself to feel the ambiance of being out in nature.

A nice walk through the Cedar Wetland Preserve. Partly shady and cool. Wheelchair accessible. Two people can walk easily side by side. Flat and level. There are about 10 parking spots. It’s located just off Highway 101 as you enter Rockaway Beach. There is no playground but it is a kid (and stroller) friendly walk/hike (although staying on the boardwalk is required.) There is one picnic bench and three resting benches at the end of the trail near the “big cedar”. (Packing out what you take in is necessary and there is a garage can, portable toilet and a drinking fountain at the trailhead.) The boardwalk has been repaired and is fully accessible; however, the non-boardwalk portion of the trail (near the viewing area) remains closed from the extensive damage done during a large winter storm in 2023. Open sunrise to sunset.

Very easy “hike” (it’s a walk) on a well maintained, wide boardwalk suitable for wheelchairs, strollers. Mostly shaded. Meet Big Cedar at the end! Thought to be largest cedar tree in Oregon.

Easy walk on the wood board walk.
Beautiful trees and flowers along the
Trail and the Old Cedar is really something special to see.

Excellent for ADA access, both walkers and hiking poles. Mom is 95 yrs old and navigated the boardwalk easily! Dog friendly, too. Enjoy!!

Beautiful little walk but it's best done early in the am as the parking lot is small. Watch for crossing slugs and bring a meal as there are tables at the big tree. The large skunk weeds make you feel just a little smaller.

Added bonus, this trail is accessible! Though can be slippery. Haven't done the hiking trail portion as we didn't have the right shoes.

Beautiful little trail! The giant cabbage is a wonder to behold! The trail wasn't terribly busy, but it was also quite the rainy weekend. Highly recommend a stroll through here, but take it slow! You never know what wonders you might pass by.

Having the opportunity to see such splendor was truly breathtaking. Take your time and let your eyes and ears explore along the way and you will see so much more than the big tree at the end. Well worth the time. Well maintained and ADA accessible the entire way.

This place is amazing. It’s like taking a walk in Jurassic park. Lovely and convenient Wood planked trail makes it easy for kids, wheelchair accessibility and those wanting to stroll rather than hike. HUGE plants and towering trees speak to the history of the region and there’s plenty of spots to sit and take it all in. Would recommend wearing bug spray as it is a bog and mosquitoes are around. We observed lots of nature and beauty. A must see if you are in the area.

This is a true gem on the coast. Pretty cool to have conserved these wetlands for future generations. If you enjoy nature you will definitely want to stop here and go for an easy stroll on the boardwalk. You can easily spend an hour or more here just decompressing and relaxing.

It really is like walking in Jurassic Park as someone mentioned prior. The sounds of the birds, nature and just life coming from the forest and trees is pretty amazing. The boardwalk is wheel chair accessible and safe for kids. Very easy walk. There is a dirt trail if you want to take that. It’s easy to miss this area when driving. The parking space is very little, so not a lot of parking space available and there are public restrooms.

Amazing trail. Wish they had more benches on the way there. Only benches are at the tree which is I think about a mile long. For the older peeps a bench at least halfway through would be an awesome addition.

There are mosquitoes and other insects.

Otherwise super easy to walk. Mostly level and only goes uphill slightly once.

Awesome boardwalk trail ending at an amazing old and large cedar tree. Took my older father who has issues hiking, but easily made it. If you live nature you'll want to take the trip.

Amazing. Great walk. We saw a snake sunning itself, a baby osprey in it's nest, amazing Cedar, Sitka, Hemlock. A true must for any nature lover. On the boardwalk or through the trail, both are free and well worth the time.

Fun quarter mile boardwalk to an impressive Big Tree. Short trail loop at the end. So many critters if you know where to look. Go early, parking lot is small.

Super neat boardwalk! Minimal crowd on the walk. Dogs welcome. Not a lot of space to step off to the side. This was a well worth it adventure. There is a picnic table at the end.

Loved the short but gorgeous hike! Those who have never been you should. Its like a magical journey and it's really a cool picnic spot too. ( pack out what you pack in) We will definitely be back for another Big Tree adventure.
