Cool trail. Took me a little over 2 hours round-trip with doddling and picture taking. I'm from the midwest so maybe my standards are low but I was impressed with the scenery. There are warning signs for experienced hikers only, as long as you are reasonably physical capable I didn't think it was that bad but there is some significant elevation gain that may tire you and at times the path is mostly uneven tree roots.

This is a good hiking trail, not too much of an elevation change. The view is beautiful once you get to the point. I rated this a moderate hike because there are many tree roots you have to walk on and over. There are parts of the trail that are narrow but places to step to the side to let other hikers pass. We saw quite a few dogs on the trail also. Be sure to look at the trees in the forest, there are some huge trees!

This is rated difficult for experienced hikers. There are some narrow, wet & slippery parts on the trail. There are logs to climb over, drainage pipes to climb on to get across, roots which have petrified to walk through. I did see kids hiking with their families & dogs on leashes.

A perfect way to start the day. Moderate difficulty. About 5 miles out and back. But you can also continue up or down other connecting trails. This is what I did and it was perfectly splendid.

This was an incredible hike, not strenuous but very muddy as others have said. Not a big deal as long as you have good shoes. Some absolutely incredible views at the end and the forest along the way was beautiful. Bathrooms just up the road from the trailhead.

Wonderful hiking trail with spectacular views through the coastal rainforest to the ocean. Trail is somewhat challenging but very much worth the effort and the memories of the scenery will last a lifetime.

One of the most beautiful places on earth in my opinion. If you catch it on a sunny day, it is a sight you won't ever forget. Beautiful little hike down to the cove and many wonderful things to discover at the beach

This is a nice easy hike. About a mile in you can go off to the left and go down to the beach. If you continue on the trail to the right it is about another 1.25 miles to the end of the trail. In total it is about 4.3 miles out and back. It is a good hike with great views at the end.

4.5 mile hike that is moderate. Was good for our family with teens and preteen. Be prepared to walk through some muddy spots and over LOTS of roots. Be careful near the view point, it's steep. Beautiful views along the way. Lots of shade. Busy too.

Wow! Breathtaking! Totally worth the hike! We brought our hammocks and set it up right near the edge! One of my favorite views yet!

Note the trail was a little muddy/slippery so just be careful if it’s been wet.

Fantastic hike - we are are fairly athletic, but not experienced hikers & found this hike to be low to moderately challenging! I will say the weather was perfect when we went (Sept 10, 2023), so the trails were dry & easy to navigate; but could see the trail being quite difficult if muddy. Got there at 8:30 on a Sunday & had the trail to ourselves. Amazing views, stunning beach, highly recommend!

A beautiful if somewhat difficult hike. I would not advise the path for anyone who suffers from vertigo or has questionable balance. There are also an incredible number of roots just waiting to catch the unwary or distracted individual. And as the slope is quite steep, this could get ugly very quickly! For most people to the next parking lot south and there is an easy path to the beach from there. But, I will say the end result is fabulous!

Great hike. Fairly easy apart from the mud and roots. Awesome views along the way and at the end. Take some spare shoes and a bag to put them in if your worried about mud in the car!

Absolutely gorgeous, not as muddy as other reports I've seen, but it has been dry. Get there early for parking! Bathrooms are a little past the trailhead on the opposite side of the street, where the additional parking is. Mosquitoes weren't very bad but might want some bug spray.

Be prepared to step over lots of roots. And about halfway there's a path to the left that takes you like 15 feet off trail to view a small waterfall. 😊

Easy hike
Approx 2.5 miles one way . It's not a loop so you return back in the same path . Visited this on June 26 and was a little slippery at some spots be careful at these places ,may be avoid sports shoes as it offers less grip . Nice view .

Amazing view from the top. Trail is narrow for two people to cross but is shaded for the most path and has unnoticeable elevation gain. It got busier around noon

The trail is a bit of a drive if you are staying in portland (2 hour drive to the coast). however, it's a nice hike if you get there in the morning. Majority of the hike is shaded (through the forest) so do dress warm if it's a bit chilly. Beginning of the hike is bumpy b/c you are walking over and around roots of many many old trees. You need to watch where you step. It evens out later in the hike. Half way into the hike, you are taken to a camp site where you could sit on a bench and enjoy the coastline. However, if you want, you can keep going to the end of the cape falcon hike (it can be combined with a longer hike as well). The end is basically an opening for a lookout of the coast line. It's very beautiful on a sunny day. However, if you are planning on sitting there and enjoying a snack, be mindful of really big ants/fire ants. We noticed them 5 min into our hanging out (luckily we were standing not sitting).
There's plenty of parking if you arrive early but it does fill up. You can likely park at the parking lot across the street as well which is much bigger and has a bathroom. Lot of people park there to go down to the water.
