We thoroughly enjoyed our visit! An impressive Bronze of Captain Robert Gray is standing at the street entrance to welcome you in. The exhibits were so well done and well kept. The museum was bright clean and exciting. Lots of local history and great displays peppered by donations from local collections.

Great little museum about maritime in the area. The admission price is beyond reasonable and they even had an extra little art exhibit going on when we visited.

A friendly Maritine museum with some great displays. Additionally there is a crocheted coral reef on display that is s marvel of knitting donated by some wives of Australian mathematicians.

This was a fantastic museum! Reasonable admission and great exhibits. Oh and excellent for kids! They had a dress up area and play area and everything! So thoughtful.

A very nice, very well laid out museum. Definitely worth a stop (and the low entrance fee $4), if you happen to be driving by or even if you are camping say 30 minutes away and want something to do. To get the full experience you'll have to read a bit, but worth it!

Best museum choice EVER!! I never imagined that my own family name would be anywhere let alone a museum. There is a wall on the first floor dedicated to the Vandecoevering name. I took pictures. I'm so stoked!! I have a clue to my family history after 35 years of knowing little to nothing accept that it's a Dutch name. Haha! I'm tickled pink by this I ended up having a panick attack I was so happy and excited.

We had a couple of VERY rainy days on a recent trip to the coast. Cue exploring some indoor activities and this one is a fun hidden gem. It cost $4/adult and the little kids were free. The whole museum was well laid out, labeled, and interesting. There were sections on local history, Native American history of the area, early explorers, and lots of boats and fishing gear. They even have a kid’s corner with toys and dress up. We spent about 45 minutes exploring and I could go back and read more but the kids were done.

Very informative. Lots of history on Robert Gray, the Native Americans that lived in the area, and the towns around Tillamook bay. The quality of the items and artifacts on display are excellent. I was quite impressed with the bow of the wrecked ship that was restored by the community. The firearms collection was also of great quality. I would be quite proud of this museum if it was in my community.

Loved the museum. Very organized and informative. Loved seeing pieces of history like the football jersey of the Garibaldi High School team from over 60 years ago. Person working at the front desk was really friendly and let my entire family in for free because the museum was closing in 45 minutes. Bought a few T shirts to help out the museum. Great experience and would definitely recommend it to people visiting Garibaldi.

Awesome little museum. It's great when you see a town take so much pride in it's heritage. They have a lot of interesting information on maritime history. They also have exhibits for native American history and a really cool nostalgic section on the local high school. Definitely worth a stop and the $4 admission to get in.

This museum packs a surprising amount of items in its building! Lots of really neat history & artifacts from the Northern Oregon coast area. The 2 ladies who were running things when my hubby and I came through were unbelievably nice! As an Oregon history buff myself and my husband into maritime history we geeked out and had really enjoyable conversation with the 2 gals that were there. We went at the end of the tourist season so we had the museum to ourselves for the majority of the time. Looking forward to exploring thru it all again!
I dont remember for sure, but I think the admission 'price' was on a donation basis. For someone living on SSD, I appreciate being able to pay what I can & not being denied entry due to my lousy financial situation.

Top quality museum! It may be small, but it packs a large punch. Engaging exhibits, educational and interactive, and extremely well kept. They also have a fun gallery that showcases local art. An amazing bargain for the entire family!

This is a fun little museum for anyone interested in learning about Captain Robert Grey and some local history. The upstairs in packed and even has a section to engage kids. There are models of ships, pictures, guns on display, and all kinds of wonderful things to learn about. The staff was gracious and helpful.

What a nice little museum. I don't know how long it's been there or how many times I've passed by it over the years, but I finally stopped in today. The woman manning the front desk was super sweet. There are toys and books and jigsaw puzzles for purchase. Some really fun stuff for kids. Apparently there is an upstairs, although we didn't go up there because we had a time constraint. I'll definitely stop in the next time I'm in Garibaldi. Oh, and it's free.

From the outside, it doesn't look like much but looks are deceiving.
This museum is a must see in Garibaldi. A true tale of the history. A great little gift shop. Friendly and caring volunteers. Great location and lots of parking. Don't leave this off your visit.

The Garibaldi Maritime Museum was our first stop in a recent trip to Garibaldi, and we couldn't have started our trip more pleasantly. Though the museum appears small on the outside, it offers plenty to see and learn about.
For a mere $3 per adult, my partner and I spent around 4 hours wandering around, reading, watching, looking at, and generally absorbing all of the exhibits. We finished up by getting a bunch of unique gifts in the giftshop.
The museum tells the story of the history of Garibaldi and provides a ton of information about ships, fishing, and more. It also tells the story of Captain Robert Grey, the first American to visit the West Coast and the Columbia River. There is a ton of interesting information about 1800s sailing ships, including detailed info about navigation methods, living quarters, attire, and so much more. There's so much here I felt like I was ripping them off by paying only a $3 entry fee.
Finally, the woman who greeted us when we came in was exceptionally nice. She was the only person working that day and was very friendly and talkative. She also noticed that I am visually impaired and (politely) asked what the museum could do to improve its accessibility for future visitors. It was a conversation I was glad to have with her.
If you're going to visit Garibaldi, you need to stop by the Maritime Museum.

A great place to learn about the history of the NW coast of Oregon and Tillamook Bay area. Displays about native people and early explorers and settlers. Worth a stop to explore.
